With drinks and desserts a-plenty, The Meatball Shop makes the perfect casual stop for digging in to a hearty meal or a healthy bite, refreshing drink and mouthwatering dessert with family and friends.
Really great food and lovely accommodating staff. I wish the tables and chairs were bigger, more comfortable but i get the vibe. I was bowled over by how good the food was. Consistent and awesome!
The meatball dishes are creative and ambiance is relaxed and fun. We went with our children (3&6 yrs old) after a show and didn't feel judged/uncomfortable at any part of our experience.
Food was very good. Service was nice. Waiter pleasant and attentive.
Food was meh. Service was good, but we got warm tap water. Restaurant was empty, with the exception of a couple. The guy had a super scary facial tatoo that looked like a giant stitch scar on his face and weird eyelashes. For some reason the waitress sat my daughter right next to this completely scary looking dude. Not a pleasant experience.
This was our first visit to the Hell's Kitchen location. Our service was good. The food was another story. Thre were five of us in our party that night. Three of us reported under cooked pasta. Two of us ordered the spicy heritage pork meatballs that had NO spice whatsoever. One person had the lobster meatballs that had no discernible lobster in them with no lobster taste or aroma. I ordered a side of Brussel sprouts ($7) which arrived boiled, tasteless and completely unappetizing looking. I should have sent them back, but did not. It was a disappointing meal experience. Overall a very sub-par meal and we won't be returning. I love the restaurant concept and we had a delicious meal in the shop in Chelsea last year when visiting NY.
I’ve been to this location twice, the service was pretty distant. The food is good and at a good price so we keep coming back
Everything was great! Easy menu for groups, good service, overall good experience
Food was great - lots of variety - and delicious - enjoyed salad and chicken meatballs. Great drinks as well (nice, uncomplicated wine & beer selections and full bar for mixed drinks). The service was fantastic and friendly. I was about to head out to a show and the waiter was attentive and timed things perfectly - also offered helpful support to get me to a second show later that night. Super fun music selection and atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Food was great, prices were too. The only downside was it is very noisy. Be sure to make a reservation if you are going on a Saturday night.
This is my fourth visit when I have been in NYC. I always try something new. The lobster meatballs were fantastic with the lemon butter sauce and greens for a base. Roll on, Meatball Shop!
My boyfriend and I meet in the city every now and then when he’s here for work and I finally thought of taking him here after talking it up. He was extremely satisfied! Always a good meal. Thank you!!
worth trying once--
reasonably tasty and good value for the $$
Always delicious! We balled out with the buffalo ball app, balls of the day and traditional balls with red sauce- all delicious, with friendly service.
Always a solid choice, packed on a Friday night!
What a great concept! Fun menu based on meatballs with different ingredients and a variety of sauces. Good sides (veggies included). Delicious ly reasonable, too. Staff were very accommodating!
loved the cookie ice cream sandwiches!!! YUM - this is a really fun place for groups and families.
Fun & energetic, but can get loud since there are no walls or sound absorbers. Friendly & upbeat staff that seated us ahead of our reservation time. Gabby was helpful & attentive early in the experience, but hard to get to once it got very busy. Overall a different experience that we may try again sometime in the next year.
Definitely, I would recommend it to family and friends when visiting NYC. The spicy pork meatballs, pesto sauce and kale bowl was awesome. Also, the classic meatballs, classic marinara with mushrooms and rigatoni. The portion size was large.
The place was extremely noisy. We had a reservation, but had to order to go, because it was impossible to have a conversation.
Made a reservation, arrived at the reserved time, and there were no tables ready. Hostess told me “you can wait for someone to get up.” Food is pretty good, a little overpriced, but bar staff super friendly.
Great food. A little loud.
Service was very good and fast. The food was good, not great. If your called the “the meatball shop” your meatballs better knock my socks off and in my honest opinion I’ve had better meatballs in a regular Italian restaurant. The meatballs where on the small size as well.
The restaurant was charming and a great place to catch up with old friends because I wasn’t shouting over music and other patrons. I really enjoyed my wine and appetizer but the dinner was mediocre at best. We ordered a side of kale that was inedible, don’t make that mistake. (Full transparency- I did order the veggie meatballs, but I liked the concept of the place and had planned for that going in. They were really dense and didn’t accompany the base of my bowl well. I asked the waiter for some coaching on building my bowl and he said “up to you.” I would have liked a couple opinions or ideas. I think you can do better in the neighborhood- all kinds of cuisines to choose from in the area. I won’t be going back even though the ambiance and setting were nice.
Dinner before a show service was excellent
Great food! The tomato sauce was amazing! The meatballs delicious! We loved our experience. The service was hyper quick! Almost too quick!
Lovely server, tasty , and not over large portions...ideal.
The meatballs are good but it seems the size is decreasing and the price increasing. I also had the lobster balls. They are $10 more than the other meatballs and void of lobster. Totally not with the price (mostly filler).
Experience is 'fine'. While the meatballs are not bad, they are also nothing to go out of your way for either
Very fast service,, good food & drinks! Had a pleasant time :)
Good meatballs and concept. Service just OK!
Siamo tornati in questo locale a distanza di un anno. La qualità del cibo è più bassa dello scorso anno (pasta davvero troppo troppo cotta). Atmosfera però sempre molto accogliente e personale sempre molto gentile e disponibile.
Staff is really great. Great meal for adults and kids. We went twice in the same week.
Very nice dinner! Love it!
Will definitely be returning to try more flavors of meatballs and cocktails!
Food was great, concept interesting, servers kind & flexible. However, it was virtually impossible to hold a conversation due to the noise level. Everyone around us was literally yelling in order to be heard - not only was the music loud, but the entire place is tiled, so all sound reverberates and multiplies.
Go for the food, but wear earplugs - or do takeout!
I specifically warned the server that I am celiac and need gluten free food. He indicated me which food was ok on the menu but then my order arrived with the focaccia bread, which is not gluten free!
Then they re made my order but by then it was missing one of the two sides that I asked for.
All in all the food was good but the server didn’t do a good job and didn’t smile one single time at us.
And the music was too loud to have a conversation!
We made sure to try as many balls as possible and everything was delicious, not to mention we received our food minutes after ordering.
It was our first balls experience and we will definitely be back.
The food was wonderful and I really enjoyed my ice cream sandwich! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who really loves a wide selection of balls.
My group from Texas had several small party reservations for a Saturday evening. The Meatball Shop was kind enough to seat us all together in the back room so we could sit together and talk. It was perfect! The food was outstanding, and the service was very prompt. I felt the wait staff went out of their way to accommodate a party of 30 people. Thank you for a great experience! I'll definitely come back on my next visit to NYC!!
We liked that there are unlimited options for a meal, whether sandwich, salad, bowl, or "fancy" entree, and whether meat, fish, or vegetable. It was a chaotic atmosphere, and we were unlucky to be in the room with a crying/screaming baby. I don't enjoy yelling to be heard by the person right across the table from me. I've had more tasty kale, but the tomato sauce helped mask its bitterness. With so many other options in the neighborhood, I don't know when we'll return (though my husband agrees that it was an option too good to dismiss).
Veggi balls were good stand alone as was the mash
Bowls don’t come with enough sauce and I advise not mixing extra items in with bowl
