Absolutely delicious from start to finish! Crispy pork schnitzel, NY strip cooked to perfection, and creative sides. Potato pave is an interesting twist on the potato but delicious! Extensive wine list but only a few beers on draft. Did not try any desserts as too full from the meal. Highly recommend for any special occasion or date night.
I took a friend there for his birthday and he was skeptical that he would even like a French Brasserie in San Antonio. But the food, service and ambiance totally surprised him and he left happy and enthusiastic. The server was prompt and knowledgeable. The appetizers and mains and desserts were all delicious. Eager to go back.
This was my first lunch experience (I have been to Maverick several times for dinner.) I will be back soon.

Second time for dinner at Maverick. We were slightly early for our reservation and the hostess told us the other couple meeting us had not arrived. We went to the bar and sat for 15 before getting a text from our friends that they were waiting at the table. ???? Had great cocktails and 2 of us ordered the plat du jour (highly recommend!!), one ordered redfish (very good) and the last person ordered the skate. The skate was the problem and 2 others tried it and all agreed it had a very unpleasant, chemical taste. We told our waiter, who took it away with many apologies. We never found out if the chef/kitchen agreed with our table, but the skate was on not on the final bill. This won't stop us from coming back-we really want to try the brunch menu. Would def recommend.
I wouldn't order a Margarita on the Rocks again. New York Strip lacked taste. Trout was excellent.
One of the best restaurants in San Antonio. Everything was great: the service, the food, the beverages. Even though the menu is a la carte, the pricing was reasonable. And there was something on the menu for everyone and everyone loved what they got. Kudos to the chef and staff at Maverick.
The service was absolutely wonderful with waiters and waitresses quick to clear plates/wipe down tables/refill water. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I would recommend for any special occasion or a night out.
It was my second visit to Maverick and it exceeded the first time. I took my girlfriend for my birthday and when we arrived there was a card signed by the staff on the table wishing me a happy birthday. Dinner was amazing. Cocktails were perfect. I am not easily impressed and I love Maverick. I was also provided a dessert for the occasion. You would do well to treat yourself to this fine restaurant.
Amazing food. Ran into a piece of plastic in the mushrooms, but I'm pretty sure it was a super rare occurrence. It was quickly replaced. Great staff and service. It just took a while for the server to greet is after we were sat.
Food was Excellent! Had the porkchop, wow so good! The starter was calamari & octopus and I know the Maverick is not advertised as a seafood restaurant, but I will be trying a seafood option next time! I also had myself an Old Fashioned from the bar and this too was great if I had to nip pick I would just recommend a black cherry (yes I know it's not traditional, but it's good). Wish I had photos because I know I like to see pictures of the food from restaurants when I read reviews, but the food was so good I forgot to snap pictures.. Sorry

What a fantastic addition to the SA dining scene! With the arrival of Maverick, SA is showing it can rival the best dining experiences across the USA and even Europe. On visiting from LA, we had driven past this place and thought we'd give it a try...we were completely blown away by the ambiance, setting, vibrant bar scene, and of course, the food. Specialty cocktails were expertly prepared and the wine list contained some wonderful gems. The staff were also expert and professional. This place is simply on par with some of the best restaurants in the country at the moment.
We were a few minutes late for our reservation. The hostess called to check on us! Very nice! Once we arrived, we were seated immediately. First, we should say that we enjoyed our experience here. The restaurant is lovely and the staff bent over backwards to help us. But we did experience some problems with the meal.
The wine and draft beer selections were excellent. I ordered an old-fashioned and it was perfect. My date had a draft IPA.
We started with the grilled calamari and octopus—but it’s really a mix of fried calamari, grilled octopus, and roasted potatoes. Each element was tasty but the dish didn’t seem to blend—it tasted like separate items had been tossed together. For the main, we both ordered steak. I ordered the plat du jour—steak au poivre, and my date ordered the small NY strip with Brussels sprouts and green beans with shishito peppers. My dinner came with sautéed arugula and sweet potatoes and a green salad.
Both steaks were ordered Pittsburgh rare and came out tepid. My date sent his back and it returned much warmer. I kept mine, but after three bites, I hit pure fat. I told the server, and the kitchen made me another steak, which came out at perfect temperature and doneness. It wasn’t a traditional steak au poivre—but it was a great steak!
Sides seem consistently over salted. The vegetables themselves were very fresh and well-prepared, although sprouts, beans, and arugula were rather oily. The other spices suited the veggies well. The salad was delicious.
My meal included dessert, for which we chose the coffee Creme caramel—delicious! Coffees were also excellent.
What made this evening outstanding was how the staff assisted each other and us throughout. All our requests were received graciously and problems were quickly rectified. Everyone made us feel special and welcome. We would return here to sample some of the other house specialties and enjoy the terrific service.

The food lacked flavor. Duck was nothing special. The potatoes were really good and the green beans were also good. It was a very lengthy wait for the food.
This is my go to place!!! Food and service was exceptional.

Had a wonderful time! Went with a friend, pre-show dinner. Perfect for the occasion. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious and fresh. Will definately go back

This was a first visit for 3 of the 4 of us and we all loved everything!
The food was excellent. The kitchen was very slow. Our servers tables were too far apart and we waited often to get his attention. Atmosphere was p l.j easant except for the freezing temperatures in the restaurant. Loved all our selections.
The exterior does not do justice to the gem you’ll find inside. It is a unique layout that will compliment a couple or a large group. It also has great patio that appears very relaxing. Excellent food & service!! It’s a real gem for SA!
Awesome ambiance. I believe the owner is from California so that would explain it, not to knock Texas since I’ve lived here my entire life but it is just in the past decade that SA has really started to have a vibrant dining scene. We came from Restaurant Week. I had the steak, hubby had the trout. It was a rare instance where he made the better choice between us two. The portions were small, I don’t know if that was because of the promotion. We ordered fries since I was still hungry. The salad had a vey mild lemony dressing, it could have used more to provide more flavor and so it wouldn’t be as dry. Fruit tarte for dessert was good and so was hubby’s chocolate dessert. The Bexar cocktail was potent and yummy, tasted like cranberry juice with tons of alcohol. Not sure I would come back since there are so many new restaurants in town but I am glad we came. If coming for a date, request a table with the blue velvet chairs or for a group the circular cushioned seat tables, especially for photo ops.
Maverick was great!! My husband and I both enjoyed our dinner and our wine. The service was very good. I ordered off the restaurant week menu and my husband ordered from regular dinner menu. We will go to Maverick again for sure and recommend it to friends.
The pork schnitzel and the broccoli was excellent!!
Lighting was just right,huge bar at entry and large back area which included a chef's table.I got the dinner for $25 which included a delicious salad,pork with vegetables and mashed potatoes, then choice of dessert. Very good and good deal. My wife got redfish which she was not impressed with,BUT I LIKED.
First time at Maverick and decided on select menu for Restaurant Week. Nice environment, wait staff was great, meal served in a reasonable time frame. Wife selected trout which she enjoyed. I had the strip steak; cooked to my liking (medium rare) but very tough. I expected better. Desserts and wine, recommended by wait staff was very enjoyable. We will come back to try the menu again.

All of the servers were so friendly and attentive, and the food was incredible. My husband and I ordered from the restaurant week menu, but I can’t wait to return to try other entrees. Our cocktails were full of flavor and delicious. I absolutely loved the decor as well. Best New York strip I’ve ever had!

From the moment we walked through the door my expectations were continually exceeded! The food was phenomenal; the attention to details, and entire service staff were exceptional! Megan offered fabulous recommendations! The crab cake slider was nothing short of brilliance. I’m absolutely looking forward to returning...!
We loved the restaurant, had a great server and two of the four of our dinners were fabulous. We dined during restaurant week and two of us ordered the steak. It was tough and had a lot of fat. We expressed this to our server who discussed it with the chef and agreed to take $10 off each of the steak diners checks. Even with this experience, we will definitely return.
I wish I could give them a better review. I found the food to be hit or miss. I ordered the exact same thing as a friend next me me and her fish came out beautifully prepared and moist with a sauce. Mine was over cooked with no sauce! The service was good, food and cocktails need work.
Calimari and octopus ($19!) was almost all potatoes a the barest of peppers.
Red snapper was dry.
Martini was small, almost a cordial glass.
Brocolli rabe was stringy.
Valet slow and difficult.
Poor selection of scotch--no J&B or Dewars.
Mushrooms were watery.
Will not return.
Money spent on seating a plus. Good chairs and banquet seating firm and comfortable. Our waitress was energetic, fun and a peoples person which made her job good for the customers she served. Excellent food. Desert to die for!
This is a new hot spot that seems appropriate for dinner and drinks prior to a night out with friends. Very cool vibes and really nice interior decor and bar.
