The location was charming. The food was tasty, but served lukewarm. The service was slow and it took a long time to get our food. We’d try it again though. It might be a fun happy hour after work, pre-date kind of place.

This was our 2nd visit to Maverick and we went for their Father's Day brunch. The restaurant is beautiful and quite spacious. The food was very good - we had the Maverick Burger, the pork belly & coddled eggs, the Steak Frite, and the Blue Crab omelet and everything was very tasty.
The restaurant was crowded, so not much room to navigate around the restaurant. Service was a bit slow - took about 10 mins after we were seated to get water and about another 10 mins before our bloody mary's arrived. They were extremely busy and did appear to have all hands on deck, but the wait was a bit long.

overall a good experience and highly recommend for the food and the bar (all our drinks were delicious)

Amazing service & food for Father’s Day brunch today. We started with the brown butter brioche doughnut - freshly made & melt in your mouth goodness - and prickly pear mimosas. For breakfast, my wife had the braised pork belly served with cheesy grits & coddled eggs along with a spiked cold coffee. I had the duck confit hash topped with poached eggs. Everything was very wonderful, and we can’t wait to return!!

This was my first time at Maverick and I can't wait to go back. I went in a group of 5 to get together with good friends. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, especially for a larger group. The cocktail menu, at first, seemed a little limited but throughout the night I think we tried at least one of almost all of them and they were all great. I really enjoyed the St. Bernard and the Fade to Cab. We tried a variety of appetizers and really liked them all (the salmon tartare, the grilled octopus and calamari, and the four cheese plate). Most in the party ordered the mixed grill, which looked incredible, and I opted for a GIANT pork schnitzel. We all also had the green chile mac & cheese with pork rinds, because how could you not? We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed everything immensely. We sat the chef's table (and I won't lie, I think my butt is a little bruised from the stools we sat on) BUT we had a wonderful server named Sarah and enjoyed seeing all of the dishes come out. Thanks Maverick!! We had a great time.

The food was excellent and well presented. The service was good, a little too intrusive with the clearing of empty plates, glasses, drinks, etc. I feel like I was "nickled & dimed" in that the only thing you got without paying for was salt & pepper (and you had to ask for it!). Please give your customers at least some bread & butter when they are seated.

We loved it! We are so happy to have this gem in SA. We have a three year old and only get out for dates 2-3 times per month. We will be coming back because of the food, service, and decor. We felt like we were in SA, but also LA or Brooklyn. The low hum of other patrons was perfect. The conversations we had with the staff were enlightened. Great wine and drinks. It was perfect from start to finish.

We had a reservation on Friday night and were sat right on time after a drink at the bar. Food was great and the ambiance was perfect for a date or a group event. Great wine suggestions as well. We tried a lot of different menu items and it was all great.

The idea of this restaurant is way better than the execution. Service is a little on the slow side; entrees were good but not great. Desserts were excellent. I wouldn't make an effort to return.

Our waiter was great and the food was amazing. I had the half chicken with green beans and was delighted by how the green beans were served. Peppers and halved cherry tomatoes were a different take on a standard side. I recommend the Riesling to pair. We will be back!

Enjoyed our early dinner before the theatre on a week night. Food was very good, especially the grilled fish dishes. Cauliflower was outstanding. Value was fair, but I always like to see something complimentary from the chef. Or Would have loved to taste the cheese bread without having to buy a whole bucket. Will try again. Lots of choices on the menu!

Loved the atmosphere with a cool vibe and decor. Food was good but nothing blew us away. I had the double cut pork chop which was moist but a little lacking in flavor. My date had the trout and felt it was good but not great. Sauces are ordered as side condiments which might be a mistake as the chef should know better what pairs with a certain dish. Definitely will go back and try again as there were several other menu options that sounded tasty. Our server was very personable and knowledgeable although he disappeared for long stretches when we were looking for a cocktail refill and then the check. The cocktails were quite good and handcrafted with style. Would definitely go back for a late night drink or date.

Started off that there was no parking with the valet. I don’t understand why Texas restaurants can’t figure out parking. You count your tables and each one is a parking spot. Welcome to common sense 101.

The inside of the restaurant is pretty. We didn’t have to wait with a reservation. If you are going to have a special to your menu one day a week, you can’t run out of it on that day. Never experience this in another restaurant globally outside of TX. Be proactive with your menu!

The food was well seasoned but if you are going to be a la carte you have to make sure all your side dishes are completely cook (roasted root veggies had some undercooked), your strip is not leaking grease all over the plate like to a quality of Perry’s, Chart House and Trulocks. If you are going to be one of the only fine dining restaurants that charges for bread, you cant have it be stale.

The key lime creme brûlée was very good but we thought about going to another restaurant after learning they didn’t figure out parking and only the creme brûlée didn’t make us regret giving this place a try. Ten years in TX out of NYC has made me have to lower my expectations but this place gets basics pretty wrong.

The only criticism I have and it’s minor was arrived early for my reservation. Was told that it was going to be about ten minutes. So I told them I would wait at the bar. They forgot about me and had to check in again to get my table. Other than that, great experience. I’ll definitely go back.

What a great restaurant. The food was amazing, most importantly. Loved the atmosphere and beautiful design--and it was a real bonus to be able to hear each other speak. While I wouldn't call it a quiet restaurant, it wasn't loud, which is hard to come by these days and made dinner conversation between our party of 5 a lot easier to have.

First and foremost, our server Kerri was outstanding. She is obviously passionate about the food and was super-helpful.
The decor is clean and light. The bar is beautiful.
Food was very good. Critiques: crispy duck was only crispy on the legs, and my daughter’s salmon, instead of being glazed, was swimming in sauce. Pork chop was excellent and the sides were delicious. Cheese puffs were out of this world. Wine list is a tad expensive but a good selection.
We will definitely be back!

Great food and pleasing atmosphere for a business meal or date night. Very nice wine list including by the glass selections. The Plat du Jour is an incredible value. The service is never rushed...very much like dining in Europe. Have been here several times and look forward to returning.

Where do I start.... first, our server had the personality of a dull steak knife that was not able to cut through butter. What I mean is he was terrible.

We got to the table, and didn’t even get a hello. Every question we asked seemed to get a response of a 3 yr old on super jeopardy. Didn’t respond to anything.

We ordered food and it came cold twice. We left with a horrible experience and an empty stomach.

Don’t waste a second. Blah blah blah blah blah.

My mom was in from out of town and we were going to a concert at the majestic at 8pm. I booked a 6pm reservation through open table. We were right on time. We ordered by 6:30 and got our very small appetizer by 6:45 then nothing till 7:40. And when the food came out it was all cold. Later we ran into 2 other couples that left with the same experience. Too bad the place is in a great location and super cool ambiance.

had a reservation, we were seated right away but had to wait about 10min just to get water by a manager. had to wait another 10 min for a server to come back and ask what else we wanted to drink. manager served red wine in a white wine glass . appetizer came out cold but our entrees were really good! the older female busser was amazing.

This was our second visit in 2 months, the first was PERFECT, this time the service was poor at best. Our waiter seemed distant and non-caring. The food and drinks were incredible and very reasonably priced, so maybe you just don't get the guy who waited on us this last time and it will be AMAZING for you.

As usual my experience was excellent. Everything was perfect. I made reservations through Open Table - easy. Our waitperson, Sarah, was terrific! She was well informed and charming.

My only complaint, and it’s one I have consistently had, is the music is way too loud! Great tunes, just too loud. I’d suggest you turn it down.

Maverick has only been open a few months so hopefully they will get service straightened out. Location, aesthetics and vibe are great. Food is very good, although I suspect some will complain about portion sizes. Biggest issue is we sat for 15 minutes before anyone attended to us and 35 minutes had passed before our drinks arrived. Came pretty close to walking out.

I think the charge for every item was a little much. Especially the “sauce” or any “flavor” added. Portion size was a little skimpy. Green beans were served cold. Cool place but wouldn’t frequent too often.
