Maverick - Texas Brasserie
It was great just that at first my date drink order was lost and we had to wait so she could get a new one. Then at the end we wanted to order dessert and first there was no chocolate we order the caramel one and they brought an apple one then we had to order a cheesecake which wasn’t that good.
Seven dollars to park. Food was cold. Wines are ridiculously prized.
This is an awesome place for many different occasions. I most recently enjoyed a business dinner here an the food and ambiance was perfect. The staff was friendly, the service was very efficient, and the food was flavorful and fresh. I will definitely be making Maverick the place to take clients in the future.
Serviced lacked attention to detail. Empty water glasses and table bottle. Felt forgotten.
Outstanding food and service. Very inventive choices. Salmon was great and profiterole dessert was super. Good wine selection. We ate at the bar and William couldn't have been more helpful!
The food and service here are always very good. I love bringing family here because we can all hear each other at the table.
Our dining experience at Maverick was extremely pleasant. The food was outstanding packed with flavor, and our waitress Danni was outstanding offering her full assistance with a smile. Would definitely recommend to friends & will be back.
This place is huge in service! Then they have the food to back it up. The servers are extremely familiar with the menu and are good at suggesting dishes.
Wife and I went to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Maverick was the perfect spot. I started with the namesake cocktail, The Maverick, and it was amazing. The flavors we perfectly balanced between the ingredients. Our appetizer was the mussels, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Our next course was the arugula salad which had a delicious vinaigrette. My main was the mixed grill paired with the fries and Mac and cheese; Wife had the trout and roasted vegetables. Both were absolutely stunning. No dessert wasnhad due to dietary restrictions. The service was top notch too. They all seemed to work as one team. Great place for a romantic date, or just an upscale dinner. We will definitely return!
Friends from SoCal in town, wanted them to experience San Antonio’s upscale dining.. Maverick was recommended by owners of Bar1919. Firstly, I had to change reservation twice due to travel timing. Staff was very accommodating and very friendly each time
Food and drinks were truly just perfect. Waiter was young but good service. Interrupted us almost every time we were in the middle of conversation but it rudely.
I accidentally left my card with the receipt. Within 15 minutes of leaving they called to inform me. They kept until the next day when I could return.
Very sweet, kind and attentive staff. Excellent experience, our friends were delighted. Thank you Maverick.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time! We loved that we were given the option of sparkling and regular water. Drinks were amazing! Our server made sure to explain the menu and check up on us. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this place to our friends.
Eveyrhing about our dining experience was amazing
Awesome food, interior environment and services! I brought my parents who are visiting me the first time in Texas. We loved the Trout and the Porchetta very much! Highly recommended!
Food did not come out hot!
Attentive and personal service, good food, well thought through and put together wine list with many unexpected offerings by the glass, and beautiful ambience!
The family style dining and cocktails were superb. We had to wait a while for food but it was well worth the wait. The atmosphere of the restaurant is stunning and eclectic.
Kitchen was undetstaffed
Fourth visit- 1st for Brunch. I’m a big fan for dinner but brunch was very disappointing. Drinks from bar were, at best, boring in presentation and tasted the same. Crab omelette was so bad my date couldn’t finish it. I tried it and agreed - crab was very fishy and scarce and the eggs were overly runny, soaking the potatoes. My steak frites was tasty but, again, boring. Dinner has never disappointed but we have cancelled plans to bring friends to brunch.
Enjoyed our friends birthday dinner! Service was great and so was the food!
Food was ok. Trout was very salty. But the cheesecake dessert was delicious. Restaurant was nice
We went on a double date with close friends for my birthday. Everything was perfect. We arrived a little early and they seated us right away. Our waiter was prompt and we loved his personality. The food was outstanding. I could not have asked for a better experience for my special night.
First time but we will definitely return! Well trained staff, great ambience and wow what great food! This is a real winner!
My first time to Maverick and definitely not my last. Took my wife out on a date for restaurant week but ended up ordering from the normal menu. Extremely well priced, great and beautifuly prepared food, ambiance was awesome and best part was that all the staff was in unison and everyone bussed tables and served food with only customers in mind. Rarely seen to at that level even in the best of restaurants.. not sure if it was do to restaurant week or a standard at Maverick but we will definitely be returning.
Absolutely great restaurant! They forgot to sit us after 20ish min. But, following a gentle reminder the problem was fixed. Literally the only reason not all 5 stars. But the food, waiter, bar service was amazing! Great place!
Really enjoyed the ambiance, food and friends! On the pricey side but overall you’re getting what you pay for.
Everything was on point. Prob not the best place for kids or babies. But we really enjoyed ourselves.
Nice atmosphere! Great cocktail ! Delicious food! Service was a little slow but we were not in a hurry. We will be back.
Great atmosphere, really well done decor, and delicious food. We ordered a bunch of veggies and the Brussels sprouts and truffles parsnips were our faves. The gougeres weren’t hot, but that was our only complaint.
It’s not a good sign when both you and your date taste the food and think, “I can cook better than this.”
Maverick continues to be that local go-to for true Texas cuisine. Very comfortable.
Enjoyed my first visit here. My mom & I ate off the restaurant week menu. We were quite disappointed that they were out of the duck confit (the reason we chose this restaurant). The mixed greens salad with champagne vinaigrette was nice, with the appropriate amount of dressing (not too dry and not swimming). The New Zealand grass fed sirloin was tasty (though my mother's was quite undercooked). I'm not a french fry fan and theirs were so tasty (I ate every one of them)! We were told they were also out of the chocolate mousse and we were again disappointed. I am a pastry chef and it does not take long to make mousse (as long as you have someone that knows what they are doing). We settled on another dessert, but were soon told they just made some more mousse. We were delighted at what we received! They use Valrhona chocolate (pricey, incredibly rich & delicious chocolate from France). The flavor was rich, chocolatey, and heavenly. The texture was PERFECT (silky smooth & creamy)! It was the BEST chocolate mousse I've ever had in a restaurant - anywhere!
I visited Maverick during restaurant week and was disappointed I had not discovered this gem sooner. The champagne vinaigrette salad was light and delicious, and the trout almondine was one of the best I have ever tasted. I was so impressed with the meal, that I came back two more times to try the pork confit (they were out of duck) and the New Zealand Grass fed sirloin (medium rare). Both were excellent as were the three different desserts I tried. The wait time was a little long (maybe because of restaurant week), but the servers were all very accommodating and friendly. I will definitely be back.
Maverick was AMAZING! We were visiting from Connecticut for 4 days, looking for a restaurant with great food and atmosphere and found it at Maverick. We even went back two days later. The staff were all friendly and service was spot on. We would highly recommend Maverick!
The food was amazing. Great place!
Service was slow. Food was okay.
excellent service, food was outstanding, will come back again
Overall experience was good we will definitely be back
Loved the decor and lighting. Exceptional food and wine. Courteous and knowlegible wait staff.
Service on point. Food was delicious and everything came to the table as ordered
We went there for Restaurant Week and I think we expected for them to bring out the big guns. We have done this in other places and typically this is where the restaurant showcases its skills. It was nice and quiet and we were seated immediately. The service wasn't bad but not amazing, something that we have experienced elsewhere in San Antonio. The food wasn't bad but the menu online said duck and we got pork belly instead. The pork belly was good but served on a bed of lettuce and with already having a salad as a starter I thought that this was slightly lame. We asked for medium sirloin and got rare, sent it back and got back medium rare. There was supposed to be almonds on the trout and there were none. I mention this because I saw the same meal brought out to other diners that were much better looking. Overall not terrible and the regular menu might be better, but not somewhere I think we would go again.
