At Matterhorn Restaurant & Bakery we showcase the magical experience of Swiss on-mountain dining, whether it’s après-ski, après-work, or après-all day.

Our restaurant focuses on authentic alpine cuisine, thoughtfully sourced and lovingly served in a setting inspired by the mountain "Stüblis" of the Alps. The menu is anchored by the Swiss classics of Fondue and Raclette - but features other typical fare highlighting various alpine regions.

Beer, wine and beverage offerings are designed to feature classic and fun pairings from Old and New World alike.

The Matterhorn has been a San Francisco institution, and we're proud to bring a fresh new chapter to its iconic story. As our guest it's an honor to have you at the story's center!

    It has been a few years since we ate at the Matterhorn, but we had such a great dinner last night we can't wait to return. For an appetizer we shared a delicious cheese fondue called Vampire Hunter, which paired Swiss cheeses and gruyere with sake and sesame garlic oil. In addition to the bread, potatoes and pickled vegetables that come with the fondue, we added apple slices, which we loved. For entrees we tried the Zurich style veal stew in a mushroom and white wine sauce and the Berner rosti - grated potatoes served in a skillet with your choice of toppings (we chose smoked ham, cheese and roasted mushrooms). We would have loved to try the chocolate fondue for dessert, but we were too full from dinner.

    First time dining at Matterhorn and it won’t be our last! Enjoyed celebrating my husband’s heritage with our kids. We drove down from Santa Rosa for a family date night in the city. Thank you for such a wonderful experience

    Best fondue we’ve ever had, with more interesting menu choices than usual. Great service. The cost was quite high per serving, however. If you can afford it, it is great!

    One of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. It’s reminiscent of a Swiss experience with a great selection of various fondues: cheese, meat & chocolate. The staff is welcoming: Sheila as hostess is friendly like family & servers are knowledgeable to help select the right fondu & wine pairing. We love the venue with wood paneling , a gondola & decor with the feel of a Swiss chalet.

    It has been too long since we ate at The Matterhorn and we were so glad to return for great fondue, a delicious salad, and a great bottle of wine reasonably priced. Service was wonderful.
