   This was our third visit to The Matheson since it opened and we were very disappointed by the changes. The prices have increased a lot, especially on the wines. First courses were rather odd in some of the flavors and the portions rather small for the price. Our main courses were very good and the service was excellent but the changes are designed for the wine snobs and the rich tourists. We’re locals and won’t be returning.

   They were very accommodating of our time and table changes and ended up with a. Wry nice table on the second floor for our party of six. The service was a little slow to start but improved as the night went along. The issues we had were; the menu was very limited and apparently they no longer have a sushi menu b/c the sushi chef passed away. :-(. That said, the meat main courses (only 2) were both overpriced and very salty. The best main course was the steelhead trout. The starters were also limited and expensive, flavorful. We ordered mixed drinks to start, they were expensive, there were no salad options and bread and butter was $7… and we brought our own wine (2 bottles) and were charged $30 corkage per bottle which is high being a restaurant in wine country and one of the bottles was from a local Sonoma winery, not offered on their list. We also provided tastes to the Somm and waiter. We did not order dessert. The total bill was over $500. Very expensive for what we got… probably won’t come back but we had a decent meal based on this review. I hope this helps.

   Lovely, unique and classy hot spot in Healdsburg. Overall a winner in every category. Excellent service, food, attention to detail, elegant but wine country casual - excellent wine list and cocktails. You won't be disappointed!

   The Chef’s tasting menu with international wine pairing was a memorable experience. The wait staff and I mean everyone on the floor from the time we walked in the door welcomed and took care of us. Justin, the Sommelier took time to teach and help us decide on enhanced pairings. He was excellent and went above and beyond to make sure our evening was more than dinner and drinks.

   Menu was limited and the setup of the restaurant was odd. Rather than feeling like one place, the “wine wall”, the bar and the restaurant seemed like three separate places. Each making the point that you had to pay separately rather than just running one tab. I get settling at the bar before seating, but I’ve never had that as my greeting! Once seated, took a while to get a bottle of wine. Food was fine.

    We had tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was as expected from a restaurant of this price range - didn't blow our minds with food / service. Highlight of our dining experience was three wines our of six (champagne, white, white white, red, dessert). We were very impressed with the white wines. We would go back because the wine pairing was beautifully done.

    I would rate this restaurant as top 5 in all of Napa Valley—that’s a huge statement for us! Food was very good. We did the tasting menu at $125pp. Everyone in your party needs to do the tasting menu if you go that route. One of the tasting items is trout, which I am not a fan of. They kindly substituted that for me, which was very nice! The service was that of fine dining. Very efficient and very friendly. One thing that shocked me was the prices of wine by the glass. I dine out a lot and these princes shocked me. Almost every glass was $50. Other than that, we definitely recommend and would go back!

    Celebrated my husbands 65th birthday and had a delicious meal. Our server was probably still in training and made a few mistakes during the evening, but the food and wines were absolutely top shelf!

    We had an excellent experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff signed a greeting card and wished us a happy anniversary. We both had the chef tasting and enjoyed every bite. I had an excellent cocktail (Madam Pena). We had a great time and would go back for a special occasion.

    It was our second time at the ground floor, this time we sat at a table with adjacent seats, as requested. The staff was so welcoming, attentive and polite. Everything we ordered from drinks to appetizers and desserts were excellent. We are already planning what to order the next time.

    Food and service was good. We started with cocktails upstairs which is a great vibe and very friendly staff. We had a reservation at 7:45. We went downstairs about 7:20 and waited for our table. There were a few open tables but they did not seat us (at one of the tables that was open) until our exact time of 7:45. The service was good. We had the burrata for an appetizer. The for dinner we ordered duck, salmon, short ribs and steak. It was all very tasty. There are no salads on the menu which is a little disappointing. Overall good experience.

    Had a great time at the Matheson! Everyone in our group enjoyed the Chef's Tasting and all the courses were wonderfully prepared. The sommelier was very helpful with the wines we brought in suggesting when they should be opened and with which courses they would best pair. This is not a place you go to feel "stuffed" rather to enjoy the art of food preparation. We're locals and will definitely be returning with friends.

    Great location, nice ambiance! Service was exceptional. I ordered the halibut and it was disappointing. A small portion, a bit dry, minimal curry sauce on the side. Rice would have been a good addition and a bit more sauce. My husband got the short ribs and they were delicious. Our desert was very good.

    We celebrated our 23rd anniversary with the great people at Matheson! The room is artfully decorated with a buzz of activity, and the food is prepared and plated with love. Every bite was so delicious! And our server, Alana could not have been nicer! She treated us like old friends and we certainly felt at home. Overall, the evening could not have been better. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend the smoked trout, the duck and the butterscotch pudding!
