The Mash Tun sits beside the River Spey, nestled in beautiful Aberlour. Recently refurbished, it is now a stylish boutique hotel. This historic establishment has been transformed into a beacon of Scottish hospitality, marrying tradition with contemporary luxury.
Our small restaurant offers fine dining without the fuss and a cosy and intimate ambiance.
The whisky bar boasts a magnificent stock of Scottish malts, with a few guest stars from around the world and our own award winning Stalla Dhu range. We also boast our own cigar humidor where guests can choose from an impressive selection of Cuban and New World cigars, to be enjoyed in our enclosed and heated cigar hut!
We look forward to welcoming you soon.

The Mash Tun Hotel restaurant was a perfect choice to have a meal. The food was delicious and service very professional. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

An iconic restaurant (and hotel) in the middle of Speyside's Aberlour. The location and building have a lot of atmosphere and the whisky collection is large. The food is very well done but the choices are fairly similar to many pubs and hotels. Fish and Chips, Venison etc. This is similar to much of The Highlands (other than the Maltese/Scottish Printers Rest in Wick!). Having said that their spiced, potted prawns are very nice and also interesting. Also some good cocktails with a twist. Whisky flights are great, good value and some interesting combinations. I wasn't overly impressed by the whisky knowledge compared to a few years ago but it was very busy so maybe that's why. Although I'm adding a few negatives this is a very good place to visit and one of the better restaurants in the Highlands so I recommend that you give it a try.

Small whisky bar/restaurant/bar. Food is good and fairly priced. Service can be a bit patchy at peak times but that’s the same with any small restaurant with a big influx of summer visitors. However , overall experience is of friendly staff and good service. Location is good with views of the Spey and the building is beautiful . Excellent selection of whiskies and wines but limited beers and ales.

I booked the table to day before on open table, called the restaurant to check our booking was good and all was confirmed. We arrived 30 minutes early with the intent to taste some whisky’s at the bar first. We were seated at our table and told there was a new booking system and we were double booked, so we had an hour. We skipped the whisky and ordered our food immediately. We were again told we had an hour. The food was great, we left as quickly as we could but really disappointed we didn’t have an evening of food and whisky experience, but ‘an hour ‘. We were back at our hotel by 8pm.

We had an awesome meal at the Mash Tun Hotel. The inside of the restaurant is very cool. They were running a little behind and the manager offered drinks while we had to wait (very short wait). The staff was very friendly and the service was great. Next time we are in Scotland, we plan to come back again for dinner.
