   Had the chicken and Parma ham parfait which was as nice but think if the brioche was toasted may have made it even better perhaps ? Had the roast beef which was as so tender and soft and everything on that plate was delicious best dinner I’ve ever eaten for a long time ! Lovely friendly staff very welcoming shall definitely visit again Thankyou all

   On our mission to discover a good country pub close to home we came across the Martlett Inn. The food was superb, great atmosphere and a lovely pub (even in the pouring rain), but what stood out for us was the service. The lovely lady was all by her self, and there were about 10 tables plus the bar, but she was unflustered and made us feel really valued. Such service is very hard to find these days, but she delivered it with ease. Definitely worth a visit.

   The venue is lovely and the food was excellent. However, although the staff were professional and very friendly, we had to wait a long time for our main course and an even longer wait for dessert and coffee.

   Our second Sunday lunch here and we thought the food was better than the first time. Good service given the Inn was very busy. Unusually we both had the same two courses, the beef was very rare which was fine by me but my wife likes it a bit more well done. Veggies were excellent and it all tasted great. Service was a bit rushed but as I said it was very busy. For sweet we had the Catalan custard crème which was excellent. Also value for money was amazing. £4.95 for a medium Merlot is outstanding. Love it and will be back.

   We have eaten at the Martlet Inn quite a few times and it never disappoints. The food and service are terrific.

   We were a group of 8 and chose the Martlet from reviews however we came away a little disappointed. The staff were really friendly and apologetic and so it’s a shame we have given a lower rating. It was a pleasant ambience and the food came out reasonably promptly. The soup was lovely but the beef dinner was very disappointing. One can appreciate eclectic atmosphere but the plants around us weren’t really as healthy as you’d expect for being on display and possibly the cause for ants crawling around and lots of cobwebs. The manager was lovely and maybe it was just an off day but for us it was very disappointing as it was a birthday lunch.

   The table was for 6 and we got put in the corner of the conservatory with very limited space on the one side which felt very claustrophobic after knocking pot plants over on the windowsill just to get up to use the facilities, that’s how close to the window we were. Placed our orders, they all came out in fair time and then one was wrong so got returned and had to then wait for the food. Ok, mistakes get made, drink on the house given. It was mainly the lack of service, no checking to see if it was all alright especially after they had got the order wrong, no re-occurring drink order we had to go to the bar and order another etc. A little disappointed on the choices on the menu and seemed to be lacking service/staff. Previous to this, we have had a good meal but this was on a Sunday where Roast is a go-to.
