The Martlet has earned sincere fondness from customers for many years. Situated in picturesque Langford Budville, just a stone's throw from Wellington, we offer really fantastic food and genuinly warm hospitality. Inside our pretty country pub you'll find log burners, 17th century flagstone floors and a delightful glass dining room.

Our menu is a blend of stand-out restaurant-style dishes, tempered with comforting pub favourites. All created and prepared by our talented team of Chefs - Marcin, Shane and Alfie. Combine this with our fabulous cask ales - brewed in-house at our very own Black Bear Brewery, or a glass of wine supplied by local vinter Paddy Magill. Country dining at it's best.

I’m hoping we picked a particularly challenging day for the staff who were very lovely and friendly but very slow and forgot things we’d asked for. Food was unfortunately overcooked and bean burger tasted burnt. For price was not overly impressed but I’m sure they can do better. Hopefully just an off night. Shame they have reduced bitter selection to their own brand and one other. That only works if the clientele are new. This could put off the locals if they can get a better choice.

The Martlet is my favourite place to eat and have a drink. However, I went last night with two friends to eat there and the service was awful. No one warned that there were only two chefs. The lady that was obviously in charge bordered on being rude. The young man serving was very pleasant but obviously it was all out of his control. We arrived at 7 and asked if we could have a drink outside before we went to our table at 7.15, which was the time it was booked. When we walked inside to tell the lady we were ready to go to our table, she grabbed the menu out of my hand and said she needed it for another table. We sat down and we were ready to order which took a while. Then we waited until 8.00 get our food, luckily we weren’t having starters. Our plates were taken at 8.45. We weren’t even offered dessert and had to ask all the way through for drinks. At 9.10 someone came over and said did we want desserts but it would be a long wait! !!! I think we knew that by then. We asked for the bill and left. As we were leaving someone called after us, “sorry for the “wait”. This was a Friday night , so what was the issue. Pull your socks up !

Lovely airy conservatory. Good service and banter. Interesting dishes on the menu not run of the mill fare. Price was very reasonable. Sadly too full for dessert. An enjoyable evening.

It was a great British pub newly refurbished and so highly recommended you try for yourself. I particularly commend Beth who was super helpful.

When we got there to celebrate a birthday we were greeted with a board with a sign on it stating “closed for refurbishment “ Why were we not advised of this either at the time of our booking or by phone or email prior to our long journey to the pub? Very poor way to run a business, especially one that survives on word of mouth about quality of food and service provision! However all was not lost as we went to another establishment where we enjoyed the meal so much that we booked our 50th wedding anniversary there for 30 plus people which was intended to be at the Martlet.

Had the chicken and Parma ham parfait which was as nice but think if the brioche was toasted may have made it even better perhaps ? Had the roast beef which was as so tender and soft and everything on that plate was delicious best dinner I’ve ever eaten for a long time ! Lovely friendly staff very welcoming shall definitely visit again Thankyou all

On our mission to discover a good country pub close to home we came across the Martlett Inn. The food was superb, great atmosphere and a lovely pub (even in the pouring rain), but what stood out for us was the service. The lovely lady was all by her self, and there were about 10 tables plus the bar, but she was unflustered and made us feel really valued. Such service is very hard to find these days, but she delivered it with ease. Definitely worth a visit.
