We have dined here over the years, and have always found the food to be well prepared with creative menu options! Our last visit was disappointing due to the service. Our waiter forgot about us more than once, which gave us tome to observe the cobwebs and critters in the cute corner we sat in on the porch. The fig goat cheese special appetizer was delicious! It’s something I wanted to get an extra order of - to go! We had the macadamia encrusted cod, so good! The sweet potato puree and the drizzled green sauce (which I will be trying to replicate at home) brought the flavors together beautifully! The broiled shrimp with spicy slaw was also a hit, the flavors and textures are surprisingly satisfying, amazing! We will be back - the food is always really good and we enjoy the culinary experience! Hats off to the the chef!
Last night's dinner was perfect. We were there a few weeks ago and the smell of Pinesol was overwhelming. The food never disappoints.
Great dinner, food was excellent. Seemed very busy so service as a bit slow (eg wanted a glass of wine with my dinner but by the time I could order and brought to table, dinner was over).
They have a great Happy Hour! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the porch! The fried calamari was the perfect appetizer…yum!. The chopped Greek salad was perfectly dressed. The orecchiette with sausage was delicious. An added bonus was the music! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
P.S. The service is always outstanding!
It was my first time dining here and I met a friend for lunch. I always like a tavern atmosphere and this place has it for sure. My friend had the tacos which she enjoyed very much. I had the tavern salad with blackened chicken and goat cheese over arugula. It was the perfect t lunch for me. The people there are friendly and just very nice. I'd like to try it for dinner soon with my family.
Ordered appetizers with initial waitress, we’re never told specials. Head waitress came over 20 minutes later telling us, unsolicited , she’ll bring the specials menu and bread. Twenty minutes later head waitress came back asking to take our order when I reminded her that we didn’t receive specials menu. Asked the initial waitress for bread as we were still waiting for appetizers, she said ok but forgot too. Nearly an hour after ordering appetizers and still waiting, we left. It’s one thing to be busy and I understand that, but the wait staff totally forgot about us, not once but several times and this was with different staff members. Can’t say anything about the food as we didn’t get any after nearly an hour of waiting, but the service was horrible. I don’t recommend Martinsville Tavern.
Excellent food. Service with a HUGE smile and genuine. Be a regular there, you'll love it!
We were there at lunch time so a quieter atmosphere than during dinner. Great food as always and enjoy coming to this spot. Love having this neighborhood joint so close by!
1st Time ,
The food was very good , service attentive & friendly
Cocktail wasn’t great , seemed like there wasn’t any vodka in it ?
Also presentation for an $11 drink should be better
I plan on coming back
Seated promptly. Server greeted us and took drink order and filled water glasses. Just came for a chat with friends and ordered 3 appetizers, which were all delicious. Meatballs ( 2 large-sized portions), the calamari (delicious chili sauce) and mussels in a marinara sauce, served not too spicy as requested. Bread was delivered to table and replenished. A very lovely interlude at 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Will come again and order a nice dinner
Party of 6 and everyone was very happy with food
We ate at the bar. Food was great, drinks were great. Bartender was alone but took care of everyone! Loved it
We loved the food and the atmosphere. The background music was lovely.
It took a bit long from the time we were seated to get service, but it was explained by our waitress that she was the only server that evening. And she was great. Very pleasant, as were the others who attended to our table.
Had the salmon w risotto-it was amazing.
Parking lot is a bit of a challenge so i recommend using the valet.
Love the food at Martinsville Tavern. The service is great too.
Amazing meal and service. The dinner music was a really nice touch. Everything we had for our meal was outstanding.
This was a tough one. The food was decent, but the service (other than the runner) was abysmal. We saw our waiter once -- never came back to see if we wanted a second round, never stopped to ask how the food was, did not come over to ask about dessert. We literally had to flag someone down to get the check. And no, it wasn't crowded. The burrata with melon and prosciutto appetizer was a nice combo, and the meatballs were tasty. The $33 hanger steak was tasty, but the "sautéed spinach" was a tablespoon of steamed spinach and two wedges of potato was the starch. All in all, not on the list of return places unless we can guarantee a different server.
First time coming here. Nice restaurant. Ambiance was ok. Service was good. Food was very good. Will go again soon. My one beef was that the lettuce wedge salad was served in a deep, narrow bowl making it very difficult to cut into bite size pieces. The bowl was very pretty and would be fine for any other salad. Lettuce wedges need to be served on a plate in in a shallow, flat bowl.
Most of the food was good; service was great; we sat in the enclosed “porch” area so it was open and brighter than the tavern area. It has a typical tavern atmosphere which is nice. We were there on a Monday night and they had a decent crowd.
You must try this restaurant. From the warm welcome, attentive service, great mixology, and fantastic food everything works at the Martinsville Tavern.
Consistently delicious and well prepared food. Staff is very accommodating. I've been here dozens of times for both lunch and dinner and the food has always exceeded expectations. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Fun night with a friend in the bar area. Always hopping. Excellent summer menu, happy hour prices and delicious fare. Service is always good...
Truly consistent..great and creative food..glad to be back!
The menu looked great but the food was disappointing. We had the crab cake for an appetizer and it had a very strange consistency. The top was rubbery and could not be cut. And the crab cake consistency was very dense and pasty - very strange. For my entree I had chicken Francese which was tasty but overloaded with sauce. Disappointing.
Great service, wry attentive. Our meal and dessert were excellent! Will definitely be back!
Great food, service, and friendly employees! Highly recommend the Martinsville Tavern!
There was music that was perfect and food was delicious!
Never a bad meal here
Excellent service and food as always
This place is EXACTLY what the Martinsville/ Bridgewater area needs! Great cocktails, eclectic menu and friendly/ competent staff. Best part? SO reasonably priced! I had the $34.95 3-course Surf & Turf dinner offered on Monday nights. WHAT!?! 3 courses for $34.95 with the entree being a 4oz filet and 4oz lobster tail. Yeah man, I'm in :) Their octopus app special is also a winner.
I've been searching for my very own "Cheers" bar my entire life. A place I love to visit for the conversation/ laughs with consistently good food/ drink that doesn't break the bank. A place where everyone knows my name... Martinsville Tavern might very well be my "Cheers". Enthusiastically recommend!
Excellent food. The mussels are always our favorite but I had the Bronzino as well - it was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked and the portion size was great. Best of all was our server Nicole. Two weeks ago she was our bar tender and she remembered us! She's outgoing and funny and makes the entire dinner a great experience - not to mention that all of her recommendations were spot on!
The manger Nicole was one of the managers i’ve ever ever encountered in my dining experience
Food is very good, never disappointed. Servers were very professional and attentive. Be sure to make a reservation, restaurant was busy on a Tuesday night.
Our first visit but can't wait to return for another excellent meal. A little disappointed that they ran out of veal, but that is just proof of how fresh their menu items are!
Wonderful neighborhood bistro with excellent food, friendly wait staff and fair prices. Highly recommended!
Great menu, service, and atmosphere. The live music was a nice surprise!
Sat in front section, killed 3 flies. Ordered drinks. They took about 20 mins to come. They did apologize that they couldn’t find brand vodka. Waitress said she would bring bread as drink order was taken. Never came, said again as she brought drinks. Never came. I finally asked busboy. Needless to say 6:15 reservation. Got out of there at 8:10. As a neighboring table got steak well as was supposed to be MR . They sent back. Then had to get up and get check. I know it’s hard to find help now a days. And I was patient. Not a good 1st impression.
The food and atmosphere is very good. It was very busy so the owner himself was waiting on us and he was very honest did his best. We were not in any hurry so it was fine. The live music is very nice.
My boyfriend and I went for the summer wine dinner event and it was delicious. We had a 5 course meal and enjoyed every morsel. Can’t wait to go back
Food Service was very slow - waited forever for the drinks. The waiter was very nice and did his best. We also saw him do valet parking.
