The Marshal focuses on producing brick-oven cuisine by using sustainable and renewable energy and items from local farmers, wineries and distilleries. It even uses local apple and cherry wood to burn in the wood-fired oven. The Marshal serves brunch on the weekends and federal holidays, and it serves dinner every day of the week. The menus change daily, depending on seasonal items that are available. A sample of the menu items includes goat cheese and herb stuffed bone-in chicken breast, wood-oven braised sirloin tips and bourbon molasses BBQ pork ribs. The Marshal offers an extensive cocktail, liquor and wine list including white, red, rose, library and dessert wines.
Once a year treat to my staff to experience the wonder of farm to table in NYC! Excellent food that keeps us coming back year after year! Love the energy, service and intimate seating!
Fast service. Great food and good drinks! Lovely little neighborhood spot.
Going to a show
Magical atmosphere and amazing food - real New York experience
The Marshal has been a favorite for my wife and I for several years, and we love the local, farm-to-table ambiance!
We did arrive a bit late for our reservation but was told we only had 1 hr to eat. This was a business dinner and I was quite embarrassed. Tables were extremely close together. The food was outstanding tho!!
Ribs are a must have! Service was very good. A real find, especially pre theater.
The service was excellent and the food is always good here. The only downside was that there was a strong fish smell in the place and it stayed on our clothes for the rest of the night (my apologies to the people next to us in the theater).
Extremely limited menu!
Loved everything about our experience, except how cramped we were at our table. There were five of us seated at a table that was really only meant for four, despite having reservations.
Absolutely amazing food! Definitely worth a visit. Gorgeous little place.
Wait staff and ambiance were fantastic. Food was amazing and the NY wine list is very reasonable. Highly recommend.
Fabulous food!! Can’t stop thinking about it!! Telling all my friends to stop by!!
The tables were way way way too close together. It was quite uncomfortable. The food was nothing special. The burrata was quite good but you have to pay $7 if you want bread to go with it. They definitely want to charge you like you’re at a fine dining restaurant but the experience is more like a random average place where you eat and get out. The service was quite lovely though. Our server was great.
Second time visiting the restaurant and have enjoyed it both times . Small restaurant with tightly packed tables but really good food!
Love this place! It's literally a hole in the wall, but well situated near the West 42nd Street Theatre Row
as well as other theaters. They are great about serving the meals without rushing but getting diners out in time to make the curtain time/ Food is farm to table and amazingly well prepared considering the size of the kitchen. Each dish was perfectly cooked and well presented. Service was perfect.
Lovely server and the menu was fab and the food that came out delicious. I defo want to go again :)
Had a great dinner here in-between Harry Potter shows. Easy location to walk to from Times Square. Small restaurant- make reservations. Food was fantastic. Farm to table. Incredibly fresh. Friendly service. One of the best restaurants we ate at while visiting NY. Highly recommend.
Stumbled upon this little hideawy through a google search for restaurants in Hells Kitchen. The menu looked good so we figured we would give it a try. There were 4 of us out celebrating my Birthday. Although the place is very small, they do what they can with the limited space and although it was a little tight I did not feel cramped. The food was delish, the service was top notch, and the drink menu was varied and interesting. I would definitely recommend this restaurantand will definitely go back.
tables were a little close together/food was excellent-perfect portions
I love this place. My new favorite. Food and service was top notch- fresh, hot, delicious, original, friendly and attentive. I'll be back!
RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED. Update your app
Hi there, I'm afraid you are confused. We're open as always at The Marshal. We hope to see you again soon. Best, Charlie Marshall Chef / Owner
Wonderful meal after a Broadway show!!
The food at The Marshal is fabulous! Fresh and delicious! I had the French toast for brunch and it was sweet but so yummy! I can’t wait to go back for dinner!
Sarah, our favorite server in the Western Hemisphere, makes this place one of our favorites in the city. The food is reliably hearty and fresh and tasty, and the ambience is hygge. :).
Great food! Loved the waitress and the ambience. Everything was delicious! Loved the cocktails!!!!!
Great food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was awesome. The service was excellent. I will definitely return.
What a dammed Local alcohols selection.....very friendly staff....very good food
We went on the recommendation of a local friend. The food was great. We weren't that hungry so ordered salad and combo sides. Every single thing was delicious. We ended up chatting with the people at the next table who also liked their food. Everything is local--even the whiskies are from NY. It's a place you can take a vegetarian because of the great sides--you can put together a great veg meal that way.
Food was well prepared. $7 for bread that was over done was over the top. Entree salad was small. The seating area is very tight which is not that unusual for NYC.
A unique experience. The food is great and unusual. The fresh French bread is not to be missed, with its soft homemade butter. We enjoyed all the dishes we had. And their wine list is exclusively Finger Lakes and Long Island - a real treat, though not cheap. But I have never experienced tables so close together. Maybe 3 inches between tables. I had trouble buttering my bread without elbowing the guy next to me. The final bill was hefty but we enjoyed memorable food and wine for that price. I will go back.
Comfort meal! Very filling. Lacking on the cocktail menu but overall the food was satisfying. Ordered biscuits and French toast was one of the best I’ve had.
Good food and great service.
Will return again for brunch- the biscuits are delicious!
The Marshal had everything I typically like - interesting menu, locally sourced ingredients, great atmosphere. But it was very disappointing. The food was at best average and priced as though it was great. We had an assortment of foods - the mussels were in a thick and unappetizing cream sauce. The salad was anemic. Deviled eggs were terrific. Finally, I love the focus on local ingredients, but the wine list was all NY wines and if I'm having a nice and expensive meal, I want to drink good wine. With all the great choices in NYC, I wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone.
This is a good place to have dinner before or after seeing a Broadway show. On a recent visit, the cauliflower soup was novel though a little on the bland side. Main course fish dish was very good. Smashed potatoes in duck fat were not at all smashed. (The whole point of smashing them is to provide more surface area to get crisp as the potatoes cook in oil.) These were just boiled (?) potatoes sitting in a little duck fat... A big disappointment. Overall, a good meal, but could have been much better.
Although the restaurant is very small, the experience of dining at The Marshal was exemplary. The wait staff was professional and friendly, the food was beyond delicious, and the suggestions made for dinner selections were perfect. I highly recommend a visit to The Marshal!
A very small space but a unique choice for the theater district. The menu is sourced from local farms and businesses mostly from the Hudson Valley. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely add it to our list of go to places pre-theater.
Food was great! Very small place! Make a reservation or you won’t get in. Had the ribs they were yummy! Husband had pasta with bay scallops which was a special, also yummy. Had pork meatballs and Mac and cheese w bacon, it was great! Only disappointment were the piped mash potatoes with cheese and bacon- to watery. Would definitely go back
We were staying midtown so wanted a restaurant nearby. We saw that the Marshall had good reviews so decided to give it a try. I’m glad we did. The food was excellent and the service likewise. We were recommended a local NY State wine which went really well with the food. All in all a good choice.
