   When we arrived at Chapters Hotel and explained that we had a booking for the Market Bar and Grill, we were advised that the Market Bar and Grill had been sold last year and had since closed down. Fortunately, we were able to find an alternative Restaurant in the town. I have since discussed this with friends and family and some had also had bad experiences when booking through Open Table. As l result, in future I will not use Open Table, but will ring the venue direct.

   New chef, new menu. new décor. We went last Saturday night after an email advertising the new concept. There were only 3 couples in the restaurant. Such a shame as the food was excellent and the service outstanding. Belly pork main was delicious. Looking forward to another visit this weekend. Once word gets around I am sure it will be hard to get a table

   This is within Chapters Hotel, Stokesley, North Yorkshire. We live in a village outside the town. We haven't been here for years and thought we'd give it a go for change. What a let down. The place was empty apart from 2 couples eating at whatever stage their meal was at. It was bereft of any ambience/atmosphere. I felt sorry for the young man who was very pleasant and was the only member of staff apparent who served us. We had a drink and left. The poor guy was even dashing to reception to answer the telephone!! My wife had a glass of wine which was acidic and not of a decent quality. We will never go there again. The place is unrateable.

   Disappointed with the food, the service and the overall experience. I have had a number of good meals here but felt there had been a signing fix any decline in the food and service and I wouldn't risk returning!

   Our Waiter was very welcoming and helpful, when he wasn't busy doing other things. The surroundings were uninspirational - more like a public loo with the white wall tiles. Equally the food an menu - overpriced and poor choice - if you want burgers you go to a Burger Bar of which there are plenty similar in Stokesley.

   At the start of the evening I asked for a mocktail and was told they didn't do cocktails. No alternative was suggested. The menu is quite basic. The starter of whitebait was enjoyable but no lemon was served with it. Our main of moules and frites/burger took a while to arrive and the chips were cold. There was no bowl to place the empty shells in and no finger bowls. Although staff did come out and ask if everything was ok, we all felt a bit forgotten. We felt very much that this is a hotel only and not a place to eat socially. Although we are all from the local area, we would not eat there again.

   Great food and service. Valentines meal. Wasn't very busy, could have been marketed better. Definitely recommended.
