The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges Ratings and Reviews
I had heard a lot about how wonderful Jean Georges' restaurants are. We went to The Mark for their prix fix menu on Valentines day. It was 150 a person for an appetizer, entree and dessert. The food was mediocre and I found they used fresh truffles to try and account for a lack of flavor. The fresh fettuccine with truffles was woefully under seasoned. The chicken dish was gross almost tasted like a wet sock. The only redeeming part of the night was the dessert. However at 150 a person, I could have bought several cakes and enjoyed them.
The waiters themselves were very kind but the manager who was taking care of us left halfway through our service, delaying our later courses and did not inform us this was happening. We waited about 30 minutes between our entree and dessert courses. I just found this place to be immensely overrated.
Delicious! Great place to be able to have a conversation and outstanding food. Service is the best / they check in when needed but also allow you the luxury to talk and enjoy. For dessert I highly recommend the Profiteroles which are spectacular! It is pricey but, if you don’t mind the expense it is worth every penny.
Live in the neighborhood and hadn't been for some time so was happily surprised to have liked it as much as the four of us in our party did! Everything we ordered was delicious and the service could not have been better. Standouts were the Boston lettuce and avocado salad and my husband loved his lamb chops. Will definitely be returning soon!
The service was outstanding. We had a problem with one of our meals and they couldn’t be more accommodating. They really stepped up. The manager was great. Didn’t get to thank him when we left but left word with one of the waiters. The food was great. The dining room very pretty.
Horrible experience. Was celebrating friend’s 50th bday. Had dover sole....$70 for a small piece of overcooked fish was horrible. The crispy sushi appetizer was fishy. What happened? I had these before and they were quite good. Also, service was just horrible. Refilling water glasses and wine glasses took forever. Unlikely to cone back.
Elegant setting. Very nice bar area with lounge area. Dining area very spacious, and noise level very conducive to being able to have a conversation.
Wide choice of appetizers and entrees. We had the salmon, cooked just right and the sea bass.
Staff is very attentive, but not overbearing.
My first visit, will definitely repeat
Wonderful meal on a cold winter's evening. We went with four appetizers (for variety and caloric control): butternut squash soup that was as good of its kind as can be, enlivened with wild mushrooms; tuna tartare with ginger; thin-crust pizza with truffles and fontina cheese (crust was useful for mopping up the soup at the bottom of the plate), and spicy chicken samosas. The room was beautiful, dark and orange and lit by dim electric and candle light so you felt as if you were in a tent in the desert. Service was friendly and efficient. With cocktails and a berry dessert, we paid ~$200 and were fully satisfied. Will go again.
Went for Sunday brunch for my NY birthday weekend. Service was impeccable as was most of the food. My mother and I both got the eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached to perfection however we both commented that the Holandaise sauce lacked flavor. It would also have been a nice complement to have a fruit wedge or berry accompaniment.
Very disappointing experience . The meal felt very hurried and when I complained to both Managers on duty nothing changed . The restaurant wasn’t busy for a Friday night . We ordered Salad, Soup, Oysters , and Sushi , Pasta to share as an intermediate course and entre and dessert . They brought the first 5 dishes to the table all at once . I asked if we were at a fast food restaurant but nothing was done . Not an apology, complementary appetizer , a glass of wine, nothing . Very poor Customer experience . The food was very good and the decor nice . The bar in the entrance prior to dining was nice and the staff very attentive and responsive there .
