The food was very good but the service was terrible.
Waiter and staff were not attentive and didn't clean table and was exceptional slow..
Forgot to serve the amuse.
The GM said they were having staffing problems and that was the reason but that is his problem and not mine.
No one seemed to be in charge.
The Mark ruined what should have been a wonderful anniversary dinner.
Based on the service, I would not go back especially based on their very high prices.
Other restaurant at this level have excellent food and service which is why people go there.
Save your money and go somewhere else.
A good UES hotel restaurant. I really liked the menu and wine list, creative and varied. The pasts I did not like were layout (1/3 of people passing me hit the back of my chair), noise level, and some aspects of service (I never like cold butter being put on the table).
Ambiance and personnel outstanding. Service excellent without being hauty. Disappointed in caeser salad Just ordinary and bland. Good good but overpriced. Wine and liquor prices over the moon. On the rocks not even a full glass for what they charged. Hostess Jeniffer exceptional . Be sure to ask for back room. Quieter waiters very nice
I mentioned that it was a special occasion and they gave us the best table and brought over a dessert that said happy graduation. Thank you!
We had an excellent experience at The Mark and look forward to returning for another delicious meal.
As always this is a perfect dining setting. The food, ambiance and service is delicious and professional.
My guests loved it and will return soon.
service totally indifferent -difficult to wave down a waiter. embarrassing when entertaining. food, less than expected.
Eater's delight! All--please know this is a wondrous place where the waiters speak French, Italian, and Spanish (if not more), address their customer's with the utmost respect, and have a wonderful (but not invasive) sense of humor. The value is well worth it. I had the scallops, and they were beautifully cooked and paired with roaster green peppers. The portions are perfect. I can't say enough about how accommodating the staff is. The ambiance was incredible; cozy yet spacious; greenery abound, but sleek. Not very loud at all, and the music was low, and agreeable. The menu is very well paired to the wine list.
Service was poor - ordering took awhile even though place was half full, then food took a long time to come out and was just ok and servers kept giving dishes to the wrong person at the table.
While the food was good the service was terrible - our lunch took forever and we had to ask repeatedly for things to be fixed... disappointing!
Always a great neighborhood favorite. Consistency in food and service.
Excellent location. Good place for a business breakfast. Staff is very attentive and not intrusive. Food is simple with excellent quality.
So we come here on a regular basis
So disgusted by the bathrooms
No toilet paper, no towels to dry your hands, no bathroom attendants. The floor was a mess just really gross and unkept
I get back to my table and a bus boy steps on my foot at my table
I’m wearing open toed $ 1400 new shoes and a pedicure while he steps on my foot w big black shoes
My shoes are then filthy , my toe is black and throbbing
Just said sorry and walks away
Didn’t bother saying anything to the manager since he saw what happened and didn’t come over
I’m officially adding this to my list of never again
Nursing my toe and getting a pedicure
Tres decevant tres cher tres bruyant, pas au niveau de jean georges service nul, sommelier ignorant
The disappointing evening began with a very cold greeting by the maitre d’ and an assistant. I had requested a quiet table, and ended up with table in a wonderfully bright room with piercing noise level, and maybe 6 inches away from two men who seemed to think it was important that we hear their entire conversation. Not the fault of the restaurant - but beware that if you are seated anywhere that room in a banquet your neighbors will be practically sitting in our lap. I asked that we be moved, and we were taken to a table adjacent to the kitchen door. It was in a less noisy area. I did not mind sitting by the kitchen, as I assumed that would ensure our servers would be nearby. Wrong! The “service’”, if you can call it that, was mostly non-existent. Clearly, this restaurant does not follow the quaint custom of restaurants at any level - especially at overpriced celebrity-chef restaurants - of having the captain and the waiter (a) ask how the food is, (b) inquire during the meal whether there was anything else that was needed, and (c) keep an eye out during the meal so that the patron does not have to flag down other waitstaff to get a refill of water. The food was mostly ordinary, at best. What a terrible disappointment. New York City offers so many better options, both in the high end and at the neighborhood level.
Used to be better but is a nice place to have lunch with some friends
Love Brunch at the Mark. Extensive menu whether you want breakfast or lunch. Service was very professional as well. Started with the black truffle pizza, had a burger, and several salads with chicken and salmon. All cooked to perfection. A very extensive wine list as well.
It was my 40th birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better celebration! Everything was perfect!
Beautiful setting. Disappointed that meat dish came too rare and condiments requested never came. Waiter served and only returned with bill. Disappointing.
Always excellent and a pleasure
Service was a bit slow. For the prices they should start off everyone with a basket of baked goods at the table.
This place is just overrated!
It was ok but not worth it for the price they charge. Much better innovative cuisine in NY than that place. Service was excellent though. My best plate was the soufflé, the rest was very average, almost industrial cuisine. Sorry
I was very surprised about the service.
We waited more than an hour to receive the food. I had to asked 4 times for the manager and he didn’t come until I called him directly.
Always very slow service. They have multiples of waiters all with their own duties and sour faced and not friendly!
Really limited brunch menu that felt more like poolside hotel menu than gourmet restaurant (pizza, burgers, salads). Not at all how the menu is billed on the restaurant description.
Service was unapologetically bad. Timing off so that half of party finished entrees before the others even came. Waiters were so clueless that they couldn’t even understand there was an issue. Impossible to get attention of waiters. Asked for things (lemon) three times and still didn’t get them.
When paying $37 for a burger, I at least expect top notch service. This was poor even for an everyday restaurant, let alone one that considers itself world class. T
If you have a special occasion that needs the very best food, location, service, and comfort The Mark is the place to pick! I have long love Jean George Restaurants but I think The Mark is one of the best.
Food is okay. But since we brought a birthday cake, they charged us for cutting the cake $8/ person (8 people: $64). Thy did not notify us of the service fee from the beginning to the end, only shown on the bill . And the manager’s attitude when responding to questioning was horrific, looks like “you people are nobody” and doesn’t care about us at all. We felt very uncomfortable!!!
Food was nondescript, forgot one of the drinks ordered.
We have been to The Mark numerous times, however, last time the food and service were off. It was disappointing, but I know that this place is usually very good, so I am hopeful that this was a one time bad experience.
When we arrive, our table was not ready for the time of our lunch reservation. we were told to wait by the bar. No one came and got us so afte 10 mins i went back to the hostess asking for our table. Finally we were seated. The appetizers were very yummy. However Our main course came at least an hour after our appetizer and not apologies from the staff. The food took so long we had to skip dessert because we ran late for afternoon meetings.
This is a restaurant that never disappoints. I've been going for years. It hits all the high spots--fabulous cuisine, a menu of intelligence and variety, superb service, great people watching, and best of all, quieting acoustics that even when the room is full and buzzing, make a conversation no problem whatsoever. Two wishes: Could they offer wines by the glass that are higher quality? Could the wine list include more wines in the $100-$200 range?
$170 pp price fix Mother’s Day dinner that didn’t come close to meeting expectations. They first tried to seat us in the bar, then a dark table in the corner of what is usually a PDR, then finally an acceptable table. However is was next to the entrance to the lobby and when those doors were opened, it created a cold wind tunnel, which we endured throughout the dinner.
One entree (chicken) was cold and inedible and had to be sent back l, so they substituted a pasta. The desserts never came and when we inquired, the waiter said “it’s no ones fault... but the downstairs kitchen messed up the orders” (doesn’t that mean it is someone’s fault?).
Apps and other entrees were fine. Just not worth the $, so would not recommend.
This was a Mother's Day Special Brunch, more of a dinner than a brunch. Although our waiter forgot the amuse bouche we had a delicious meal. I loved the lobster with risotto and my companion, the lamb We would have like a few more strawberries on the scrumptious shortcake..
Wonderful food and outstanding service. Come here often and love it every time.
We went for Mother's Day Brunch, but were not provided with the Mother's Day Brunch menu until they offered dessert. We had to ask for syrup for our pancakes, a spoon for the seasonal berries and for a new water glass because one was chipped. The waiter took our order, including for toast, but the toast never arrived. They never offered to refresh the coffee, which had gone cold.
The food was fine, but not great.
Overall, a disappointment.
Waiter rushed taking dinner orders and did not come back till after we finished our meal . Very disappointed with the service
Waiter was busy with a bigger group .
Restaurant has gone way down hill. So sad. Will never return.
Sat our group next to a table bussing station - servers were polite but in our way and rummaging for cutlery literally 2 feet from our faces. It was so crowded and felt like we were in the “cheap seats”. We’ve been to the Mark 5 times. I’m not hurrying back.
