Food was mediocre and seriously overpriced. Atmosphere and service were great, but not worth the prices.
Very good service, except the arrive and seating. Many hosts at the door and they were very unorganized. The food was good. Great wine list.
Excellent overall experience--terrific food and service.
Great as usual
Excellent service and attention, combined with delicious food
Food was excellent. Service was top notch. This is the real deal - will not disappoint.
Came here for Valentines Day lunch with my husband to celebrate the anniversary of our wedding proposal. Food was more like a nice hotel restaurant than the signature Jean Georges experience. While most of what was ordered was tasty, it’s was just not as good as the regular Jean Georges restaraunt in the Trump tower. And also not as accommodating. I wanted to order chick pea fries but was unable to because the fryer oil used was the same one as for the calamari. I am allergic to seafood so I couldn’t even get the regular fries which was also cooked on the same oil. I was very surprised that such a fine restaurant would do that. I wound up getting pasta instead. The pasta had a Meyer lemon Alfredo sauce, but there was not much sauce on the plate. My server was very nice and did bring me more sauce. Still I was surprised to find that it needed it but the shaved cheese on the pasta was a bit congealed and needed some more moisture . Also I was surprised to find out that the cookie plate on the menu is more like typical kids cookies - oatmeal, chocolate chip and peanut butter rather than fancy European cookies like the pretty Linzer tarts shown on the website with the Valentine’s day menu. Luckily my server advised having the warm chocolate cake instead. So overall, Jean Georges at the Mark is nice but more like an expensive hotel restaurant than a signature dining experience. On the positive side, my server was excellent and arranged a happy anniversary message on the plate for the desert which was very much appreciated.
Also something else to take note: there are no restrooms on the first floor, you must get in an elevator or use stairs so folks with handicaps or disabilities should know and plan accordingly.
exceptional service and experience. The food is really good but it's the whole experience for me.
A very special occasion-this was my third trip to the Mark. I had asked for a quiet corner table and I was given the best corner table in the restaurant. I had noted a birthday-and a cake and candle were spontaneously delivered-and deserts were all comped. The main dining room is hectic and one must run a very crowded gauntlet to get to the restaurant through the bar area-but once there-the service was excellent-the meal was spectacular and as this is in the Hotel-the doorman was most accommodating and helpful to my quests. We ordered The Black Truffle Fettuccini-to be shared to start-and it is to die for-the main courses of Veal Milanese and salmon were very ample and each tasty. Deserts of Perfutroles
Everything was very mediocre
We had a lovely time at bar and then shifted to dining room. Great wine and great Black Sea bass. Salmon also amazing. We had a really special meal.
I picked The Mark Restaurant as to hopefully have a fun brunch with amazing food with my friend who lives in BK and rarely visits the UES. I wanted to show her that the UES can have good food and not be stuffy.
-Very cool, trendy ambiance.
- Attentive, professional and upscale service.
-Crab cake appetizer was excellent.
- Avocado toast was boring and unimpressive. My friend and I both agreed we have had better for half the price.
-$7 coffee. No offer for refill. $7!
-Expensive bill and I left wishing I picked a more casual spot with better food.
We have a very relaxing brunch. The food was delicious
The food was not good and overpriced. I ordered the egg white omelette with herbs, which arrived with no herbs (only a sparse sprinkling of chives on top), a small handful of home fries, and a few sprigs of lettuce from a mesclun mix which was barely seasoned or dressed. Priced at $27. Service was incredibly slow.
I mentioned it was my friend’s birthday and reminded them before our meal was served and they still forgot
To acknowledge her with even a candle in a desert I ordered as a further reminder.
The food was fairly good. The portions were scarce for its price point but most of all the service was horrible. No one checked on us after we received our meals. Our cocktail drinks were empty the entire diner without providing us an opportunity to request another and the checkout process took approximately 10 minutes. If the food wasn’t appetizing I probably would have given this restaurant a 1/5 star.
The most wonderful restaurant, just too expensive. Bring a company credit card and relax and enjoy.
The food was awful, sent three of four courses back and at those prices, they should deliver better. Service was great but won’t go back.
Extremely expensive for poor quality food and ok service . The restaurant is beautiful but that’s about it . I have been to many Jean Georges restaurants and this has been a huge disappointment.
Service was rude. Food was below average. Nothing special
I always order the artichoke and the pasta lemon meyer. The last three times 1) the artichoke was way undercooked and hard and 2) the pasta was before al dente ( very hard) and there was hardly any sauce on it. Please look into this.
The Mark has never failed for any meal as my Upper East Side go to restaurant. Service is friendly and professional, the food is excellent and the restaurant and adjoining hotel and lobby are beautiful and elegant. This week we came after the Empty Met experience at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to make for a fabulous day. The Mark burger, croque M and. sea bass drew unanimous raves from the table! You won't be disappointed!
The place is beautiful and for the beautiful people- but the food was mediocre while being ridiculously expensive . I wouldn’t object to the price if it was worth it
I have been to JG many times and they missed the mark this time. Our sides came out cold. We sent them back and they returned the same temperature. The plate was hot, but not the food. Third time was a charm...hot and tasty.
Bartenders were overly chatty with their co-workers and it was difficult to get their attention. I returned my second cocktail as it was nothing like the first one served.
chalking it up as an off night for them, but at top rate prices they should always be on cue.
A great upper Eastside lunch spot filled with warmth , great food selections and friendly service in a lovey setting!
In the Ladies room- please install a full length mirror
and proper hooks for a winter coat and a shoulder bag
Fantastic - everyone should be required to go for the coconut soup. It is a delight.
I took a friend for her birthday and she loved it. The atmosphere was great and the food delicious. I had the Veal Milanese and it was like no other I have ever experienced. The waiters were friendly and made you feel very comfortable. They even gave us homemade cookies with a candle for her birthday. I would and will definitely return with other friends.
The bar crowd also looked very interesting.
This is definitely a 5* restaurant!!
The food was excellent but service fell short. The people working at the front barely acknowledged us and didn’t offer to take our coats. We awkwardly brought them to our table which had little room and had to ask the waiter ourselves if he could check them for us. The waiter was only attentive to us after we ordered an above average priced bottle of wine. Clearly this place hosts the rich and famous and being regular people it was obvious that there was a difference in service.
Our experience was good, but frankly we expected it to be much more than good. Service was fine, atmosphere very pleasant, but the food was somewhat of a letdown. My serving was lukewarm at best and my husband's was surprisingly bland. I guess we just expected better from J-GV.
Best tuna burger anywhere. Very comfortable space -
This was an off night for The Mark. Service was slow and the food was lack luster. Started off with several items on the menu being unavailable. We had a 7pm table so certainly not due to selling out. The bread was stale, the appetizers were delayed and once they arrived, not fresh tasting at all. The octopus was so tough you could barely get a knife through it. We had to beg for the entree and then the chicken was dry the lamb chops in a pool of oily tough broccoli rabe. It was disappointing and felt like the restaurant was about to close but did not want to tell you.
Hope they can pull it back together as I usually love this place.
Sebastián the manager was so courteous and nice. He was our favorite manager in a restaurant in TriBeCa and finding him at Mark immediately made us feel good.
We usually come here for Nee Years brunch but this was the first time service was very slow. Disappointing.
The food was delicious, the service excellent--all my food sensitivities were taken into account--the atmosphere was relaxing and elegant.
The service was terrible. They actually brought our desserts before we had been served our entrees. We arrived at 7:30 and they were already out of one of the 5 entrees. We had to ask for the amuse bouche twice. It finally arrived after more than an hour. The first course arrived cold. The lamb was tough. At $175 per person prix fix it was ridiculous. We will never eat at a Jean Georges restaurant again. They ruined Christmas dinner!
Very mediocre and overly expensive food, very disappointing! We expected so much more but food took a long time and tasted just as a ready made food from grocery store to f not worse.
The Christmas limited menu was not great. The service was slow. The food Luke warm. Descriptions of the dishes were not accurate. Overall not a great experience. The restaurant reduced the price, but it did not make up for a mediocre Christmas dinner.
Jean - Georges should be embarrassed to associate his name with the restaurant.
All facets of this establishment were below average.
We even had a dog at the table next to us.
This place is so vulgar, dirty and unsophisticated. Great waste of money and time.
