We almost went to The Mark for brunch a while back but decided to save it for a special occasion. We went last night for New Year’s Eve. The restaurant was much smaller than I expected. We immediately noticed that the lighting was VERY bright. There also wasn’t any music playing though there were visible speakers overhead. The lack of music and hard surfaces made all the noises of the bar and other tables very noticeable. It gave us the feeling of being in a library or museum and made us feel like we had to be quiet. We had Ethan as our server. He was also tending the bar so he was always busy, but he was great. The hostess tried to help him by taking our order. I read what I wanted directly from the holiday menu, the bone in 14 oz filet. It was to be accompanied by two paired sides. The hostess asked what I wanted with it and I responded with, “just want it comes with…” and read the side item. I still ended up being served the regular menu filet. Ethan explained that the hostess instructions only said filet. I settled for that and it was very good. We were offered a free dessert for the slow service, as food did take quite a while, and the mix up. We got the Crème Brûlée which was very runny. The custard dripped from the spoon every bite. Overall, the food was very good other than the brûlée. Cocktails were amazing. Atmosphere was odd. Im not sure if it is always like that. We live very close so we will probably give it another chance. The experience just felt like they were scrambling and weren’t at their best.

great wine selections offered and the martini was the best.
The menu offered great choices and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
Almost too sterile, so the ambiance could be improved. Maybe a little music.

Food was excellent!! Service was a tad slow and could be because of the Omicron surge.

Food was bland and didn’t have much taste. Service was good except they didn’t keep our water refilled.

We ate at The Mark on Monday and Tuesday evening. On Monday evening the food was not edible. The usual chef was not there and the food was quite frankly, terrible. On Tuesday when the usual chef returned, we enjoyed our meal as we have in the past.

Our orders were delicious with great presentation. Entree menu limited and pricey (and they were out of two of the 7 entrees). Would recommend for special occasion….

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my daughter who is a senior at Elon. Drinks were wonderful and the food was stellar. We shared the calamari appetizer and really enjoyed the jalapeño drizzle. My scallops were perfectly cooked and super flavorful. My daughter’s chicken was tender and juicy. We split a slice of triple chocolate cake which was decadent. Terrific experience!

I debated whether to write a review or not. Part of me wants to keep The Mark at Elon a secret so that it doesn't become too popular and overcrowded. The food is so good and the service is exceptional. This restaurant could compete with any upper scale restaurant in the surrounding area. I don't believe that a person could get large sea scallops cooked to perfection, served on beds of arugula with orzo and sundried tomatoes for less than it cost at The Mark. The wine was perfect with the meal as was the caprese salad. My husband is a chocoholic and loved the chocolate layer cake. The service was wonderful and our server was always very timely, not pushy, and extremely friendly. We will definitely go back again!

My first experience was not a good one. It started well and took a turn for the worse. The appetizer was OK, very under seasoned. After the appetizer we were basically attacked by flies. During the entire meal we were waving our napkin over our food to keep the flies away. A couple of flies ended up in my water. My husband's entree came out to his liking. Mine on the other hand not so much. I ordered the salmon. It was supposed to come with quinoa, edamame and a puree. My plate came with a piece of salmon on top of a thick tasteless puree and a few stalks of asparagus for $26. Our server wasn't very interactive. Janice did notice us fanning flies and offered an explanation but nothing more. Our bill was $127, definitely not worth it.

In short… the food is good. Not enough ( need to add a side to the entrees ) for the cost of it you should get 2 sides. Service ok. 54.00 for a ribeye. Ridiculous. 26 for a small piece of chicken and a spoon of quinoa. Halibut was maybe 4 bites and 3 pieces of asparagus. Mixed drinks were good. Overall. Probably not going back. Go out of town for fine dinning, you get more and it’s more reasonably priced. Spent over 500 for 6 people.

Outdoor dining was great! Relaxing and quiet. Food was good, although for the price, the portion size of the entree could have been larger. Finally, the menu has not changed since we came a few months ago. Would love to see some new items.
