Paul and Julia did an amazing job. We had cocktails by the fire before dinner and had the opportunity to learn a lot about the owners and the history of the Inn. The food and wine pairings were amazing. The quality, passion, and attention to detail the owners bring make for a fun and educational dining experience.
Exquisite gem in the mountains of Vermont. Creative, inspired cuisine by a charming husband and wife team in a stylish and chic setting. It feels as though you are a guest in their home. It is a set menu so you must be adventurous but so much fun to sit down and see where the chef’s creative juices take you. A definite must for any foodie visiting the area.
Clearly the finest dining opportunity in Southern VT. Very creative courses, well paired wines, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere. To me, it is on par with Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
This is the most unique dinning experience in the Southern VT area. The menu is set daily and there are 5 - petite courses. All the decisions are made for you! The unique blends of spices and herbs offers a tasty dish...Our server was the owner of the Inn and his wife is the chef. They make a great team and have indepth knowledge on food preparation and wines. The dinning area seats approximately 25 people... The Inn has a minimalist feel to it and at the same time is just as cozy as can be. If I didnt live in Dorset, I would go to the Marble West Inn for a getaway. Dont't miss the experience!
Creative farm to table fare with distinctive taste. Recommend the wine pairing with Pre-fix.
Outstanding! Exquisite! Please note you do not choose any of the food, it's all prix fixe. Let Chef work her magic with the freshest, largely local ingredients. Chill in one of the parlors with a drink before embarking on your culinary adventure. Fascinating flavor juxtapositions, everything delicious, cooked to perfection.
This place is an absolute treat. We celebrated a special occasion here and had an evening to remember. Delicious food from local ingredients, prepared and served with love by the friendly proprietors. Beautiful ambiance and stylish decor. We sat out by a fire with a cocktail and watched a stunning sunset before dinner. Highly recommended.
Our second time at Marble West Inn for dinner. Paul, one of the innkeepers, is super friendly and accommodating, also super knowledgeable about food and wine. Much of the vegetables and herbs come from their garden. The setting is gorgeous. The innkeepers have put tremendous energy and thought into revamping the 1800's building. It's perfect for having a well-prepared dinner and then heading off to the Dorset playhouse.
Sublime. From the moment of arrival to the final goodbye---and yes, that is how personal the experience is---I knew this was going to be special. You see the garden outside the inn and you know it is a "chef's garden" that will form the basis of your meal. If you are not able to put complete trust in your host, then this is not the place for you---since there really is no "ordering" off a menu. It is all determined by what is fresh and peak and available (either directly or sourced from special purveyors). The courses simply appear and the meal unfolds---the only real decision that needs to be made is whether to do a wine pairing or indulge in one of the specialty cocktails. The dining room---if even to be called that, since it seemed much more intimate---is very small, seating 16 at full capacity. All white with beautiful large framed photographs for a splash of color. The passion of the kitchen---that being the husband/wife duo heading this effort---shines through in every course. We only talked to Paul since he was doing "front of house" duties---we are just going to assume that his wife is equally as charming! The meal was our final night of a week-long Vermont vacation, and glad to be able to say this ended on such a high note! Thank you for an overall wonderful experience.
A neighborhood gem, to which I will return again and again. Food is masterfully prepared and diligently considered. Wine is the same. It is a treat for those who love a tasting menu.
Our evening at the Marble West Inn was magical. The inn itself is charming, just like the owners, and our meal, from cocktails to appetizers to entrees to desserts, was incredible. If we can be in Dorset again, we'll be sure to return to the Marble West Inn.
We had the pleasure of having a private tasting. It was one of the best meals we ever had. Food was all locally sourced and paired perfectly with the wine selection. We will definitely be back.
My husband and I had an excellent dinner at the Marble West Inn. The tasting menu with wine pairing was inventive and fresh. The owner was very friendly and attentive and answered all of our questions about the menu. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area!
One of the best meals we’ve had in New England. Paul, the owner, made us feel at home and comfortable but was also very knowledgeable and passionate about the meal he served us. The food and wine pairings were exquisite. Can’t wait to go back and also stay at the intimate and beautiful inn.
What an amazing restaurant and owners. we were welcomed into the intimate restaurant setting the moment we walked through the door. The owners took great care with every aspect of the meal and everything was delicious. We'd highly recommend it and it is without a doubt one of the top dining destinations in Southern Vermont.
The six course tasting menu we were served showcased the locally sourced ingredients in a very creative way. Paul was a gracious host and really knows where his food comes from. Each dish was presented at the table with a short story about the ingredients. The food and wine pairing were not only amazing but also a great value! Had a delightful evening dining and learning about the food from the local area.
Amazing fine dining in Dorset!! Paul and Julia sure know how to care for their diners—seems like a labor of love! Five course tasting menu of the highest quality ingredients—almost all farm-to-table, even in the dead of winter! Each course thrilled with incredible layers of flavors and artistry. A must-try for an out of the ordinary experience!
My wife had been following the Marble West Inn on Instagram and remarking on the wonderful pictures they had been posting of their Inn and restaurant. So, of course I had to surprise her with a dinner reservation. What a great setting in Dorset, and made even more spectacular with twinkling Christmas lights and snow covered fields and mountains.
We met Paul, proud owner of the Marble West Inn (along with his wife Julia, who we hope to meet next time), who greeted us warmly and explained a little about the house and the evening's dinner. The dining room is intimate with soft lighting but bright enough to see the food being presented. The Inn serves a Chef's tasting menu, with a surprise course or two here and there. Local ingredients are the star, and in some cases, you didn't get more local than their own garden! Each dish had a little story - where the food is from, why each component complemented the other, and how and why the wine was chosen. On the night we dined, we enjoyed six courses (4 printed menu items with 2 surprises). The menu included goat cheese and wild mushroom terrine, golden beet and frisee salad with blue cheese, parsnip soup, Sous-vide prepared Pheasant, beef short rib, and a mascarpone cheese cake...it's sophisticated food but had that Vermont comfort to it. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening, meeting Paul (and his daughter who helped serve), and will be back.
Wonderful food. Gracious hosts.innovative menu with locally sourced ingredients. Inn itself The inn is very welcoming and cozy with fires in the sitting rooms. Nice wine list. Can’t wait to go back.
Local Vermont-raised food prepared skillfully, letting the ingredients be the star. The Wagyu beef sirloin with chard was delicious and showed how a dish with few components can let the flavor of the ingredients blend and contrast. The wines were carefully chosen to complement each course and were interesting choices that weren't the same old Cabs and chardonnays. The setting is intimate, the service was impeccable. Paul explained each dish, described the reasoning behind the wine choice and then disappeared until he was needed again. There were extra food surprises and additional tastes of wine beyond the printed menu.
The value is terrific. Paul and Julia have a vision for the restaurant and the Inn that encompasses much more than the site. They are working with local farmers to develop crops that can provide a source of food for the restaurant and a cash stream for the farmer.
We had a stellar meal and will definitely be back (if we can get a reservation, it is a small space). I wish we lived closer. They will be open year-round, and I can imagine coming in from a cold winter day to spend time enjoying the food and atmosphere of this wonderful place.
Cozy, special find in Dorset. Very personalized attention, wonderfully made food.
Marble West Inn is truly a destination for foodies. Everything's locally sourced: from the baby beets, carrots, and onions, to the turkey (from a 32 lb bird, you wouldn't believe how tender) and the Jersey beef (no, not the Garden State, Jersey as in grass fed dairy cattle), again, you would not believe the flavor. Dinner for no more than 16, Friday and Saturday evenings. Prix fixe menu (4 courses, or so) plus an optional flight of wine.
