The Manship Ratings and Reviews
We’re just visiting Jackson and wanted to experience the local dining. This place is great!!! Loved the location and atmosphere! Awesome menu, great pizza, and extensive wine list! Service was wonderful too! We will definitely come back next time we visit Jackson.
We'd been wanting to try The Manship for quite some time and decided to go there as a special treat for New Years Eve. The service was good but the food was just average and the bill was exorbitant. There were four of us, one had a beer and one a glass of wine and we shared two desserts with our meals. The bill with the tip was almost $200! The ham and bean soup wasn't great, the fish was "fishy" tasting and the bread pudding was dry. I'm not a very picky eater (as long as someone else cooks it, I usually don't complain!) We were disappointed.
UNSAFE FOOD PRACTICES!!! Watched workers go from preparing take-out orders to removing dirty dishes,to supplying fellow guests with additional silverware to taking those same bare hands and provide garnish to entrees being served to other guests...ALL WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS!!! YUK!!! How GROSS!!! When I brought this to the attention of management, I was told this is common in a “fine-dining establishment!”
NEWSFLASH... Your restaurant is average at best! I’ll also certainly pass along your NASTY food handling practices to the State’s Health Inspector and see if they share your thoughts!!! BEWARE PEOPLE & READ REVIEWS WHERE OTHERS HAVE GOTTEN SICK AFTER DINING AT THE MANSHIP!!!
Our server and management checked on us several times throughout the meal, but when it was time to get the check it took a while. We were finally able to flag down our server and then it took almost ten minutes to get our check. Other than that, it was a good experience
Our family visited The Manship to wrap-up our celebration of my 10 year old daughter’s birthday. We had a larger sized party, and overall our experience was awful. Our waitress was inattentive, the food was not very good, and management displayed a nasty demeanor. I will not frequent this restaurant in the future.
We really enjoy Manship. The food is all hand-crafted and much is locally sourced. You'll have to go a long way to find a better beer selection and the spirits are extensive too. The chef has won an award for his fish and he deserves it. I recommend Manship without hesitation.
I have always enjoyed the Manship. I like the menu variety and the wonderful veggie selection. They have a great wine list, but more options are on the expensive side. I enjoy roast duck, so had the roasted leg. It was not as great as I was hoping for, but it did not dampen my overall experience. We usually get several sides and try each others. The "reds" shrimp appetizer was not good. The order shrimp seemed to have been frozen based on the mushy texture.
The restaurant was mostly vacant on this ballgame weekend - so we had great attention from the waitstaff. We'll go back!
The Manship is a prime eating venue in the Jackson area. It has perfectly merged great food with a cool ambiance. It’s the perfect spot for a date, anniversary, business meeting and lunch with friends. The outdoor eating space is cozy and intimate. Of course, there’s the food. I like it’s use of local ingredients. The same goes for the bar. I absolutely love the drinks made with the honeysuckle vodka.
This was at least the fifth time we’ve been to this place. We’ve been for both happy hour and dinner (brunch has been highly recommended as well, though we have not made it in yet). The staff is always pleasant, timely, and accommodating. They are also fun to interact with, including the manager Brian, who is always floating around checking on customers. Ambiance keeps us coming back for every occasion!
Food and drinks: from appetizers to dessert, phenomenal. You can find a dish to fit whatever financial budget you may have from half off incredible pizzas at happy hour to an amazing dinner entree.
This was our first time to try The Manship, but it will not be our last! We were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary. The server was very attentive and saw to all of our needs and was very informative during the ordering process. The food was excellent! Thanks for a memorable evening!!!
I am a vegetarian, so my option were limited to the vegetables, which was somewhat expected. The tabbouleh had a lovely flavor, bright, clean and true. However, it was covered in oil. The olive oil was pooling in the serving dish. It looked very unappetizing and it was completely unnecessary. The gobs of oil only took away from the dish. The brussel sprouts typically come with pancetta, which I 86'd. The flavor was good, but the brussels were very hard. I love firm vegetables, but these were too firm. Some sprouts had nice color and char and others were pale and dull.
We ordered the crab beignets they could have more crab meat but tasty. The pork belly was a little to sweet (seem to taste like to much brown sugar or sweetner liquid ). Need to cut down on sweetness.. We also ordered pepperoni and farmers pizza . Overall satisfied . Server was kind and polite and other staff checked in and asked how we enjoyed our meal.
