We wanted to support this local business, but unfortunately we won’t be back. The shrimp toast and crabcake were ok. I ordered the New York strip and the Brussels ruined the entire dish. They were so sweet and made everything on the plate taste like birthday cake. So disappointed!
Went to Manor for our anniversary party on a Thursday night. Arrived early and got a drink at the bar. (Try the Moira’s Rose—Delicious!). Then went to our table and had an amazing dinner (octopus and fried oysters apps) and it was Steak night! We ordered the blue cheese flat iron (delicious and very blue cheesy) and rib eye (huge with lots of butter). SO GOOD! Both had mashed potatoes (I’d go back to just order a bowl of them and on a snowy day). We split the chocolate orange caramel bread pudding (more than enough for two). Our server was attentive and fun and we never had more than a couple minute’s wait for anything. We were invited to the bar upstairs and treated to shots by the wonderful entertainment. The space is gorgeous and back on its feet post-COVID. We’ll be back soon!!!
Group of 2 say next to a super loud noisy group of diners. Even when there was an entire other dining room that ppl were being sat at. The usual beautiful front window was closed off with cheap dollar store decorations. Poor acoustics and the group was drunkkkkk. Steak night so I ordered the flank steak/flatiron - fries were cold and old. Took 10 mins to get more fries. For being this pricey I hoped for a better experience.
The food was the worst part of the evening. My wild mushroom ravioli was bland and there was way too much oil just sitting on the plate, also unflavored. The duck and fig flatbread tasted like toast with jelly. You couldn't taste the duck, onion, or cheese, just the fig which was overpoweringly sweet. All the other dishes were just ok (butchers hill flatbread, shrimp and mozzarella, mussels, truffle fries, and branzino). A lot of food went uneaten and no one took anything to go. I was disappointed with the food, but the server was great. Ambiance is amazing, but still would not come back because of the food.
Pros: This building has been well maintained and continues to be one of the prettiest architectural spaces in Baltimore. The hosts were very accommodating with respect to seat selection. The wait staff was friendly and, when asked, our server and someone from the kitchen brought out additional items to go with our appetizers (veggies for the hummus trio, which was tasty.). The octopus, while definitely small, was packed with flavor. My companions enjoyed the truffle fries and burratta, as well as their salad and burgers. The bartender did a great job with drinks.
Cons: The service was not coordinated well. We were brought bread, but no bread plates. When the appetizers came out, the servers seemed a little flummoxed as how to fit the plates (which are pretty, but oversized) onto the table. While still in the thick of apps, two of the four meals came out. Since nothing was cleared, there was no place to put them. The expediter seemed completely flummoxed. We took putty on him by helping to stack plates. One of the diners was clearly not done, however, but the server started to take her plate. Again, we had to help him out, stacking and holding plates for him, on several occasions.
It was not the end of the world. I used to wait tables, so I can appreciate maybe he’s new and learning the ropes. It would not stop me from going back, but it did make me feel less like I was dining out and more like I was in my own kitchen.
The food quality was suboptimal but the servers were phenomenal. Everything we ordered on the menu (Duck/Fig pizza, Gnocchi, Tuna platter, Steak (on steak night) came out not so good. The tuna platter was particularly unappetizing. We got Tuscano red, which was good.
the coolest building in baltimore for sure. food was good , drinks werr good ,we went for my wifes birthday and she loved it.
Wonderful atmosphere, food, and service! Glad it's back!
Avoid the duck, the bar was missing alcohol so they couldn't even make half there own cocktails. Smh, service was decent. I'd go back when the bar was stocked but only for alcohol and appetizers.
You’ve gotta experience it. Seriously. Stay after dinner and explore the ‘floors’.
Most amazing night. Everything was perfect. The food, the drinks and service were the best. The entire staff from the hostess to the bartenders were all outstanding. We will be back.
Beautiful space and great service!
Service was poor due to being severely understaffed for a Friday night. We waited about 45 minutes for a round of drinks that fortunately got comped not only because they were late but because they were also poorly made. Food was subpar however the staff was courteous and absolutely charming. We still had a good time my friends and I and we plan to come back on a night that isn’t so busy.
Beautiful old Baltimore mansion, friendly service, delicious food, good cocktails, fun crowd
I absolutely loved dining at The Manor. My wife, my friends and I recently attended the Sunday Drag Brunch there and everything was perfect. The ambience, the decor, the service, food and performances. Going back to The Manor is now a non-negotiable for my marriage.
Staff is extremely inexperienced.
Beautiful space, great service, excellent meal.
The chef does a great job preparing every dish. It may take time to perfect what you will be served, however, it is well worth the wait.
The staff is also attentive! The general manager knows what he is doing! Kudos to everyone! Amazing team work.
We had a table for 7 reserved for the Sunday Drag Brunch! The bottomless mimosas were excellent and definitely bottomless. The food was beyond our expectations and I am a foodie that has had the best from Michelin Star chefs in St. Bart’s. The service was excellent and I would recommend Guy for every occasion. He is attentive and makes the best recommendations. Nothing was missed. Great new place for everyone to try on North Charles. Beautiful building and great staff! We will return for dinner!
Food was wonderful! Servers were still getting the hang of things I think. Atmosphere was great! Highly recommend trying this place.
This was our second visit to The Manor in as many weeks. Excellent food, beautiful atmosphere, nice unobtrusive music. The first visit, we relaxed after dinner in the upstairs lounge and chatted and met new friends. Perfect. On second visit, there was a deejay up there and music was too loud to carry on conversation. Not sure why they hired the deejay, they don't have a dance floor and do not need a dance floor.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely: Beautiful setting; fair prices; Food and drinks were great. We had a lot of fun. Everyone should go here and enjoy & experience the ambiance a wonderful new bar/restaurant! Excellent!!
Great atmosphere food and service! Great addition to Baltimore scene!
So the hostess had a rough night, but they just opened. She wasn't slacking off but was certainly overwhelmed. Management should have given her pagers to identify the next party in line. Blame should go to management. Food was great, and the staff was fun to interact with. Don't judge them off of there first weekend, especially considering it was Valentine's Day. Only issue was with getting people seated in the correct order. I believe they will right the ship. Obviously the folks who got lost in the shuffle are more likely to leave a review. Keep that in mind when reading through the feedback from Valentine's Day weekend! Food was great, they deserve a second chance.
Lord- we sat for 29 mins after ordering just our drinks only to be told that the bartender didn’t have the ingredients for their own suggested cocktails... so my husband ordered a citron and tonic- 15 mins later he got a regular vodka with club soda- in a cracked glass. Sent that back with promises to get it right. Yes tonic on the third try- but just plain vodka not citron....
Then about twenty minutes after we ordered dinner- they told my poor husband they were out of what he ordered! it was seven in the evening and they were out of many entree items on their menu- not a special menu, their everyday menu... He finally found something they had. Wow.
When our server noticed we were waiting for so long, she kindly offered us bread- that she never brought....! After we ate- we skipped dessert. We just wanted to leave.
Who is ordering the supplies for this place? Out of stuff for drinks, food, and it was early on in the evening...omg... what a mess !
It’s a pretty place, but folks, it always has been pretty- even way back when it was the brass elephant... They need a sensible manager to run this place- we won’t be back- we’ll wait for this locale’s next incarnation.....what an ordeal!
Granted it was Valentine's Day, and the place was packed, but some dishes were odd and we were overcharged for what we received. An appetizer consisted of five leaves of endive with some fruit on top. A beet salad with chicken ($$ extra) appeared as a few slices of beets and slices of what looked like boiled chicken. A brand-name champagne was substituted with Korbel (not even on the menu), and one of the sides never arrived. Yet, these mix-ups were not reflected in the bill, which was quite large. It's a lovely place that deserves to do well. But if The Manor plans on marketing itself as a restaurant (not just an "ultra-lounge") the food and service need an upgrade. Another thing -- the dining room is the nicest part of building. The lounge spaces feel somewhat leftover and under-furnished -- not loungey at all. I hope for a better experience next time.
Bad, sadly it was Valentine’s Day. We sat at 5:30 and didn’t leave until after 8:30p. This was because we didn’t get our meals until 90 mins after sitting, only to be given 25% of what we ordered. Once we made our waiter aware of me getting the wrong order and my wife missing things from hers, that’s where the wait got longer(additional 1 hr). What’s crazy is that we were one of the first people to get their meals. Some groups were waiting for 2hrs. Unfortunately we won’t go back, coming from nyc I thought this would be a happy medium; good decor, ambitious menu... but it fell short of the mark. Our waiter, when we saw him, was great and very kind. But I think he knew the whole restaurant was upset and overwhelmed.
The Manor was a lovely experience! Ambiance is just right -- full of drama and romance without feeling like they're trying too hard. Honestly, the food was the same! Delicious and full of complex flavors, without leaning too far into the more experimental / "foodie"-friendly dishes. The service was great. Our server misheard an appetizer order that I wasn't clear enough about, and when they brought the incorrect dish to the table we felt terrible, but the runner and server were so sweet and accommodating about the tiny mistake. Our only [inconsequential] issue was how long it took to receive our food (about 45 mins). But the timeframe was still not unreasonable, and is to be expected from a new establishment still perfecting their menu items. All in all, I was very impressed!
My husband and I went to dinner on the opening weekend of the Manor and had a wonderful time! The ambiance is so chic and beautiful, and we really enjoyed the antique chandeliers and style! We had the mussles to start (delicious broth) and the duck and the pork shank as entrees. Both were delicious, but the real standout was the pork shank! Melted off the bone! We also checked out the upstairs ultra lounge, which was really cool and had multiple rooms to hang out. I highly recommend The Manor for a romantic dinner, a dinner with family or friends, and nightlife! We will be back soon for drag brunch!!! Can't wait!
