The Manor Casual Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Service was terrible.
We sat in a room with three tables, each table had only two people and had a seperate server for each table which we thought was great.
The table beside us arrived 15-20 min after us and were served and finished eating before we givin our starter salads.
The waiting and delays only got worse from there on. The waiter eventually stopped coming to our table, our dishes were not removed nor were offered dessert.
The waiter was preoccupied with the upstairs tables and also seemed to be under the influence of something.
Extremely disappointed that other servers didn’t step up to fill an obvious void in service.
We will never be back and will also let our friends know about our experience.
Being hearing-impaired, I prefer a very quiet environment for conversation. I asked for a quiet area and we were invited to into the small dining room where we were the only guests. It was perfect. The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive, but not overly so.
My partner and I were celebrating our 5th anniversary and decided to try somewhere new. The food was excellent. The service was very good. Once I advised the server about my food allergies, she was e very attentive and asked the proper questions. We will definitely be back.
I have been here for brunch multiple times and it is always fantastic. The restaurant is very bright and cozy. The place to eat brunch on a rainy or chilly morning. The eggs Benedict is amazing and clearly made with care for the ingredients. The seafood crepe is fantastic as well and they certainly aren't skimpy on the seafood filling. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity.
We loved our first visit to this restaurant. The food was great, the waiter was great too. Two things that could be improved on. We weren’t greeted upon arrival and the staff looked frazzled and annoyed when we stopped them to say we were there. Many passed us without saying anything. Turned out a big party had arrived that had members who couldn’t go upstairs so the restaurant seating had to be reorganized. That’s fine, but some communication would have been good. We felt ignored initially. Also, my daughter had a birthday, which I mentioned on the reservation. When we arrived there was 2 big blackboards with Happy Birthday Gary! on them. Guess he was the birthday boy of the big party. My daughter’s birthday was not acknowledged. The waiter did add her name to Gary’s sign upstairs. Don’t know if Gary got a happy birthday slice of cake but my daughter didn’t. They also forgot about a dairy allergy and fries arrived with cheese on them. It may have been a crazy night for them with the big party but the kitchen really shouldn’t mess up an allergy like that. Having said all that, the food was good. We all had a good time too. The desserts were fantastic - although none were dairy free for my birthday girl. Even some fruit would have been appreciated.
Our brunch here was fantastic.
Everyone loved their choice.
I had the Traditional Benedict which was superb. The hollandaise was probably the best I've ever had, eggs done perfectly and the English muffin was toasted and crispy.
My dad had the French Toast which he ate the entire plate without barely saying 2 words throughout the meal. He said it was excellent. It looked delicious and I'm having that next time I go.
Only thing was it was quite cool on the patio for outdoor dining in the morning so next time we will sit inside.
Great service too.
Steak special was tasty and well presented. Warm spinach was the best part of the meal. The beef bourginon was tasty but came with fries, unusual. When busy, they seem to place twosomes in a small, dark room with little appeal. Patio is the better seating if weather permits.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. It took a full hour before we were served our Entree and the restaurant was not overly busy. The waitress never made an apology or offered an explanation for the long wait. I asked if they offered a free dessert for the birthday girl and was told they didn't offer anything like that. The menu is very limited and a 5oz glass of wine is very pricey. I don't think we will be going back there anytime soon.
We went to the Manor for lunch on the deck. It was an excellent choice.
We shared the Pear/Pecan Salad & the Burger with a glass of wine.
The food was fresh,& tasty. The burger & chips as good as it gets.
Our server, Galloway , was also excellent; friendly , knowledgeable & attentive.
We will be back.
Best patio in town for a summer lunch with friends. We went for the pear walnut salad, which didn't disappoint. The menu is fairly priced, but I think wine by the glass is a bit high ($12) which is why I only gave 4 stars for value. But perhaps I'm living in a bubble. Great service. Our server (Julie?) has been there for years and always makes us feel welcome - like old friends.
We came for the outdoor patio. Great as ever but on a sunny warm evening there were only 8 people in the bistro. Why? The food is not as good as it once was and business has dropped off. We moved inside because of a thunder storm and were inundated with fruit flies. Food: Better steak tartare at the Accent and Bistro Praha. Nasi Gorung nothing to write home about. Will not go back as there are so many other great spots to eat these days. I will miss the patio.
Have dined at the Manor Bistro 3 times in the last year. Each time we have been quite satisfied with our dining experience. This recent dinner party was a group of 3 girlfriends and we wanted a good restaurant in which we could talk easily. Many restaurants I find excessively noisy and not conducive to conversation but the Manor is perfect for friends' get-togethers.
We shared an assortment of appetizers: Mushrooms on Toast, Prawns and Olives, 2 of us ordered the special salmon salad the other the spinach salad as our main course. Both were large enough for a full meal. We included an excellent bottle of Dog Point, Marlborough, NZ Sauvignon Blanc. We finished with desserts of Creme Caramel and another creamy delicacy. It was perfect and our waitress was very friendly and attentive.
Had relatives from Singapore who are used to/spoiled with a great variety of very good food, plus excellent service where they live. They were most pleased with the setting of The Manor & were satisfied with the food. They found the music to be a little loud, as did we, plus the service minimal, although adequate (e.g. they requested a spoon for a sauce, but it was never provided - we didn't make a fuss about it).
Good overall. Nice wine!
They were unable to satisfactorily cook the Swordfish special. (Under cooked on first try; over cooked after a very long delay; person at next table also sent it back as under cooked.)
Unfortunately, no consideration for the failed entre - ie: charged us for desert and did not waive the charge for the entre.)
Would probably still go back.
My friend and I met for lunch and each had the salad that was the special that day. It was very good -- lots to eat but very tasty. We sat on patio under an umbrella until the earth moved and the sun was too hot for us. We were moved to a shadier table and our water glasses were filled without our requesting. It was a pleasant lunch and I would recommend The Manor for a nice place for a a great meal and ambiance.
Seemed a little ignored by the waitress. Not that we didn't get our food in a timely manner or that it wasn't delicious but we had a spread from the banana bread that was thrown out instead of being included in the take out as well as having to ask for every refill of coffee and water and never actually getting cream for the coffee more than once.
Seemed to be a very nice restaurant with good food and the price was very reasonable for the portion size. The rest of the staff seemed very nice but our waitress seemed to not care about us. Even when it came time to pay the bill, we tried repeatedly to get her attention to have a debit machine brought to the table and watched her bring it to three other tables and leaving each time before we could flag her down to pay.
If I were writing this review based soley on my food choice, I would say excellent. The Nasi Goreng is the reason I return to the Manor Café. But I was the only one who ordered it, and everyone else was not as impressed. For the table of 6, three had specials, and two had a regular main other than mine. They were described as average at best. We planned on staying a while, and ordered two bottles of wine (after having a very tiny cocktail for approx. $12). The wine was fantastic, and when we went to order two more of the same bottles, they were out of one of them... as well as several other's on the wine menu. We felt that was a bit odd considering it was a Friday evening. We ended up paying our bill and walking to another place to visit and have a few more drinks.
My husband and I had Sunday brunch here. He had the 'heartstop' and I had the French toast with poached pear and brie, maple syrup, strawberries and candied pecans. It was sweet as expected. My husband really enjoyed his dish as well. Our food was fresh and very tasty. The serving size was just right. The service was good and prices were reasonable though there was some confusion amongst the servers, but all who dealt with us were polite. We sat on the patio, the weather was great, noise level was low and the leafy environment and plentiful flower baskets all amounted to a very enjoyable and relaxing ambience and Sunday brunch outing. I would definitely go again.
Service was excellent - attentive without being intrusive. We each enjoyed our good choices - salads were fresh and dressing was just enough; chicken and shrimp were both tender, tasty and done to moist perfection.
Good selection of beers and wine. Will definitely be back.
