If I could give 4.5 stars I would, but it’s a solid 4 almost 5 from us. The location is one of our favourites, the staff are super friendly and even after a busy Father’s Day service we’re still very attentive. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The only thing I knocked a star off for was for being not asked if we wanted pudding. We didn’t need one, we contemplated a cheese board and had we been asked we would have gone for it; however, we weren’t asked and the moment passed so we got the bill. The menu is unique and interesting, even the puddings. Well done Maltsters - super service and food. We will be back and I’m sure it’ll be 5 stars next time!

This was our second visit in the last couple of months. Such a fantastic meal from an incredible diverse and interesting menu. All very unusual, presented beautifully. Service was great.

Our experience was appalling and ruined our romantic weekend - just please avoid - if you want a dirty old pub that looks the same as 30years ago with over priced food from a chef living of the back of Masterchef having failed twice locally and soon to fail again …

Made us very welcome for my husband’s birthday and even gave him a free drink! Roast lamb was absolutely out of this world! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and we will be returning

Lovely setting. Service was fairly quick. Had a roast beef lunch. The meat was plentiful and cooked nicely. Could have done with more gravy and some of the veg were only luke warm. Additional veg were served in a separate bowl, but presentation was a let down. Had to ask for a spoon to serve these veg, which took a while to come. The cauliflower cheese was tasty, but was chopped into small pieces. Prefer chunky florets myself. Overall we were disappointed with our Sunday lunch. Was looking forward to it after reading about the new owners and having an ex Master Chef as chef. Please take this as constructive criticism, and not having a moan.

Food was delicious and well presented although expensive, especially the starters. Felt the curried monkfish needed a vegetable with it, but came with one spinach leaf and was quite rich.
