The newly renovated 85-seat dining room features a comfortable and sophisticated setting of intimate booths, individual tables facing a high back banquette, and inviting contemporary club chairs in the single dining room. Extensive updates were made to the finishes, fixtures, and furnishings, and the newly hand-waxed walls are covered in salon-style collections of art, objects, and interesting images for a dynamic setting.
I had a good birthday brunch. My server was very nice and the Lavendar mimosa was delicious!
Food was excellent! Friendly environment - we were greeted nicely and seated promptly. Our waiter, Josh, was personable and attentive. Manager was checking in on diners to make sure all was well. We were very impressed and will be back!
Great dinner with friends. We all had the spaghetti and it was delicious! The service was excellent too. Thank you!
First, let me say the service was incredible, our waiter was super attentive and friendly even on a busy night! The noise level is very loud (it was a Saturday night), but be prepared on a busy night for it to be hard to talk and if you prefer a quieter vibe this isn’t the place. The food was mediocre and over priced. Calamari was nothing to write home about, the steak was supposed to be a waygu strip it was fatty and gristly and the mussels were not special. The beet salad and coconut cake were the best things we had. Disappointing food experience! I will say the restaurant did take care of the lackluster steak and also added a free dessert and glass of wine.
We booked a last minute lunch at The Majestic for our 36th wedding anniversary. They gave a comfy booth and we had a leisurely, delicious lunch. Staff was lovely! Thank for a great first visit. We will be back!
Great service, cocktails were interesting. I wish you had a few more options on the menu for entrees as well as salads. It was a fun evening with my sister.
A lot of wonderful choices. Wait staff was very sociable and knowledgeable. I selected the Sunday night special, southern fried chicken, as did many other patrons. It was a three course meal at a reasonable price. The only down side was service was a little slow with some forgotten items , eg. no spoon for soup, no salt and pepper. The waiters seemed attentive but perhaps too busy for the number of staff. Nevertheless, I would recommend this restaurant and will look forward to returning.
I like this restaurant and have been many times. This time, the brunch menu was a bit disappointing. Our server was great, doing every thing that she could to make me happy, including trading out what I’d ordered for something else when she saw I wasn’t thrilled with it. She was cheerful and eager to please. I’ll be back, although maybe not for brunch.
Majestic is becoming one of our favorite local haunts. Great food, amazing service!
I enjoy the vibe of this place and the cocktails immensely. The bar is a great casual hang out and the bartenders are skilled. The service is quick, attentive and knowledgeable. The only drawback is the central section has a tin ceiling and all the noise is reflected out to the sides. It can be very loud (not a problem unique to this restaurant,) so conversation in the dining area can be a challenge. The bar doesn't have this problem. I'm sure I'll go back.
Delicious breakfast as always
We generally love the Majestic but will not be going back for brunch. We had a reservation but were seated far back by the kitchen when there were plenty of seats closer to the front. It was very loud in the back and difficult to hear conversations. Our server took a very long time to take our order and check with us later for the check--the whole meal for just 5 people took about 2 hours. The breakfast potatoes were not very good - lots of seasoning but little flavor, soft, and mushy. :(
The service was poor as the restore t grew so busy and there didn’t seem to be e Pugh staff to serve adequately.
Very good food and a great ambiance in this restaurant. You won't go away hungry and the wait staff is very good about making sure you are taken care of. I will definitely go back.
A great place for an excellent meal. Quiet enough to have good conversation, too. Will be back!
I love The Majestic, we have a fantastic experience every time. This restaurant week dinner was the first visit for my parents and they loved the relaxed and unique ambience of the place and the creativity of some of the dishes.
The only tiny nitpick I have with my last visit is that I ordered a sangria and it came with some ice that diluted the flavor. Wish they'd asked about the ice thing beforehand. Otherwise, everything was amazing.
Great food as always. Sea Bass was great along with the Coconut Cake was wonderful. Service was good but not as good as it has been in past visits.
The quality of food was outstanding. We had a great meal. This is my third time in 2 years having a meal here and I’ve not been disappointed. Definitely reaching its way to the top of my favorites here in the area.
Cool place, good food, good service. Some reviewers called Majestic upscale, i would disagree. Husband wasn’t blown away with his spaghetti, bisque was really good though.
Our first time there and we’ll definitely be back. Joshua P made sure to walk us through the menu, highlighting his favorites. Service was excellent, food was superb. So glad to have this neighborhood gem close by.
Very very noisy !
Food is excellent
Service was ok not great
Because it was restaurant week, the service was busy and rushed. We were not offered a coffee refill.
Because it was restaurant week, the restaurant was really crowded and the noise level high. It was difficult to talk.
However, the food was good and a good value. As always, the bar selections of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages was above average.
Enjoyed it very much. The waiter was new but checked on my dietary requests so that I could choose well for my particular diet. The prime rib special was medium rare to my specs and they substituted delicious Brussels sprouts for the potatoes without issue. The peppers appetizer was yummy. Nice booth to catch up with an old friend.
The Good: Food was prepared well and tasted fine. Service was good.
The Bad: The noise level was so high it required yelling to hear your companion or speak to the waitstaff.
The Ugly: We could not wait to leave because of the noise level.
In summary: If you do not want to converse with anyone and you are immune to deafening noise levels go the Majestic since the food is quite good. If you want a relaxing enjoyable meal just reconsider.
The Majestic is a very lively restaurant with amazing food. I caught up with a few friends here during restaurant week. The food was great and they had half price bottles of wine! If you’re looking for a more quiet ambiance, this might not be the best place, but otherwise, a very cozy and delicious experience!
We had a wonderful dinner for restaurant week on Wednesday eve. Because we were not able to be seated at our reservation time we were offered a cocktail on the house . And then when our table was ready, the delicious deviled eggs appetizer was brought to us for our patience .
We were so impressed that the staff cared and treated us so respectfully.
I have celebrated two birthdays here in the past and must say that the Majestic never disappoints!
The food is always amazing and the service is the best .
I recommend to all my friends and coworkers all the time
The Majestic is always delightful, but this meal was particularly wonderful! The food was incredible, and while our server was stretched a bit thin, he was so friendly, and the manager came over to take our drinks order as soon as we sat down. The Majestic is a neighborhood favorite, and we remain happy, full, and loyal!
Not a first date place, but definitely a date night. I went for restaurant week but ordered off the regular menu because the hamburger and coconut cake are my reasons for coming.
We went for Restaurant Week for lunch, which was advertised but not offered. We ordered off the menu; Food was so so, not anything I’d come back. Service was good. Unimpressed.
We love the Majestic! We go there often for special occasions. The food and service are always excellent, the best in Old Town. I just wish they would vary the menu a little more. They seems to have locked in the same menu with only slight seasonal variations. That is the only thing that keeps us from going back more often.
I ordered a hanger steak mid rare and it came out mid-well. Wasn’t expecting much but was expecting a little more then what I got and for the type of restaurant this is, the prices are a bit much.
Delicious and wonderful as always! The chicken and waffles are the best we’ve had!
Lovely meal and atmosphere.
Amazing place, will be back.
We always have a good experience at the Majestic. Rob was our server once again, he is so helpful in making good suggestions for what we might eat and drink. He helps to make the experience a very positive one! Thanks Rob!
The Majestic was delicious! I’d been for happy hour a couple times but not yet for dinner. We went for dinner during Alexandria Restaurant Week - SO good!
Nice restaurant with history, noise level was not so desirable
We are from out of town and searched the internet for places close to our hotel. The Majestic came up and we liked their menu. Upon arrival we were informed that it was restaurant week, so we had a choice between the regular menu or the special Restaurant week menu. We chose the special menu. The food was excellant and the service top notch. Portion sizes were perfect and we left completely satisfied. When we are in the area again we will certainly be back at the Majestic.
