The newly renovated 85-seat dining room features a comfortable and sophisticated setting of intimate booths, individual tables facing a high back banquette, and inviting contemporary club chairs in the single dining room. Extensive updates were made to the finishes, fixtures, and furnishings, and the newly hand-waxed walls are covered in salon-style collections of art, objects, and interesting images for a dynamic setting.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere especially as connecting with an old friend who looked as great as ever.
Good service and very accommodating to our needs. I will definitely go back in the future.
This place lives up to the hype! Great pick for foodie. The short ribs and chicken were both fantastic.
Great art-deco atmosphere. Very good service and food.
Consistently great food and environment. The service is amazing and it lends itself to a great family friendly environment.
We love Downtown Alexandria. This place was not bad but we won’t go again. The noise was so LOUD, not music, just people talking over everyone else. My boyfriend ordered the duck and I had the chicken. The duck was fine, the chicken was dry. Other than the noise, the ambiance was nice.
You'll love The Majestic. The food is great and the ambience is fun but not too loud. Definitely order the homemade chips with blue cheese and bacon app. Delicious!
Loved celebrating my birthday here. Delicious food. Attentive service. Two vegetarians and one non-veg and we all found great choices. A gem.
We had a wonderful family dinner midweek for a special occasion. The food was great and very reasonably priced as compared to other Old Town spots. Jen was a very attentive and professional server. It was our first time to the Majestic and we will definitely be back!
The waitress that night was excellent and the food was great, i will return soon and will pass the word around.
Great staff and delicious food! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday in such an elegant and special way!
All the dishes that our party of 7 got for brunch were great. 1 order of monkey bread was enough for the whole table to try
Literally the best braised short ribs and mashed potatoes of my life. Great service and vibe. Will visit again the next time we are in town. If you have the choice to dine here, you should do it!
Pretty great, close-quarters restaurant. Definitely noisy, but almost in a good way - you can talk to the person across from you without worrying about the people next to you hearing clearly. The food was very good. We had deviled eggs, Chilean sea bass, and the scallops. The sea bass dish was terrific and the other dishes were very good. It's definitely a good spot to visit in Old Town.
Majestic is a bustling, busy, neighborhood place on a King Street with a fun buzz. Our server, Daniel, was fantastic, with attentive service and good starter and wine suggestions. However, three of our four entrees were so salty, they were almost inedible. Two worst were sea bass and the third was what tasted like a brined pork chop. (The Duck was good, by the way.). When the over-salted entrees were mentioned to our server, he apologized, spoke to the kitchen staff, and comped a round of drinks. But no explanation or substitution was offered for the saltiness of 2/3 of our order. Weird. We probably won’t return.
Everything was great. The server turned down the music but it was still difficult to hear. Also very dark.
First time visit. Staff was outstanding—from the hostess to the server. The server made recommendations that were amazing. Best scallops we’ve had in years. They made a weekday birthday celebration feel special and we both appreciated it. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
It's always loud here, but the food is fantastic. Beet salad, octopus, brussels sprouts, cauliflower (spicy!) and the scallops were all delicious. The scallops, especially, were divine! Great service!
For the life of we I wish I could remember our servers name, but I can’t. We spent this past Saturday 02 March 2019 there for a 630 pm reservation. It was crowded in a good way and we went straight back to our table. No waiting. She created the perfect mock tails for my newly pregnant best friend and recommended Devine dishes. She checked on us regularly without ever disappearing. I did try to get her attention, but I’m quiet by nature and it was a little louder than I think it could have been as t why she didn’t hear me. But she was in and out around our table so often that I didn’t have to wait that much longer to ask for another cocktail. Now I can say I’ve had brunch, dinner, and just drinks at the majestic and it’s definitely a place to visit in Old town.
The food is simply fantastic. It has a classy, but not too classy, ambiance. Highly recommended.
First time we went for dinner. Food very good very noisy
Wonderful as usual. The place was full so the service was slowed down slightly. However, management was constantly working to help the wait staff keep things moving.
Good food service a little slow
I was expecting more from this restaurant, especially for a well respected spot in Alexandria. The atmosphere and service were fine. However the food was a let down. My wife's duck was raw and had to be sent back, the next plate of duck was overcooked. While my scallops were cooked ok, they did not have a lot of flavor.
We had a very nice brunch. The server was able to answer all of our menu questions, got us a side from the dinner menu and made our menu modifications.
Thank you for a very nice meal.
Been going to Majestic off and on since they first opened. It has vastly improved. The six of us, all had great meals with good service. We were all happy with the experience and will return in the very near future-
This is a great local spot with a fun vibe and tasty food. We enjoyed the potato chips with blue cheese the amazing artichoke hearts and grilled octopus to start. For entrees, there was the amazing pork chop, the mouth-watering chicken, a steaming bowl of mussels and 2 of us shared the pasta dish. We also gobbled up the mac n cheese, 2 orders of Brussels sprouts and the cauliflower.
The 6 of us split 2 orders of the coconut cake for dessert. I will be going back next sunday for the fried chicken dinner!
enjoy the service, ambiance and the food.
Excellent restaurant and atmosphere. Food was great. Service is always good at this restaurant. We had the Sea Bass and Scallops. Both were delicious
I chose to celebrate my birthday dinner at the Majestic, as I love the food and ambience. Last night I found the service to be less than desirable. The server, Melissa, was not attentive in the very least. I had to ask another server if she could take our food order. I won’t be returning to The Majestic for a while based off my recent experience.
Have been here several times for lunch and loved it. Also it’s s great happy hour. We felt dinner wasn’t as good as our other experiences but we do plan to try dinner again.
Food was pretty good, different food offerings I haven't seen at other restaurants, but I wouldn't say it's at the top of the list for places I'd like to visit again anytime soon. I think what turned me off the most is the waiter was nowhere to be found at some points in our lunch and we had to ask multiple times for the salt, pepper, lemon wedges for the table. It's ok, but I'm not rushing back anytime soon.
Great cocktails and interesting American menu. Had a really nice time with friends. Highly recommend...
Service at brunch was excellent -- the hostess who seated us in a booth, our waiter, Rob, and a busboy who sprang to our immediate need when Rob was elsewhere. My friend's food was very good -- avocado toast with a poached egg. But I was disappointed in my selection, Eggs Shakshuka, because the spicy tomato sauce completely overwhelmed the taste of the poached eggs as well as the taste of the accompanying lamb merguez sausage. We will be back, however, maybe for the Sunday Supper, which sounds like a great idea as well as a bargain.
The Majestic is a great place for a nice Sunday brunch. The avocado toast, sirloin omelet, and mushroom grilled cheese were all enjoyed by our small group. The drinks (flight of mimosas and bloody mary) were great. Best of all was superb service by Sarah.
Food was phenomenal, as always. Server appeared to be distracted and went to talk to another table for extended stretches (she was pleasant, though). The manager on shift also didn't seem to be bothered to check on our table's gluten intolerance (Celiac's) as other managers have in the past.
Besides that all the other staff was nice, the food was stellar, just felt a touch overlooked by staff this particular Saturday night.
The main dishes were cold (the duck, the burger)--and the sides were as well (roasted brocollini). The kale Caesar salad was much too wet. The wine was "old"--it had been open for a while and had a vinegary taste. And even though I said up front that I was allergic to an ingredient in a spread (horseradish), they put it on my food anyway. By the time the kitchen re-made it, my dinner companion was done eating. I'd been looking forward to coming to the Majestic for years, based on its reputation. I was sorely disappointed. (I will say, though, that they took my main dish off the bill, which I appreciated.)
A great tasting menu never changes the ambiance. The experience was nice but not the most romantic setting. Its friendly and inviting with an eager service staff to ensure your time is nice. I would recommend this for any occasion but tight spacing leaves no room for intimate conversations.
We dined at The Majestic for Thanksgiving, New Year’s and Valentine’s Day. On none of those occasions did it fail to please. From the fantastic and creative cocktails at the bar to the ambience, the elegantly prepared cuisine and the exceptional service we were completely and totally satisfied with our entire experience. We highly recommend The Majestic for a special, adult evening out on the town.
