Great food & service
Booked via Open Table a quiet anniversary dinner for my parents now married 68 years (not a misprint). The hostess, Jenn was inviting and accommodating. The server, Debbie, was a warm, professional that took an interest in us dining with them in this special occasion. Outstanding food, expertly and artfully prepared and presented in style. All while a fabulous sound of an acoustic guitar danced throughout the venue.
Thank you for a magical evening. Can’t wait to return...
Sad to see such a nice place close down
Very nice atmosphere, generous portions with great service; however, we found the food to be way over salted. Loved the interior design and ambiance. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience for our occasion.
Nice cozy...great sunday brunch. Friendly staff. Ask to seat at one of Debbie's tables...she's awesome!
Sunday Brunch is always a treat. I will miss this place and am trying to go as often as possible before they close/move.
Our server, Debbie, was outstanding. She was personable and attentive. Definitely enhanced our experience.
Lovely restaurant. The food is cooked beautifully and presented very well. My ONLY complaint is I wish they didn’t serve everything we ate with Balsamic vinegar. The food stands well on its own, but it gets overpowered by the vinegar. Another sauce for the steak would be quite nice and make everything not feel quite so one note. Otherwise, we love this restaurant and can’t figure out why they weren’t jam packed.
The service and ambience were lovely. The food, however, failed on every dish except for the appetizer. The smoked seafood cakes were delicious. My mother ordered the nut crusted pork tenderloin medallions and the meat was overcooked and difficult to chew. I ordered the pan seared trout. The fish was cooked properly, but the breading was gummy and pasty. The green beans were so lightly steamed that they were almost raw. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee, which took 25 minutes to get. The consistency was almost that of scrambled eggs. I think it's the first dessert I've ever not-finished. Also, they were out of 3 menu entrees, and on an already limited menu, that left our options few.
Highlights: our server was excellent, the bread was delicious, the ambience was relaxing and the appetizer was good.
Lovely place with nice ambiance. Great for a cozy date night or celebrating a special occasion.
Ate Sunday brunch. Delishious! Loved the omelet, soup, and Buffett. Also included dessert. Great deal with Groupon.
We used to love this restaurant but sadly, we don't find much of a reason to go there any longer. The best parts of the restaurant are when Keith is playing his guitar and that you actually have a tablecloth.
The prices are high for the quality of the food. Even with a Groupon, we felt our dinner was over priced. They need more servers or bus persons. I don't like to feel that our server is stressed trying to cover all of his/her tables. One person at our table got the wrong dish. The supposedly "correct" dish came out wrong, but nobody bothered to check back how the food was. The salad that comes with dinner is tiny. The appetizer of fries with Parmesan: They are simply frozen steak fries dolled up. These day, there's no excuse to put fries as a specialty unless they are freshly made. I can make frozen fries at home.
The fresh bread was delicious! That's one thing that never disappoints.
Delicious meal with great service
Great food with excellent service; good selection of wines and local beers.
Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere.
Wonderful food and fabulous service!! Highly recommend!
Everything is delicious.
We went to Sunday Brunch with friends. We had an awesome time. The food & service was great!
We have enjoyed dining at the Magnolia Thomas House for many years. The cuisine is very special and the dishes are always delicious. The service has always been excellent. This has been our go to place for special occasion dinners. Our most recent visit was for Sunday brunch and it was awesome. We are so unhappy to hear that this favorite place of ours is about to be torn down so the land can be repurposed. Please open at a new location!
Appropriately dimmed light. Single guitar for background music. Great dipping sauce for the Parmesan biscuits.
As always Magnolia Thomas delivers quality American cuisine with a southern flair.
This is my second time to visit this restaurant for Sunday Brunch. It is always delicious. Our server was forgetful and sleepy but otherwise we enjoyed ourselves.
Wonderful food and service!
Excellent dinner and excellent service. First time eating there, and we will definitely be back!
Food was excellent. Service had some very small issues. Over all this was a delightful experience. Would gladly recommend to anyone.
Birthday dinner with family
Noise a little loud but tolerable
I have been to Magnolia Thomas many times. But this was definitely my last time. I and my date made a dinner reservation at 6:45 pm. We were there on time. But nobody seated us till 7:05 pm. The place was pact. Once we were finally seated, we placed our order (7:20 pm). Time passed, after 1 hour and 20 minutes, there was no sign of food. Finally, someone showed up and apologized. He said they overdid our steak and had to prepare a new one. We had to leave as we had another appointment at 9:00 pm. So we asked for the check without eating anything. You think they would not charge you because they did not provide service. You are wrong! They brought the bill at full price at 8:55 pm. They also brought our food boxed with the check. I was very embarrassed in front of my date. So did not say anything, paid the bill and left. But I will never go there again. They just lost a good customer for ever.
My wife and I have been going to Magnolia Thomas now for the past few years for special occasions like Valentine's Day, Anniversary, and Birthday's and it is always well worth the money. From the professionalism of the wait staff to the magnificent food prepared by the chef and the quiet ambience by candlelight, this place is certainly a neighborhood gem and we will certainly keep our tradition alive here at the Magnolia Thomas Restaurant.
LOVE THIS Place! Food is some of the best we've had. Very creative dishes, appetizers. I had the blackened scallops with asparagus risotto, my husband had the Magnolias Fried Chicken. Nice size portions, great value, great service, great atmosphere. Recommend over and over. We had our wedding and reception here as well. Great comments from guests on the food.
Our reservation was for the Valentine's Holiday and the seating scheduled for 8:15 pm. We did not wait more than 5 minutes after arriving before seated. The waitress attended us within a few minutes and was never overbearing throughout the entire meal. On this special occasion, the restaurant offered a set menu with very nice choices. Our meal was a 5 course and the portions very adequate. Started with TWO appetizers - we choose a cheese plate and the crab cakes. Both delicious. The crab cakes could have passed as an entree. Soup, salad, entree and TWO desserts to complete the full meal deal. Needless to say, we were stuffed and still brought home a portion of the entree for lunch the next day.
The restaurant had a musician playing a classical guitar for almost the entire time we were there - close to 2 hours. Very enjoyable - even with all the guests in the multiple rooms adjacent to where we sat, the atmosphere was not too loud at all.
We must have been one of the last couples to get seated as we were one of only a few patrons left in the restaurant towards the end of the wonderful meal. Kind of nice. It really showed when we went to leave and were only a few cars left in what was a crowded parking lot when we arrived.
I've visited the restaurant a number of times and have enjoyed the same positive experience each time. The food is always incredible. It's an hour drive from where I live but definitely worth it. They offer a Sunday brunch which I understand is quite popular and draws a good crowd. Might just have to do that one of these days.
Good night with my lady. Thanks guys
Wonderful evening with a fabulous Valentine’s Day menu!!! We highly recommend this restaurant, and look forward to going back!
This has become one of our favorite special occasion places to go. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. Just a wonderful dining experience.
We had a wonderful time! Great food, service and ambiance!
A very average meal with pretty slow service. I was hoping for more.
Love the place!! Great Brunch Buffet!! We bring our family here all the time.
Good food and service!!!
Our overall experience was very nice. Our server knew the menu and was able to make suggestions. Would definitely eat there again.
The food was fabulous, the waiter was helpful and very knowledgeable about the dishes, and the service time was perfect. We will definitely be dining here again.
