About The Madison Bar and Grill
The Madison Bar and Grill is filled with an ambiance and class that is usually reserved for Manhattan eateries. The décor works an evocative, magical mood, with bare wood floors, wainscoted walls, soft lighting and subtle touches from a bygone era.
Patrons can also enjoy The Madison’s eclectic American Cuisine at the bar or outdoors in an al fresco cafe that wraps around the street corner.
Be sure not to miss The Madison’s Weekly Events, including the Sunday Jazz Brunch, First Seating, Tuesday Night Martini Madness, Thursday Taco Night and Endless Happy Hour. The restaurant also offers Private Parties and Off-Premises Catering.

The Madison Bar and Grill Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointing experience. Heard great things about the brunch buffet so used an Open Table Reward for brunch. We were seated in Dining Room, buffet is in bar. We could not get to the bar, a large stroller was blocking the narrow entrance from the dining room to the bar and people waiting for tables at the restaurant entrance with strollers were blocking even more. Instead, w e ordered Eggs Benedict (very over cooked although the crab cake it was served on was great). Another person had an overcooked omelette. Additionally, it was so loud due two two very large tables of about 20 people that you could not have a conversation. The strollers in addition to blocking the entrance/exit were probably a fire hazard. I wish I hadn't wasted my Open Table reward on this restaurant as there are so many great brunch restaurants in Hoboken.
Upon entering, I was immediately punched in the face by an array of scents that shocked, pleased, and bewildered me. Did I just walk into a bar/restaurant, or a perfume shop specializing in gourmet-food smells from every corner of our planet? Disoriented and aroused, I greeted my date. A hostess touched both of our shoulders, and for a moment I thought it was Aphrodite herself. A connection full of love flowed between our three bodies as I walked to the throne I would spend the next hour in. I was handed a menu that contained delicacies that stretched from the eastern coast of Thailand, all the way to the western tip of South Africa. At this point, my senses were so pleased and overwhelmed, I fell into an ecstatic state. Where had I been the past thirty minutes of my life? I believe that I must have blacked out for a portion of this experience. Our waitress came over and brought me back to reality, letting me know that I needed to nourish my body, only my best interest on her mind. Confused slightly intimidated, I ordered the Chicken Parm. I waited the next twenty minutes in a pool of laughs and temptation, Madison’s setting the scene for bad decisions to be made. Upon receiving my meal, I had to look away for a moment. The beauty of the preparation was enough to make a grown man blush. My first bite left me clutching the table, my eyes rolled back in my head, and my knees locked out. Every bite brought me closer and closer to climax. Would my stomach fill before my pants? It didn’t matter, I was hooked. The attentiveness of our waitress kept sweet white wine from the finest wineries of France flowing down my throat throughout this journey. I’m about to hit the character max so I’ll cut it off here. 4.4/5 would return.
The risotto says it can be made vegetarian - but the cost is the same without scallops?
Overall the prices make no sense, there’s no price ratio between items, like perceived value was never considered. This makes me question the ingredients.
The veggie burger is dry and I paid $2 extra for cheese I couldn’t taste. I also had to send it back because the first time it was made with sauce I asked to have on the side.
Our waitress never asked how our food was.
The drinks are weak for $12.
I’ve gone to the Madison many times over the past 10 years and while the food has never been exceptional and this was by far below standard.
I would highly recommend the Madison to friends and family. As always, food is consistently fresh and delicious. Great selection for appetizers, and small bites. The entrée menu and specials are also great. I had the Lobster Risotto and it was one of the best I've had. The bartenders are on with the drinks. The waitress and staff are very friendly and warm. The Madison is a great place to have an enjoyable relaxing delicious meal. The owner is also very friendly.
We got to the restaurant for dinner no even one person was there so we got seat down anyway thinking that was because of the time 10pm but it’s Saturday night anyway 2 minutes later came our waitress with the menus gave us sometime to decided for drinks and then place the main order we ordered just 3 burgers and one. Of my friend soup and salad it took them 35 minutes to prepare our order to be honest burgers were good, after the meal was served to get to our waitress was a mission I had to got up 4 times from our table to try to reach her very disappointed so we order anyway desserts which there were absolutely horrible créeme brûlée it wasn’t caramelizad on the top so I had to ask if they can do it i wondering why I have to ask them to make it in the right way , the chocolate volcano with ice cream it was also terrible the volcano cake it was a little warm when it supposed to be hot to make a nice complement with the ice cream . By the way the restaurant was so cold the heater it wasn’t working absolutely a real bad experience but got to the conclusion that the restaurant was so empty because of the bad service and quality of the food . We won’t come back again .
Food is always good. We didn’t realize when we made the reservation that the back dining room was reserved for an event and weren’t expecting to sit in the bar area but it was fine. One of our food orders was prepared wrong but the service and drinks were both good.
The food we ordered was all very delicious. The only mix-up was that they brought two incorrect dishes out to us the first time (we were a party of 4), which had to be corrected after the fact. The restaurant wasn't very crowded, so it's hard to imagine why there was a mix up for two people in our party, but once all the orders came out correctly, it was very good!
Our party of 5 sat outside on the patio. the weather was glorious but the seating was a little cramped. Four of us ordered salads which were excellent. I had lamb sliders which I ordered medium rare. they were like little hockey pucks. Hated them. Even worse, the menu said they came with cumin chick peas. there were about 6 chick peas, no hint of cumin, but cooked into hard little pellets that were more like nuts than chick peas. We had drinks, coffee and a few desserts which were fine. Excellent Server.
It was a very cute place with some good food, but pretty loud. One of our guests was running late, and we told the waitress about 2-3 times before he showed up. Once he got there, it was as if she just forgot about our table and we waited a good 15 -20 minutes before she came back. The food was good however, and we enjoyed our time there for the most part.
Bar side can be very loud depending on the day and time, but the other more formal side is quieter. The service is very pleasant. I left my cell phone at the table and upon return to hopefully find it, the waitress had it in the back for me. I will say that the wine is reasonable, but the cocktails are very over priced for the size and amount of liquor in the drinks. As in most places, the glasses are filled with mostly ice.
Unplanned family cluster of 6 coming from local area for a 1:00 pm lunch. Our fourth visit. Few other diners so service was quick and friendly as usual. Nice selection of beers and drinks were good with a generous pour. Spicy shrimp, calamari, eggs benedict, cheeseburgers, chicken noodle soup and salads. No complaints from what is usually a pretty picky group. Broad selection of choices. Well prepared pub food with appealing presentation.
overall the restaurant was good and I loved the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced and tasty but the drinks were a little on the high side. The Vodka Tonic was weak and filled with a lot of ice. Our waiter was very attentive and the service was very good.
Easter Brunch at The Madison was excellent. Was originally concerned when they called and told me Easter would be brunch only-no ordering off the menu. The buffet food was not buffet food-if that makes sense. Filet Mignon and lamb were both great but the discussion at our table was about the sliced pork loin entrée and the crab cakes benedict. The service was on point too! Our waitress was very friendly & accommodating and checked on us often to see if we needed anything. We live 3 hours away and were visiting family that recently moved to Hoboken. We look forward to dining there again the next time we visit.
We sat in the dining area and i was taken off guard. I thought i was going to Madison bar and grill to eat bar food in a fun bar setting, but the dinning area was the complete opposite. This restaurant offers both scenes, nice date night quiet and fun bar loud side. Choose wisely :)
