About

This restaurant is permanently closed. "Fresh food, made with ingredients that just came out of the ground. That was how we ate growing up back home, but when I was starting out, no one here called it that,” Tromba said with a laugh.
The Mad Rose offers a globe-trotting mix of dishes representing such Mediterranean countries as Spain, France, Argentina, Greece and, yes, Italy!"

Open table allowed us to book a reservation, but when we arrived the place was closed for repairs.

Without question the best Italian food in Ventura County. The veal parm is to die for.

I went to dinner with my husband. They were having issues using open table for reservations. We both ordered pasta, him ordering penne with a tomato and sausage sauce and me ordering angel hair with a tomato basil sauce. His portion was normal, decent, but not fantastic. My portion was abysmal, constituting maybe four or five bites of pasta and the same of tomatoes. Each dish tasted fine. We each paid between $16 and $18 for our order. For that money, I would have at least expected regular portions of pasta that would have filled me up. I should add that I am a relatively small female who does not eat a ton. That I was left unsatisfied means that you, too, will be left unsatisfied, especially if you order the angel hair pasta. Oh, and I was not alone in this. I saw an equally disappointed look of another patron who ordered the same. There must be a better place in Ventura for decent Italian. The only upside was that the wine pour was generous.
