   I put one star for the food but we did not end up eating a full meal there. The appetizer we ordered was fine, but we rushed through it to get to another restaurant. My family and I love the MacMillan‘s in Maryfield and we’re excited to go to the newly opened MacMillan‘s in old town Alexandria. This is now the third time we’ve gone there and the second time we left early because of poor Service. This night, we were going to go there for some drinks, a nice dinner and to sit out in the good weather, and it took us an hour to get one round of drinks and an appetizer we had to ask several times for status updates and while the waitress was very nice. It got to the point where we decided to close out and eat at another place.  the outdoor area was popular, but not crowded but for some reason, there was only one waitress and she was often out of the area and when she was there, she was often chatting with customers .

   Food was mediocre. Ordered fish and chips. Got two small pieces of some kind of fish, and a plate full of fries that were recently cooked, but not really hot. And I was there by myself so it is not like they were holding mine entree waiting for another to be finished. Service was mediocre.

   Food came out 1 dish at a time. 1/2 table was served and others were waiting. Did not comp birthday bread pudding. Nor did they make any form of celebration about the birthday. I had informed them once on the reservation and upon arrival Will not be back for any celebrations. Soup was salty. Figs were not on fig bread. It should state a fig sauce vs actual figs. Very misleading. This is not my first time here, but might be my last! Drinks were light Expensive $18.99 for wedge of lettuce salad w/0 a protein

   My wife and went to brunch on Sunday. The brunch menu had a nice selection. Our experience was awesome. The place was empty which we loved. I think the snow kept people home. The thing that made it most enjoyable was not just our tasty meal but the excellent service that we got from our waiter Derick. He was very attentive but at the same time he didn’t crowd us. We never felt rushed. Again the food was good we are very pleased and will definitely go back.
