We were thoroughly impressed by Hunter the bartender. The food was to die for. I could eat brisket every day.
Food is average, but we received all at once, regardless of the appetizer and main dishes. We ordered 2 bottles of wine, and she poured it into the wine glass as like beers. She has no basic knowledge of wine. And dessert? Omg.. we got them with aluminum foil cup. What the heck is!! We asked her about restaurant’s closing hours and she said nine! Are you kidding me? On your website, it says the restaurant opens until 12am on Thursday. She just pressed us to pay check. We had foods but didn’t received any service from restaurant. I don’t think I come back again.
Excellent food and great atmosphere. There was a live band too, which was nice. We rarely saw our server (but did see many others around attending to their tables). Not sure if he was new or overwhelmed or what but it was kind of a bummer. We would have stayed and enjoyed a few drinks but felt like we were already chasing him down for stuff (more water, etc).
The seating is very basic and not particularly comfortable. It was also too dark and we had to use our phones to be able to read the menu. The brisket was the best thing we ordered. The chili was very spicy, wings and the grilled sausage and cheese appetizer were over cooked and dry.
We had a wonderful experience. The food, staff, and drinks were amazing. We had a delicious meal and are already making plans to go back!
Great food and atmosphere.
Food was great
Excellent food, jazz band was too loud, even in the next room for conversation.
The food was delicious and the service as great. We brought our baby and it was a relaxed enough environment that we didn’t feel worried about her making too much noise. The drinks were great too!
The Lucky Well is always a good time! We had a reservation this past Sunday, our table was ready when we arrived. The owner, Chad Rosenthal, was at the door and welcomed us! The bar has an extensive list of whiskey cocktails and there is a good selection of beer on tap. We chose a beer from the list of bottled choices. We were sad to see our favorite starter no longer on the menu, the fried pickles and pablano peppers. My husband ordered the brisket, which he loved! I got the fish and fries, a huge portion! Ambler has such a great selection of restaurants. We love dining in Ambler and especially at the Lucky Well!
Overall had a wonderful experience at the Lucky Well. The appetizers, especially the Cauliflower were terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed my ribs. The meat melted off the bones and the BBQ sauce was quite tasty. Waitress was knowledgeable and attentive.
I do have a major gripe about the dessert we ordered. The Key Lime Pie portion was small, and too much crust, too much whipped cream and far too little lime. I was shocked to see that this dessert was $9 when the bill arrived.
Loved the atmosphere! Lucky Mac n cheese balls were incredible!! Brisket was kind of fatty. Live band came on and made it very hard for conversation but it was fun! I will definitely try Lucky Well again!
They ran out of brisket at 7pm, and the meal took an hour to get to us. Our last experience was much better
Atmosphere was great, but food was disappointing. Barbecue should be the star, but brisket was barely edible with fat and gristle. Second visit in a couple of years with same poor dining experience.
If you love BBQ this is a great restaurant. Everything was cooked to perfection and so flavorful.
Food was yummy! Loved the Mexican cauliflower appetizer!
Everything was great food was good will come back!
I went on a slow night which may have been quieter than usual, so the noise level on my review may differ. The service was great and so was the food. I can’t wait to go back!
Great thank you. Words words words
Awesome meal. Amazing new appetizer, Mexican Cauliflower. Must try it. Also great interactions with Chef Chad!!!
The place was nice, the service was great, the ribs were delicious but the brisket was way too dry.
I will come back to check other foods like the flank steak sandwich.
Smoked meats were tender and seasoned perfectly. The place is alacarte so it gets very pricey when ordering but the sides complimented the BBQ. The roasted Brussels sprouts were surprisingly the best of what we ordered. Although we came for restaurant week the place didn't offer any true specials which were disappointed by. All in all it was a great evening just a bit pricey for BBQ.
The BBQ meats were wonderful. we had 4 sides and two were very good. A third, the mac and cheese, i was told was the best!
Chad and his team never disappoint! My husband and I go to the Lucky Well often, we love the brisket and wings!
We had a great time at The Lucky Well celebrating my dad's 82nd birthday! The food and drinks were great and our server was the best! The Mexican Cauliflower appetizer was especially delicious.
I had my 4 week old daughter with us and the staff was very accommodating - even let me use the empty back room when she started to cry so I didn't have to go out in the cold!
Lively atmosphere, but menu limited to very fatty foods. No healthy options other than a tough kale salad. It would be nice if something healthy was offered for those in the group interested. Otherwise, a fun place to be.
Always great food!!
I like to eat, drink, travel and experience anything and everything new. The Lucky Well satisfied all of my cravings. I’ll be coming back, no complaints. How can I buy one of their hats? I like the logo!
I love the lucky well! The atmosphere is always festive and fun! The food and cocktails are great. Fun food for sharing.
The atmosphere was pretty good. We love live music and it was a cute place to enjoy it however we couldn't get any seats near the band area so we didn't stay long. The food I have to admit was really just so-so. I had a very dry BBQ brisket. I was pretty surprised that the dinner wasn't a little better considering the reviews I had seen. Maybe just an off night for the chief.
Great service from the time you walk in till you leave! Love this place!
Thanks for a fabulous meal to celebrate a special birthday!
Our experience at The Lucky Well was awesome from beginning to end. Easily the best barbecue I have had since moving back north. The service staff was kind and helpful with the menu. I can’t wait to go back again!!
We've eaten at Lucky Well several times and each dining experience was great. The food is wonderful and the service is good. We will be back.
We have been looking for authentic Memphis dry rub ribs since Chili's stopped selling them. My husband went to college in Memphis and loves them. He said they were the best he's had since Memphis. Dining area a little no-frills. I ordered a Crown Royal Manhattan, which was excellent.
Food was all excellent and our waitress was very attentive and super sweet to our kids.
Great food and the band was great as well.
Every bite was really good
Food and atmosphere was good. Don’t bother ordering the Chicken Apple Ball appetizer. Way over priced for the small amount of food you get. You couldn’t share it with more then one person.
My wife and I got together with one of her ex-coworkers and her husband
Unknowingly we picked a Saturday when Ambler had its X-mas Parade, so IMHO, that definitely contributed to our experience.
First off - the place was jammed to the gills and quite noisy up until the moment that the parade got close enough for folks to leave the warmth of the inside and go outside onto the street. Then it was empty and reasonably quiet, nice enough to enjoy ourselves.
Thus, (also unfortunately) our order went in during the mayhem and we never got our appetizer(Smoked Chicken + Apple Balls). The ex-worker's husband (Mike) claims that he saw it go to a different table... I can’t say the same but regardless - we never got it and it wasn't 'discovered' until we got our lunch plates.
To be fair, we got comp-ed a small version of it (about 1/2 of regular portion) which was nice, however I am sure most of the people will agree with me that you want to eat your appetizer BEFORE your main meal not with it. As it was - the taste was nice but un-inspiring (I am sure it got lost in the taste of the sandwich.... we already started eating when the server brought the appetizer)
Mike and I opted for flank steak sandwich. Again, while not bad by any means they were nothing to go gaga about (and at $17.00 - that's a bit steep to pay for an "OK" sandwich)
The ladies however raved about theirs (The Well Burger and The Sandwich (w\Brisket))
The 1/2 rack of ribs were also tasty (dry rub St. Louis Style). Fries were a bit on the overcooked side. Because 3 out of 5 dishes (not counting appetizer and FF) were quite good I gave the food 4 stars but everything else in our case merits no more than 3
Will we ever return? Perhaps;
