The Lucky Well
His critically acclaimed Memphis-style ribs, brisket, smoked chickens and side dishes are unquestionably some of the best barbecue one can find north of the Mason Dixon line. Chad expanded his menu and brand, to include comfort food, a full à la carte menu, a full service Whiskey bar and a live blues lounge...
The bar at The Lucky Well features a top-shelf whiskey collection, which naturally compliment the flavors coming out of the kitchen, along with craft-brewed beers and classic cocktails. Cocktails will include some of the ingredients used in the cooking process.

We really like " The Well", however, the service on Saturday night, seating at 7:00, was disappointing...We had two guests, first time visitors to The Well. Water never came until asked a third time. Our apps/salads and entrees were all served at the same time! ...and close to 30 plus minutes after we ordered. The taste of everything was excellent and the portions are generous.
The music entertainment was very good, but the overall volume made it 100% impossible to socialize.
We had to search for our server to get our check, and to finalize the closeout.
I recommend the Well for great food a happy, exciting vibe. If future Friday/Saturday entertainment is selected to enhance/supplement the social experience than it will be a terrific place to visit.Or if you are just going to enjoy live music and not socialize during the set ( we never caught a break) , that would be great too.
You know when you eat something so fantastic that your eyes roll? This happens with every bite. Even that last bite when your completely stuffed.
Great BBQ; the pork belly and shrimp appetizers were amazing. Very friendly service.
Incredible ribs !! Great experience!! Will bring a group of friends for the next dining experience!!
We went in expecting much better food. Web site did not indicate a brunch menu. Was a graduation /birthday/Mothers Day celebration. Saw limited brunch menu on table. Avocado toast sold out. Brioche French Toast was inedible. Burnt to a charcoal crisp. Embarrassing that the chef would send out for consumption. Daughters eggs were under cooked and cold. We really would have came later if we knew that they had changed the menu for Sunday. We decided to continue with their brunch and were extremely dissatisfied. Staff kept apologizing for what the kitchen ran out and quality sent from window. Sure missed the great regular menu they offer. Word of advice don’t do brunch at The Lucky Well. Will be sending an email to owner. We asked to talk to the Manager but he never came to our table. Did comp two entree’s and the drinks were delicious.
Mother’s day brunch was great!
Went for Mother’s Day. Food was amazing. Can’t wait to go back, might be my new local spot!!
I’ve been here before and it was decent. We took our mom for mother’s day on Saturday night and it was such a let down. All the food, apart from the Mac n cheese was lukewarm: chicken wings, Brussels sprouts, burgers, cornbread. Service was so slow. I understand it was busy but not busier than I’ve seen it before. No excuse for everything coming out almost cold.
The waiter nicely greeted me, took my order and that was it. After someone else served my food, I didn’t see the waiter for over 20 minutes to check in.
Basically, I needed to ask someone else for BBQ sauce and later to get my waiter for the check.
It wasn’t so busy and, if I’m going to an upscale place, with $$ prices, the servers should check in a few times, right?
Otherwise, the ribs were perfect and the sweet potato mash was excellent.
Spur of moment dinner. Been a few times. Never disappointed. Drinks great. Ribs tender. Will be back.
Music was great ... loud for dinner - but so good we loved it - The food was delicious- but each entree was served warm - not hot ... everything had great flavor - but wasn’t hot .... still a great night out !
Our first time at Lucky Well. We were very pleased overall and will definitely return. Ribs, wings and brisket all got a thumbs up from our group. Burgers were good, but over cooked as we asked for medium and were well done instead. Drinks were really good as well. A fun place.
Wonderful atmosphere, and music , is great. Most places don’t offer music. Great for us dancers
I really wanted to love this place. The restaurant is lovely, BUT the food left much to be desired.
The Lucky Balls lacked flavor and all you could taste were the breadcrumbs.
The brisket sandwich was incredibly dry. The fries were run of the mill shoestring fries that were not crispy and the seasons was a little heavy handed. I would have preferred if they made house made/cut fries.
Service was a little lacking as well- while our server was nice, he seemed bored and completely disengaged.
This was a disappointing dinner.
Great food great service and loved listening to the Blues. We will definitely be back
I have eaten here a bunch of times and the food, service, and drinks are always great. I usually go when there is live music on the weekends, and I really enjoy the band and the atmosphere.
Great time with my in laws. Amazing service!
If you don't mind a noisy place, good food and drinks are a staple here! Super location and bbq as it is meant to be, with all of the wonderful sides!
Great atmosphere. Friday night band was good, but loud for us trying to talk. Food was good, but a bit pricey. Our server was very nice but did forget a few things, which she either needed to be reminded of or she came back to get clarification. Good experience, would probably go again, but it was as excellent as I had hoped.
Food was delicious! Great first visit....will be back!
Asked for dry rub on the flank steak on my pear arugala salad and it was cooked perfectly. Always get the cornbread because it's the best I have had anywhere--always moist and a bit sweet.
Last night was louder than usual I think due to the happy hour before our early dinner before Slim and the band started. But if you're looking for quiet conversation best to head elsewhere on Butler. I prefer the happy din, great BBQ, and no cover blues the Well always serves up.
A small family meal of 3 generations. We sat for 10
minutes before our server checked on us. We were first seated in direct path to a large cocktail party 4 feet away. We requested to be moved and they accommodated. Service was very slow throughout the evening and after we received our appetizers, the server then informed us that she had put in our meal order. We were confused by that decision as it prolonged the evening.
This was not my first time at this restaurant. While the food was well seasoned, the service by the waitstaff was substandard.
They were out of pino gregio and Harp. The service was slow. The food was fair, at best.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 5 adults and 4 children. Everyone in our group was very happy with their meal. Our meals included the pork bbq ribs and pulled pork sandwich and smoked wings. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic. We would definitely go back.
The Lucky Well is hip but cozy, upscale but chill, pricey but satisfying...I think I've found my new spot!
I’ve been to The Lucky Well twice before and it’s always fantastic. The food is so flavorful and smoked just right. The service is always good as well. Depending on when you go, it can be loud inside as the place is always packed and they have live music. However, it’s never TOO loud at all. If you like barbecue, this is the place for you. If you like good food but haven’t tried much BBQ, this is also the place for you. The owner, Chad, is always kind and welcoming and he has a true passion for what he does. I highly recommend trying them out or going back if you haven’t been there in a while.
Fantastic food in a great atmosphere!!
Amazing food and quick service for our party of 13.
This will probably be our last time to the Lucky Well, at least for food. The ambiance and drink menu is phenomenal, especially the bourbon/whiskey selection. Music on the weekend is really nice too. Servers are always beyond nice. However, as other reviewers have said, the food portion sizes have gotten smaller and smaller as compared to the prices charged. On most recent visit, for $17, which is price for a half serving, we were served 3 skimpy slices of Brisket. They were delicious, but not at $5.60 a slice. As far as BBQ goes, there really aren’t too many options that are table-service. For the money though, think we’ll eat somewhere else, which is a shame.
Cocktails were good but brisket and ribs were dry. Cauliflower was undercooked but sauce was good. Meh.
Great food , drinks and service
Great food great service and really cool place go enjoy
Smoked Chicken was dry and had strange taste. Corn bread had 20 min wait.
The food is always excellent. Atmosphere is great. Drinks could be a bit more consistent? As in flavor and alcohol levels. Seems like the last two times we ordered Kentucky Tea it was either very sweet or more alcohol than a cocktail drink.
This place is amazing! The food is DELICIOUS, the service is phenomenal and the entertainment is amazing! This is the only restaurant I know of where the owner/“pit master” comes out and interacts with you because he WANTS to. He makes an effort to engage with the customers and can be see often during the meal. He takes great pride in his restaurant and it shows through. We love this place because it truly is perfect from the time we enter until we leave- and if it’s not, the staff will make it right.
We had a wonderful dinner. The wings are some of the best I ever had. I tried the Brunswick Stew and it was delicious. A hearty tomato based stew with pulled pork, brisket, corn, potatoes and beans. It was served with a piece of cornbread. I really enjoyed it! My guy ordered a Well Burger. Cooked perfectly. He enjoyed his dinner as well. We ordered baked beans with our meal and they were excellent. Our drinks were delicious as well!
The food is outstanding here. We really enjoy coming. We did have a 6pm reservation and had to wait to be seated until about 6:10. Which was odd because there were many open tables. However, it would not stop us from coming again - we always have a good experience.
I found the food to be overpriced. One catfish- 16.00! Cornbread overpriced and dry/hard. The fish and chips too greasy. Portion size, too small for price.
The service was good.
I love this place and would recommend it to anyone. The food an ambiance is great, just make sure if you are coming in on a Friday or Saturday night that you have a reservation.
