I love this place! Great customer service, decor and views are super! Outdoor dining to enjoy SD great weather! Highly recommended :)
I went with a friend before a concert.
We made a reservation online for 4:30.
The hostess greeted us with a smile and told us to sit anywhere.
We chose a table away from the wind, as the restaurant is very open. Very comfy seats.
We ordered some water and a bottle of wine....good selection of wine.
We noted that we liked the mellow music.
We had the calamari, which was delicious and served nice and hot...yum
Now the music was louder, and more energetic...not liking it.
Next we ordered a flat bread with caramelized onions, fig, cheese and arugula. This was amazing! All the items blended so we'll together. It was a wonderful burst of flavors in your mouth and cooked perfectly.
Now the music is even louder and not even close to mellow, so we mentioned that to our waiter who told us that others had also had the same complaint. He said the music was controlled by corporate and could not be changed
We enjoyed our experience except for the music, so 4 stars
Please consider changing the music...it was awful
I had heard a lot about The Lot, only to be sorely disappointed... The service was slower than I have ever experienced anywhere! When it takes an hour to get a flatbread, fish tacos, and chilaquiles, not to mention the overpriced wine by the glass, ridiculous really... Overpriced, poor service, and did I mention that it's right under Lindberg Field's flight path. Sorry, never to return
Location is fantastic. The experience stops there. Service was poor and the food was forgettable. Way better places to go inside liberty Station for food.
The only down part was the noise from the plans overheads. Otherwise we had a great experience.
Sat on the patio under a large umbrella that provided plenty of shade. Very comfortable and calm environment. Great area for catching up with friends or family. Diverse menu with enough options to please everyone. Specialty drinks were great. The major problem with this restaurant however, is that all three times I’ve dined there, the service has been beyond awful. You will wait up to 15 minutes for your server to greet you. They have not been welcoming or warm. In fact, some servers appear to be unhappy they are at work. It takes forever to get your beverages and food, and all three times I’ve been there, the server has never checked on how things are going and someone in our party has had to get up and ask for the check. Disappointing since the restaurant is in a great location. Have given it a fair chance, and with all the other wonderful places to dine in Dan Diego, why go back to this one?
Great dining at Liberty Station. Food was good, wait staff also good. Enjoyable evening. I’ll be back!
The food (brunch) was fantasic. The service was a bit slow because we, had a large group, but overall I would not hesitate to recommend it.
The ambiance of the restaurant belies the reality. Such a nice looking place with subpar service. Wait staff doesn’t bother anticipating customers needs. Coffee, with room for cream-but no spoon to stir. Had to use my fork. Creamer served as an afterthought in a plastic to go container used for dressing. Really? Tacky. No coffee refills. Food was good, but served room temp. Staff forgot parts of our order. Never once did staff make themselves available to ask if we needed anything. Seems like all efforts go toward serving their movie patrons. We were initially excited to have found a great brunch place. When we got home we were so disappointed that I looked up reviews for this place to see if our experience was a fluke. Apparently not, as we read a lot of reviewers whose experience mirrored our own. No point returning when they clearly don’t make strides to address problems brought to their attention via poor reviews.
The Lot was pretty good. Great service and great food.
Had a 7PM reservation for dinner. Upon arriving at the reservation time, was offered seating in the bar or outdoors only b/c according to the hostess a large party would be arriving later to be seated in the inside restaurant. Too cool outdoors so sat in the bar - crowded, noisy. The large party eventually showed u 90 minutes after we were seated in the bar. Would have been helpful to receive notification of outdoor restaurant seating only. I would have canceled my reservation had I known.
Took some prospects here and they loved it! The taco Tuesday with the live music was awesome!
Love the venue and today server Kate was over the top awesome and made birthday and girlfriend catch up fab! Thank you
Went there for comedy night. The restaurant really needs a cheaper tapas/appetizer menu. I'll go again for comedy...but not for the food. Too expensive. But the quality was good, and the service was great.
Will the food was out standing, very delicious
But it took long time to come out ,
The server was very nice . I will be back again
We had reservations at 12:30 but didn’t get seated until 1:15. There was no system of keeping track of who checked in, and this was obvious, so we kept checking back in and each time they had to find our name and the answer was always the same, “just a few more minutes.” With 3 small hungry children, this was not ideal. Once we got seated, we basically just helped ourselves to the buffet because nobody came to greet us for about 15 minutes. We had to get our children fed though so just started eating. We asked for silverware and they brought 2 sets. For a party of 5!! The food was pretty good. There wasn’t a huge selection but what was there was good. They ran out of plates and food items several times. I think they have great potential but the Mother’s Day brunch seemed to be more than they are capable of handling. We won’t be going back for any special occasions but may give them a try on a regular night.
Celebration for Mother’s Day. We had the brunch which was delicious but they could’ve been a bit more organized with the food. It seemed a bit disorganized or maybe not enough servers that day. They kept running out of plates and serving plates were always wet like they just came out of the dishwasher!
The band was great and the service excellent!
Great service, cool setting that makes it well worth the wait times. Portion size vs. food price $ is questionable. We were a large group after PLNU graduation and the staff was accommodating. Aww! Decent beer selection
Overall great atmosphere and delicious drinks but that’s about it. We went for happy hour but the Parmesan truffle fries were barely considered warm but the chips and guacamole were delicious. My girlfriend and I sat down at 9pm, about half the seating filled, and didn’t get served or asked if we needed food or drinks until 9:20.
Way overpriced and we were only one of a few people there. Lower prices and you restaurant would be full
It was the middle of the afternoon with very few customers and only one waitress. We could have used a few more visits from her, even simple iced tea refills took quite a while once requested. The food is very nice and beautifully presented but on the pricy side. I feel that we are paying for the lovely surroundings/view, which admittedly are exceptional.

The location is great for being right next to the movie theater and for cocktails and appetizers before a movie, it is good. For a place to go to have dinner, it's just meh. The food is neither good nor bad, just fine. The whipped goat cheese appetizer is super delicious though. The flatbread was just ok. The coffee bar coffee was just ok. As far as food that you order while in your seat at the movies, it's amazing, but to actually go to the restaurant, it's really just ok. The ambiance is really nice, the outdoor area is really nice with the fires and the heaters.
Great bartenders, ready good did and nice view views.
We love the food, however, the service is a bit too ‘relaxed’ to us. We had to wait for a long time for our sever to fulfill our requests (10+ minutes), and the finished plates were never cleared out - guess that is so we can reuse the silverware 😖.
I have always been told to try the Lot's brunch, but other than cook-to-order items, everything else was cold (scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, chicken, pasta, salmon). Not just room temperature, actually cold!
First of all, i called the restaurant before booking to make SURE that on Saturday the lunch menu would be available along with the brunch menu -- since i knew our diners had some special diet likes. i was told YES. However, that's not correct. The lunch menu is offered after 2pm on Saturday, so we were told after being seated. First problem.
The first 2 times eating at the Lot at Liberty Station were great. THIS TIME - just not good at all.
The chilaquiles were so disappointing -- all tortilla (chips? is seemed), hardly any chicken (for extra bucks), black beans = mush, etc., just hot sauce and chips!! both my husband and i ordered them and would never again! we don't mind paying money for good food, so it wasn't about cost until after we ate.
of 3 guests (and so sorry we took them there), 2 ordered the toast with i think spinach, egg, etc. on top. they were both very disappointed. very Blah! the chef should stop by The Parakeet Cafe in LJ and order anything on toast to compare!
our other guest ordered the burger and was pleased.
Oh, no. When things go wrong, they often go downhill from there. There was excitement about the Passover Dinner scheduled for both THE LOT locations...La Jolla and Liberty Station. I chose the Liberty Station location and reserved, and received a confirmation, for a 6:45pm on Friday, March 30. We arrived and were quite surprised when told that the Passover Dinner was only at the La Jolla location. The hostess expressed that she had just tried to call to alert us. We had not received a call and were not the only Passover diners that were caught off guard. We had used an Uber service for transportation and I was now in an embarrassing dilemma...Uber to La Jolla for a late seating, go home, or dine in the restaurant. We chose to die in the restaurant. Dinner and service was very nice in the restaurant; however, no on made any effort to apologize for the mix up. When I finally did see a manager at the end of the evening, he expressed surprise that no one had told him of the situation and did give us two movie tickets for a later date.
We went here with some friends to celebrate two birthdays and were disappointed in our overall experience. Although when we made the reservation we mentioned birthdays and we reminded the host when we arrived, but the server did not acknowledge the birthdays at all! We ordered a salad with roasted squash, the brussels sprouts, and the chicken tortilla soup, and the edamame. The roasted squash wasn't fully roasted - crunchy raw squash is not too enjoyable. There was a single little cube of chicken in the "chicken soup" and it was an expensive bowl of soup. The brussels sprouts were so drowned in syrup that I couldn't taste any vegetables in the dish, and we weren't fans of the seasonings on the edamame. The flavors didn't seem to work with the steamed edamame. The one dish we truly enjoyed was the guacamole, but I'd be surprised if they were able to mess that up. We live very close to the LOT and I will not be eating there again.
We were here at an odd morning hour, after breakfast and before lunch. It might be a lot louder with more people there. But this lovely place had about half of its glass walls opened, which has to help with noise. Set at a higher level looking out over one of Liberty Station’s showplace courtyards, its design was lovely, much better than it seemed from street level. Restaurants rarely have such comfortable upholstered chairs. The music was not intrusive. Abigail our server was sincerely interested; “How do you like that,” not “How is everything,” followed by a quick escape. Our choices were delicious and well above average in quality.
We were there for lunch for a family gathering since two nieces came in from out of town. We had reservations for 1:00, which isn't early for lunch but were told we couldn't order off of the lunch menu because lunch doesn't start until 2:00. That was disappointing. But we all enjoyed the food and made it work.
I've been there for dinner, for breakfast and now lunch and love the venue.
It would be nice to have a normal lunch hour for the lunch menu. I've never seen that before.
this is a fabulous place to either meet before a show or to just stop by for dinner like i did.
the vibe is sweet.
the people are great, and i don't say that easily.
the food was magnificent.
we split a dish and a salad which most places don't like to do and the presentation of each plate was magnificent. Greatly appreciated.
the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and the atmosphere.
I recommend this place to everyone who will be in that area.
The food and service were both good, we had crispy Calamari it was excellent, we also had Hanger Steak, the Shallots and pomme puree were excellent the steak was really good but not excellent.I had a Cadillac margarita that was also excellent.
Our server was good and friendly.
I think my biggest pet peeve is the 4% surcharge that they impose (I didn't notice it before getting the check) I don't support restaurants that charge a fee for a future increase in minimum wage. Does this mean all the Lot employees currenlty make minimum wage?
Sorry "The Lot" but I will skip in the future.
Food rates a 1 out of 10, pricey. Wish it was good I live down the street.
Service was very slow and food came out cold.
Not busy; however, service was seemingly rushed.
The Lot was amazing. The staff was very attentive and personable, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is very warm and classy, and the seating was comfortable. The view through the glass walls and windows was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion or for an excellent meal before or after attending a film at the adjoined theater.
A potentially excellent restaurant hobbled by a molasses-slow kitchen. The restaurant venue is impressive; a large glass box perched high above the street, with an adjoining luxury theater that also serves food. Therein lies the problem. We have on several occasions waited more than 30 minutes between courses for our food to be served. Each time we were told that the delay was because the kitchen got slammed with a number of orders from the theater. That is not an acceptable excuse; it just means that the kitchen is not adequately staffed to handle both the restaurant and theater at the same time. An otherwise enjoyable dining experience is ruined by the excessive delays.
I said that I would recommend The Lot to a friend (because it is generally worth going), but I feel that I need to caveat that by saying the value leaves a something to be desired. Our server was very friendly and generally attentive (though he left us along a few times, forcing his manager to step in), and most of the food was quite good. However, there appears to be a large disconnect between the servers and the kitchen, as most of our orders did not come out right. The manager stepped in and fixed the issues, but caveat emptor. The cocktails are also pretty spendy for what you get. I felt like I was in Vegas or something. While the juices were apparently freshly squeezed, it was a really weak refreshment that might as well have been a $14 glass of straight OJ. While I dig that this place is in my neighborhood and the food is generally great, they could do SO MUCH more with what they have, from providing a better value to actually bringing out the right order. I was also surprised that for a pretty sweet brunch spot, they didn't have any kind of mimosa deal or carry grapefruit juice. Not a deal breaker for sure, but I feel like that's an option they should consider.
Food was amazing. Service was terrible. We waited forever to get our food. I had to ask for my salad twice after we had received our meals. We’ll be back for the food and ambience. Hopefully it was just an off service day.
