   The food was poor. They do not sell any beer. This was our first and last time to eat there.

   The building itself is charming, and might be worth a repeat visit just for that. This said: 1) service was a bit abrupt, and not very polished. I really expected better for a bill for two that came to over $100. 2) while the pasta/mushroom dish was excellent, the quail/bacon was drowned/lost in a spicy sauce, and the pork osso bucco was bland. Disappointing, again, especially for the price. 3) we were not offered dessert or coffee; is this standard? We felt we were being rushed to the door so you could turn the table. Again, might return, might not; would probably not recommend. Sorry. A disappointment.

   I don’t typically give five stars to anything. But this is a true gem in Highlands, NC. The building is truly an old log cabin. It has a great, quiet ambiance. You feel like you’re in the mountains. The wine list is extremely reasonable with the most expensive bottle coming in at $110. Entrees are reasonable and include all the typical fare: tenderloin, a couple fish dishes, sone pastas. Something for everyone. This isn’t a super fancy and snooty place. It’s a relaxed, mountain atmosphere with waiters who chat with you like you’re an old friend. It’s my new fav restaurant in Highlands.

   Pretty good food but disappointed that you couldn't get a mixed drink. They said they were expecting to get their liquor license soon.
