Perhaps the best duck I’ve ever had. Perfect in every way. Quite expensive but not really a surprise. Luxurious.
Finally got my siblings together for a nice sunset dinner. Unfortunately it rained but dinner was fantastic. Food and service was top notch.
The Pork Belly en Crôute wasn't only worth dying for, but could be worth killing for. I wouldn't suggest you doing this with your date though (that would contradict your reason for being there with this person). Instead, plan on taking out a neighboring table.
All kidding aside, the food here isn't just well-presented. It tastes as good as it looks. This says much considering the effort put into their minimalist but effective presentations.
The ambiance was fantastic. This was in part to good parenting of our table neighbors, which was obvious by how well-behaved the children were. If your kids act like spoiled neanderthal prepubescents, then please don't bring them here. PLEASE! This place doesn't need to be ruined by something the staff here isn't responsible for.
Speaking of, the staff is what really made this place shine. The busboy, Juan, had more etiquette, food knowledge and professionalism than most servers and hostesses of other restaurants I've visited. Our waiter Jeff was superb for all the same reasons. As was the rest of the staff.
My only bad thing would be about the hostess to locate our reservation when we arrived - they had an attitude and were not friendly at all.
My husband and I have been to the Loft before; we like to go on special occasions. This time, we were celebrating our 10year anniversary! It’s been rated the Montage’s 2nd best restaurant, but we’d rate it 1st!
The whole restaurant looks over the ocean, and if you plan it right, it’s the best spot to catch the sunset. I’ve never been when it’s “busy”. In my experience it’s quite quiet. This last time it got a bit noisy right before we left, but only because a large group had arrived to celebrate something.
The food is reasonably priced, for an upscale restaurant in Laguna. It’s one of those menus that doesn’t seem impressive, but totally “Wow”s you when you are served and eat it. The bread basket is actually one of my favorite things, which of course, isn’t really something you go to a restaurant for, but this one is awesome. The scallops, sea bass, and New York are great. The salad and soups are delicious. The vegetable sides are a must; especially the brussel sprouts! The dessert isn’t my favorite, but doesn’t disappoint.
The service is impeccable! This time we had a young man named Jesse. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and specials, and was super attentive to our needs. He even payed for our Parking, so nice! Every time we’ve come we’ve had such amazing service. You can tell they pride themselves in that.
All around this is an amazing restaurant and I highly recommend it!!
Service was very slow for some reason, had to wait probably 30min or so before we could order. It got better after that.
Excellent food , service & view. Love it here and look forward to the next time. Thank you!
Magnificent service! Sean and Roccio’s attention to our table was over the top. The food was superb, the ambiance very nice although a little noisy.
Very much on our top ten in coastal Orange County.
I did not know that there is a renovation going on. So we sat at a more casual area. There food was not what I should have paid for. Maybe I will go back when the remodel is finished. It was very unprofessional that time. The server was great and did his best. The valet service was up to the great standards I'm accustomed to.
The Montage is remodeling so the access to the restaurant was a bit awkward. It also had stairs as the only access point for a person with a walker - challenging even if it is two steps. They could have build a ramp to make it for easy access for all. The Duck Main course - could have been a lot tastier and the server could have asked how I liked it. Mine arrived rare and gamey. Not a good combination but my dogs liked it. Entree price about $50 felt high but the service standards and the view are outstanding. We left at about 8pm and the Loft was very loud with a large party. Not intimate or quiet dining. It was also drafty and cold. Some of their ocean front windows were stuck open.
We enjoyed everything about our brunch. Everyone got something different and loved it. Can’t beat the view. Excellent service too!
My wife and I had such a great time celebrating a belated Valentine's day at our recent trip to the Loft. The staff there was so incredibly kind, professional and gracious; they made our experience even better. We offered to move tables (we were a couple at a table of four) when we saw the waiters trying to accommodate all the parties that were coming in, and the staff were so sweet and genuine in expressing their gratitude. We don't get to dine out at places like this often, but we definitely can't wait for the opportunity to come back and experience the INCREDIBLE food again. The bartenders here also make a great Old-Fashioned, which is my go-to drink. I don't often find a place where they make it right, but they definitely do at the Loft. Thank you all again for the great experience and we hope to be back soon!
amazing fine food however very pricey (our Charcuterie was 47.00 for very small portions)
We all love the place, the food, the service. The servers treat us a friends.
Our experience with the staff and to the food was really lovely. Also, Chris on the music was just phenomenal.
Food and view are amazing. The noise level from the bar onto the patio where we were having our romantic Valentines experience was so loud we could barely speak and hear one another. The staff tried Ti jeep the doors closed once they noticed but it was constantly left open and gave the feeling of being in a sports bar, not a 5 star dining experience. The management should give some thought to this!
Wonderful service from Stephen. Pork shoulder with hominy baked in chili verde!
Food and views are beautiful. Service is terribly disappointing. We waited for about 25 minutes before anyone took our drink order. I should have realized at this point that the service was bad - but I like to give the benefit of doubt.
We were on a mother/daughter double date, and we have a tradition where we get virgin drinks (fun fancy drinks) that are overly garnished. So, like 1000 times before, I ask the waiter to put garnishes on our two virgin piña colada, mango smoothie and berry smooth. First - ZERO GARNISHES. I mean, how easy is it to throw a little strawberry on the glass to make our day?
I never mentioned the error. What bothered me, is that neither did the waiter. He was no more concerned with his failure to do a simple task, than he was to provide any other excellent service.
Oh, and in case you fail to read the details of the "smoothies," like we did, they are blended grass, kale, and other excellent healthy choices - there is a time for everything. Brunch and workout smoothies are not on the same clock for me.
I expected more from the Montage.
Was really excited to have dinner with a view of the ocean. Other than the breadbasket, the meal was unremarkable. The breadbasket is great--lots of choices that all taste great. Started with oysters, which were shucked abysmally. More than half of them had shell chunks that were unpleasant to find in your mouth, and they were very tiny oysters. The scallop-greens-bacon entree was nice, large scallops cooked properly. The sea bass, which isn't the thickest fish to begin with, was the thinnest piece, over cooked and dry. The wine steward offered a nice, off-menu chablis. Otherwise, service was acceptable, albeit indifferent. Ambiance issue--the heaters outside emit a high pitch noise. It didn't bother me much--I wanted to be warm--but it bothered others outside, who kept asking for heaters to be turned off. So I was freezing cold. Thank goodness for a view and bread. Unfortunately, I would not return based on this experience.
Amazing view, great food and service. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to have called memorable night out, no matter the occasion.
Service was terrible. Food was great.
Overpriced and very limited menu. Bad service. Restaurant and hotel was dated. Doesn’t compare to Monarch Beach Resort - go there instead.
We were very disappointed with our experience at The Loft restaurant in The Montage. We have been going to that restaurant for years - but last night it appears things have changed. We were offered to select a wine from the wine list of their other more formal restaurant. Then they told us they only had one copy of that wine list in the restaurant and it was in use by another guest at the moment. 20 minutes later the wine list was brought to us. We had to wait another 20 minutes to have the wine brought to our table. We were there over 45 minutes before our order was taken. I don’t know if there has been a change in the management of the restaurant - but things were noticeably different. Such a shame. It will be awhile before we ever go back.
Excellent service. The staff is well trained thoroughly by Montage. They are knowledgeable, efficient, and guided by a sense of pride that is unmatched.
We had a wonderful evening understanding The Loft was also the temporary Lobby Bar.
Not to be missed experience. Unparalleled setting, exquisite service, and perfectly prepared dishes.
My daughter is on a special diet and both our server and the chef were unbelievably helpful and cooperative in making her a delicious meal. Thank you again!
Excellent food & service! Celebrating a birthday & they thoughtfully brought a nice "treat" with candle as a surprise at the end of our meal. Never felt rushed & were there about three hours.
GREAT MEALS HAD HERE..BOTH BREAKFAST(ONE DAY BEST HASH BROWNS EVER) AND AWESOME DINNER..CRABCAKE(BEST EVER)..KIDS MEALS THE BEST TOO..
THANKS..FIVE VISITS IN THREE DAYS AT THE MONTAGE...GREAT AND FRIENDLY STAFF TOO!!!THANKS FOR A GREAT FEW DAYS..BACK TO CHICAGO AREA
Loved it definitely will be going back there. Great for a date night with your partner. Great scenic views, definitely romantic, and exceptionally well ambience
Obviously a beautiful setting and resort. Food and service were excellent but definitely pricey. If it's a special occasion or you're not concerned about the price, great place.
For a business luncheon in Laguna Beach you can't beat the Montage because it puts everyone in a great mood. The food is good and the service very attentive, as a dining experience it's almost idyllic
We made reservations at The Loft for brunch on New Year's Day. Had my mother visiting. She loves brunch, and so I wanted to take her to a nice place. The meal was very disappointing. Although we had reservations, it took about 10 minutes to be seated. We had requested a view table, but was seated at a high-traffic table with no clear view of the beach/water. The carpet and table was dirty. Of the four meals we ordered, three arrived prepared wrong. It took about 10 minutes before our waitress came to check on us. She had two of the meals remade, which took about ten more minutes. My coffee was refilled once, although I would have liked more. It was served with no sugar, so I had to ask for it. I ordered a specialty fruit juice, but they were out of it. It took another 10-15 minutes to receive the bill..the full price bill ($135.00)..and no apology. The manager did stop by the table to apologize, and did not proactively try to compensate us for the numerous errors. My daughter said she would have had a better breakfast at Starbucks. I would not recommend this restaurant, nor do I ever plan to go back. For such a high-end hotel (The Montage), the management should be embarrassed by the quality and service provided.
My Birthday on New Years Eve.
Food not prepared or cooked particularly well.
Ingredients missing and temperatures off.
Very expensive. But service was excellent.
We have eaten at The Loft a number of times in the past, but in the last year there has been a drop in food quality from the last experience (and also, it seems, an increase in prices). Food was only OK. Two different orders of "over-easy" eggs came out very over-cooked. The Huevos Rancheros were seriously lacking flavor--and they had no ranchero sauce. The view, however, is spectacular and the service is always quite nice--but we will probably wait some time before we dine there again.
Food and service are amazing, the outdoor dining was perfect. Definitely will come back.
So I must say this has been then best experience for myself and my group. It was my best friend 30th Birthday, we were expecting a group of 12 and sadly we were left with a group of 5. You all were so gracious to redo the table for us! Our waiter was beyond AMAZING!! Brandon you are absolutely wonderful! You took care of us with not only grace, but with knowledge of the menu! You recommend a mock tail for my friend and you were on POINT with it! You were such a delight and we will be coming back again and again because of you Brandon! The setting, the atmosphere, the service, the location was all just perfect! Thank you all again!!!
Excellent dining experience. Great food. Excellent service.
we usually love it here. We came here Christmas evening.
1. unlike other restaurants, there was no warning of a prix fix menu before arriving
2. the menu, unlike their normal menu was uninspired, and out of a total of six different courses, we ranked two up to par, 3 totally uninspired including both deserts , and one just okay.
3. the service was slow as well.
Having said the above, normally the food is impeccable and so is the service, so we'll try on a non-holiday and see what happens
