We did not expect to be served a breakfast menu at lunchtime at 12:00 pm. Service was frustratingly slow, we had to look for our server every time, felt like he deserted us or was overly committed? We’ve dined at the Loft many times before and never had such a disappointing experience. Don’t know what changed?
Great view and loved the ambience of the restaurant. The staff was kind and friendly. Service was great! However, the food wasn't the best. It wasn't bad it just fell far below my expectations. My husband and I shared a steak and all we could taste was the sauce. It was drenched in sauce so you couldn't even taste the steak and the same with our crispy brussell sprouts, all you could taste was sauce. Our Caesar salad and charcuterie board were the stars in our dining experience which is sad because the steak should've been. Far overpriced for the quality!
Service and ambiance were impeccable as usual. We arrived early and had mimosas in the lobby bar (along with delicious complimentary bar snacks) and enjoyed the breathtaking views before heading to The Loft for a birthday breakfast. Menu is not extensive but everything is an upgraded version of itself. Best asparagus I’ve had - cooked and seasoned perfectly. Perfect eggs, luxurious Hollandaise, fat slices of Canadian bacon that, again, were the best slices of Canadian bacon I’ve eaten. You can’t choose a better place for a special occasion. Everything about the experience makes you feel special.
Excellent food and service with a beautiful coastal view overlooking South Laguna Beach. Table was set with delicious basket of assorted fresh breads and soft butter... Very good. Wife and I split a Caesar Salad, prepared with light dressing just as we requested. .. Excellent. Her Sea Bass was perfectly cooked and my Japanese Sea Scallops, although only four in total, were perhaps the best I've ever had... sweet, meaty and succulent. The complimentary Wedding Anniversary cake was a nice touch for dessert. Only problem I had with meal was the $35 corkage fee. Many restaurants these days waive the fee, particularly if it's a special occasion, or at most charge $20. Fee to me was excessive, but overall dining experience was wonderful.
This has to be one of the most spectacular settings on the California coast! We were lucky to be there on a gorgeous, clear day and our outdoor table was wonderful. Service was great and we all enjoyed our lunch. I would love to see the chef come up with a more extensive lunch menu, but we all left happy and satisfied. If you are not staying at the hotel, I recommend that you take a stroll along the lovely coastline in front of the property.
The occasion was a business lunch with a colleague from Australia. We arrived on time and had to wait to be seated. We were seated and the placemat in front of me was dirty. Our oysters on the half shell were served without proper cutlery. This isn't normal. Disappointing.
We did not enjoy our experience. Although we loved the view, the cocktails in the bar were truly awful. Literally, the worst cocktails we had ever tasted. The food was good, but, given the exorbitant prices, it should have been transcendent. The waiter tried to push wines on us that were not on the menu and far above our price point and then treated us with condescension when we chose one from the menu. Screaming children throughout dinner. Finally, we were surprised at the end of the evening with a $15 valet parking fee, which no one had mentioned to us when we left the car or when we were dining. An expensive evening that left a bad taste in our mouths.
If you love a great restaurant with gorgeous views, then I highly recommend the Loft. I took my mom here for lunch and it was a wonderful experience. The food is very good and excellent service from Catherine, Brooke and the entire staff. If you have time before or after your meal, be sure to take a walk down to the beach.
The loft is well located on the coast and you may see the ocean and the pool with all the people around taking the sun. This use to be a very select place for the wealthy crowd of Orange county, it is now quiet different, you will see people in shorts, dirty T-shirt and flip flop from all social origin. The restaurant has adjusted to that. The food is similar to the one you can see on the food channel show "Diners, drive-ins and dives", so not bad at all just not targeted at the foodies any longer. The service remains impeccable and the water is still Badoit, the best on this planet. However, I cannot recommend this place due to the unfavorable ratio price /quality, there are much better place in similar settings for similar price nowadays nearby.
Beautiful venue BUT full of screaming, unruly children who were totally out of control. We paid a pretty penny for this experience and were very disappointed that there was no control exercised to consider the experience for the other diners. Seems the parents would have been asked to remove the children, take them outside, etc. for the sake of those of us trying to enjoy our time. I felt bad for the servers as they were left to clean up food thrown on the floor, etc. by undisciplined children.
The Loft has become a must on our annual trips to OC. While the food is a little pricey, it is well worth it - excellent atmosphere, great service, great food. Be sure to go early so you can walk the beach below the pool around sunset; the waves are lit at night and it's very romantic.
Celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary at the Loft. Sat on the outdoor patio and the weather was perfect. Food is amazing and portions are good sized. We could have order one appetizer and shared and still had plenty of food. The food was also very high-quality. Overall, great, great experience with the evening sunset, food and outstanding service. Exceptional choice for any occasion.
Sommelier, Michelle and Server, David, along with the busboy, were excellent. All were attentive, professional and helpful.
In addition, the chef brought extra courses for us to try. The gazpacho and pasta were wonderful!!! With so much food and wine we had to take home leftovers! The mango dessert was heavenly!
Definitely a memorable anniversary! We'll be back!
