Featuring a full-service bar with large screen televisions, an array of drinks can be enjoyed with or after dinner, including cocktails, wines and both draft and bottled beers.
romaine, pecorino, croutons, creamy dressing
san marzano tomato, whole milk mozzarella, fresh linguini, shaved parmesan reggiano
Great dinner, seared haddock, steak tips and Chicken Milanese were all xcellent, apps pork dumplings and butternut squash soup were also excellent. Drinks and service great .
Great place to meet up with friends. Bar can get a little loud though, so can make it hard to hear your conversation, even at tables outside bar area.
Service was very slow
Appetizers came 10 minutes before our drink order arrived. Dumplings were very dry
We both ordered the chef special and the sauce was completely unseasoned
Very disappointed as we have been before and had a very satisfactory experience
Service was great. Obviously busy and a bit overstretched but all went well.
Meal was good. Music too loud!
Would be nice to have bread.
The space is beautiful, the server was very good the food was utterly forgettable. Seven of us and no one thought their meal was good. The brussels sprouts were the best thing any of us had, and the burger is solid but steer away from the Korean tacos (meh) and the bowls which sound great in theory but are one note. We paid a lot for a really mediocre experience. Go elsewhere.
Stopped in to The Local between my son’s soccer game and my daughter’s swim meet. Wanted to grab something to eat. All three of us ordered various brunch items and it was exceptional. My daughter had the bacon/cheese omelette. Wouldn’t stop raving about how good it was and how the home fries were the best she’s ever had. My son had chocolate chip pancakes and loved them (also gave a shoutout to the home fries) and I got the short rib hash and eggs skillet. The short ribs were amazing. Go for brunch. Not the biggest brunch menu but what they do have is A+. You won’t be disappointed.
Great cocktails and good food. Service is usually very good. Great location.
Sat outside for lunch on a warm autumn day. Started with Truffle Fries (addictive) and ordered the Blackened Tuna appetizer as an entree. Lightly seasoned fresh tuna on a bed of farro grains with arugula, avocado bits, and a roasted tomato. Very generous portion and delicious flavor.
Mediocre at best. Fish was over cooked
Room is very dark. Service was fine. Prices too high for what we were served.
Overall very pleasant, however it was so dark at our table it was difficult to see our food.
Please rethink your choice of music. It made conversation difficult, especially when the restaurant was busy.
I wish there was brunch available but the food and service were excellent as always
Multiple problems with orders not right. Had to send back tuna because it was bad. Had to make several requests two or three times and even then not honored. Service uneven. Seems like every other visit here is like this one. Management does not appear to care.
Our dinner was very pleasant. The booth was very private and the noise level was minimal. I was pleased that there were choices for my guest who is vegan.
Ribs were horrible and salmon was significantly over cooked.
Great selection on menu. Food is consistently very good.
Returned to indoor dining at the Local in Wayland for the first time in well over a year. It was nice to see the restaurant busy and we enjoyed our food. Wait staff was on top of things...maybe more people on staff than a couple of months ago when we were there, outdoors. Our orders came out quickly which was also not the case a couple of months ago. Seems almost back to normal!
The Local in Wayland NEVER disappoints! The food, the people, the value..everything is wonderful!
Realize hiring is tough right now but please only take as many reservations as you can handle. People in the outside seating started leaving as no service in +20 min. Could result in damage to your reputation. Also please train your new hires. One of our servers was scratching food residue of a side plate with his finger nails and gave it to us afterwards. Gross!
The local in Wayland has a staffing issue as far as I can tell. I waited 25 minutes after being seated and no one came to take drink orders. Crickets. The table behind me was also annoyed trying to get service. I took my business else where. Yes, I actually had to leave and let greeter know who seated us as a courtesy. I will give the Local another try in six months maybe.
service was terrible (very slow)
luckily other staff came to help
too about 30 mins just to get water poured and 45 mins to get drinks
understand they were understaffed (not their fault) but our server was just not on her game and couldn't get things right.
We changed from meal to just apps and server was very cool about it. Fried Brussels sprouts possibly best I’ve ever had!!
Dining out doors is great
Try the Brussels sprouts and healthy salad bowl
Clearly short-staffed. Took a long time to be greeted - had to ask the host if we had a server. Lots of uncleared dishes on empty tables, food/trash on the ground. Food was decent. Beer selection good. Our server was good once we had one.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Lovely patio with plenty of room between tables
Interesting small plates
Waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. Details were missed: We had to go get a soup spoon from the bar; we asked for a bottle of hot sauce twice which never arrived; and then our server mixed up our bill with another table and charged their meal on our card (I still don’t know if we were charged correctly because the slip didn’t have our itemized order, but we were running late so I paid just to get out of there).
Food was okay because it’s hard to mess up two salads and chips with salsa. However the so-called crispy Brussel sprouts were not at all and weren’t really edible. We left the plate of that full.
I’ve eaten here often with good experience but today was poor.
The Local is always a good staple for dinner as the food and service are typically good. The vibe is low-key and the pace is relaxed, which is always a plus. I do wish the short ribs, mashed potatoes and beans had a bit more flavor to them.
Nice and easy setting, nice draft beer selection, good environment suitable for both business meetings and casual gatherings. Unassuming, yet pretty elegant and stylish. High-class decorations.
Disappointed in temperature of food. Broccoli was noted on menu as sautéed when in fact was steamed. Initial delivery of food had cold broccoli. Replacement broccoli arrived and was cold as well.
My lunch mate ordered a 19 dollar "crock" of seafood chowder, presuming it would be a bowl. It was a small cup with little detectable fish. When she asked the server for bread because she thought her meal would be larger, she was told there wasn't any bread. Our server never asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert following lunch. My Caesar salad with shrimp was fine. We were able to sit and chat, which we appreciated, but the whole experience was only fair.
Great food & service. Outside dining was great, too
one of the worst dining experiences I can remember....the service was awful only outdone by the the food...the chicken I had could hardly be cut with a knife. It came out cold, The meal seemed like it had been sitting around for days and then sent out to be served !!!!
The food was very good but I thought they got stuck on the $17.95 number. Everything on the menu seemed to be the same price. I thought it was a bit pricey for the food you got BUT the waitstaff was nice and the food was good.
I thought this place was great for lunch. The cocktails were very good and imagitive
Took forever to get the drinks and food
The food and service were outstanding! Lots of mosquitoes outside though, I’m not sure if there is a way to curb that with plants, lighting or other deterrent.
Good food and service, a reliable choice. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
I took my son to The Local to celebrate his birthday. We were seated indoors (our preference), but right next to a door that opened to the patio. Before we even ordered, we moved to another table that was out of the flight path. The tables were so close that it was hard to sit down. Once seated however, everything was good. Our waiter was very attentive initially, but after we placed our orders it was a long time before we were served our bar drinks, and our food came almost immediately afterwards. The restaurant wasn't busy, so it was hard to understand why it took so long to get our drinks. Our waiter came back several times, even asked if we wanted desert while we were still finishing our dinner, but then went missing when it was time to pay the check. The food was great, but our experience would have been better if our waiter had been more consistent in his attention to us.
Met a client there for lunch. Waitstaff was attentive and professional. The salads were excellent. Client said the short ribs are fantastic!
