Our 4th or 5th time at the LIttle Gem and it just gets better & better. Food & service were outstanding and it has become our favorite restaurant in Oak Park. We just relocated to a new apartment building and are now a 5-minute walk away. We'll be back often!
The food was superb! Nice atmosphere. We will definitely go to The Little Gem again!
I was actually Impress with everything, the place was nice and cozy. The food was awesome they start us of with garlic bread which I would say was awesome I couldn't stop eating it, then we had the calamari for appetizer, which is also awesome it was fresh, and for my entree I end up with the Lamb Chops. The lamb chops was cut medallion style, I ask the server she said "she thinks it comes in four", but it came with two. The way they marinate the lamb chops is good even the vegetables that came with it was awesome, i just wish for that they would add a little bit more meat, but our overall experience with the restaurant was excellent. It is actually a good place for date night.
We had brunch. Food was excellent. Server was a lovely young man who did a great job. The only down side was the decaf coffee was extremely weak. They brewed a new pot for us which was a little stronger. Points for effort though. Will go again.
Had a lovely evening celebrating girlfriend’s birthday. Cozy, inviting, atmosphere, excellent food, amiable staff.
Food and drinks were great, loved the classic vibe, and this is one place where you can have a conversation and be heard without a bunch of background noise or bad music. Will be back!
Wonderful dinner. Quality of the meal always great!
My friends celebrated my birthday with brunch at this charming and delightful cafe. They had us at the $5 bloody mary special but then went on to spoil us with perfectly cooked eggs Benedict and one of the best French toast I’ve ever had. Service was terrific. We’ll be back for one of their evening specials!
Food was so delicious and atmosphere was fabulous I came here for my 1 year anniversary and absolutely love it.
The food was actually excellent. Service was great… everything worked!
Great spot - it's a little noisy - small space - lots of people talking - but great food
Service was excellent, like the look an decor. food was just average. Saying the noise level is"energetic" is being extremely kind. The acoustics are so bad that it virtually impossible to have a conversation with the person across the table from you. Servers actually had to speak to us individually to explain specials etc. Do not plan on ever returning.
The sea bass was delicious, the martinis were divine, big portions, great warm crusty bread, excellent service. This place is a little gem. I'll be back.
Food was good but took quite a while to come up. Not the place to go if you are in a rush. I enjoyed the Royal Pimm's drink, which was reasonably priced at $10.
The wait staff were fantastic ! The food was good and the ambiance was lovely. A perfect Sunday evening birthday celebration.
We have been here enough to give it a proper rating now. About 4 times. Each time we left overall happy. The staff is good, the food tastes great and the prices are fair. Nothing really wows us like crazy but we definitely like Little Gem and will continue going there.
Food was delicious. We had the salmon, short ribs, seasonal veggies, truffle fries and brussel sprouts. Each bite was as good heavenly. I don't live in the area but if I did, I would make this a "regular' spot. Cozy, charming, excellent service.
The food and service were good, but nothing outstanding. I was looking at the menu and it seems fairly expensive, but they do have killer specials that greatly justified the experience.
A lovely neighborhood restaurant. Happy hour to full on dining, it's a fine place to be.
Decided to stop in for brunch with my best friend. 6 mimosas later..... lol
We started with the beet salad and then I had the quiche and she had eggs! Dolly took great care of us , as usual!!!!! Love my neighborhood “LittleGem”!
Truly a little gem!
I liked my dish (filet) but as far as vegan options for my dining companion, need more selection
Sunday brunch for 6. There were no other customers when we arrived. Food was excellent. Service was not. Waitress brought three entrees at once, including two orders of quiche. The other three had to wait ten minutes for food, one of which was also quiche. Hour and a half....
Excellent Seafood Risotto, will visit again
The food was good but a little oily. My husband's dish was mostly filler without much seafood. Beautiful place.
So we did the Date Night for Two, which is an amazing deal. Appetizer, salad, and dinner - and a bottle of wine for $75. That is unbelievable, and worth it. Food is great. The ambiance is top notch. We sat at the bar, which is a cozy space. Kim, the bartender, is personable and know her stuff. She also served us. She is spectacular.
Noise level only relevant when live music playing. Never disappointed with anything we've ever ordered here. Great variety and preparation. Interesting cocktail offerings too.
Quaint, outstanding servers Biana and Chris, and the boneless ribs dinner plate was fabulous! Thank u!
Good food and ambiance!!!
This is truly a quite, little gem in Oak Park! Brunch was really great!
We love coming to this restaurant and it continues to be one of our favorites in OP. The wine selection is limited but never disapoints. Not a large menu but what is there is satisfying and always good.
Very poor experience - will not be back.
We love the atmosphere. The service is good - even though they have to repeat what they say multiple times and ask you to repeat yourself because they cannot hear you because it is SO LOUD inside. It is a shame. Such a lovely place. We keep giving it "another try." Maybe 5 or 6 times over the last 18 months. No more. With the lovely painted tin ceiling, the lovely brick walls, the wood floor and the glass along one side, there is no place for the sound to be absorbed. A couple chatty tables was hard. Then, the place filled up. Awful. Could not hear - shouting to hear the person across the table from you at times. Even the wait staff said it continues to be an issue. I have been in when they have live music (lovely violins), but, playing regularly (not loudly), made it impossible to have a conversation WHY DOESN'T THE OWNER ADD SOUND ABSORBING TILES OR ART? I have two other friends who now refuse to go back. I'm done. IF they change, I will enjoy it. Hard to relax and enjoy a meal when it is so very loud. Unacceptable. And I really like the place. We spend a lot of money dining out and will not ruin an evening again.
I enjoyed dinner with my wife. The food was delicious and well made. However, it took them 30 minutes to get our entrees on the table. There were several other tables that arrived after us and ordered after us that received their entrees well before we did. We were given free glasses of wine but it still left a bad taste in our mouths that it took so long to get our meals. Our appetizer came out pretty fast but the entree did not. Unappreciated and we will probably opt not to return because of such.
Good soup and salad. Pleasant server. Nice atmosphere.
Quaint ,serving oustanding vegetabke quiche, served by exceptionally efficient and welcoming, Bianca. Thankyou !
The food was excellent and service very good though the server seemed somewhat inexperienced. May be loud if the restaurant was full. Tables doe two are too close toghter.
Meals were well prepared with flavor (veggie risotto and seafood risotto). Pleasant server was attentive and responsive to our requests with a smile .
Much needed neighborhood restaurant with excellent menu in Oak Park. The name says it all - a little gem for quiet conversation, easy access, in rain or shine. Service is unobtrusive and professional. Menu creative and delicious with an eye toward healthy food.
