The Little Door Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been meaning to have dinner here. It was the first time my partner and I have gone, we specifically came for our anniversary. I made a reservation, but was a few minutes late. So we had to wait another 30 minutes to get a table. We sat and was serviced right away. Our waiter was extremely kind, and very bubbly. I would definitely like to have him as our server next time. I ordered The chefs choice along with the margarita Granada, and my partner had the rib eye and the cucumber cocktail. We were very satisfied with our beverages and highly recommend. The rib eye was one of the most satisfying steaks we’ve had, also highly recommend. After we were finished we had the coconut cheesecake that said happy anniversary and was congratulated by our server. Our overall experience was amazing. We will surely be back.
Great find! Post-Pantages theatre dinner (with drinks next door first), quiet and lovely surroundings with just enough music to set the mood, friendly and attentive service - and the food was so good! So good, in fact, that we ordered and ate too much. This will be on our list of special occasion spots in the future!
I am afraid this did not meet our expectations. It was recommended by a friend who dines out often & has good taste. We were seated at a small cafe table for two & there were three of us. It was too cold on the patio & we asked to be seated inside in a booth as I have a bad back, the booth was next to the kitchen door, never a good choice. My steak was very fatty & was $55.00, we were even charged for a small basket of plain bread. The baby carrots were completely raw, I was very disappointed, the only thing I liked was my augratin potatoes. What this experience taught me is where I have been dining is where I should continue to dine. The Parkway Grill in Pasadena would have been a much better choice for our anniversary dinner, it has a more sophisticated atmosphere & the food is a much higher quality! Live & Learn!
Lovely location and vibe, although keep in mind that you are in the middle of a live "garden", with the occasional expected bug/spider. We were asked to wait at the bar or Next Little Door (brasserie next door) as there were no tables available at our reservation time (9pm). Sat at approximately 9:30, and although we didn't feel rushed, our server was mentally at the "end" of their night, and not at a level I would have expected for the reputation and cost. Server didn't really know the wine list well, and recommended a wine that really tasted nothing like what we requested. Still, food was quite good! The morel/Brussels Sprouts dish was fantastic, fois gras pastry (not pate) also lovely. The cheese and charcuterie was overpriced for the amount given, in my opinion and had no "sweet" element (honey, fig jam, quince, whatever), and had a LOT of arugula on the board to make it look more full.
We would likely go back, and maybe sit at the bar, just for the atmosphere. And definitely intend to spend an actual evening at the brasserie...the dessert list there looked amazing!
Rack of lamb tasted very bitter and smoky. Returned dish and had the same dish re-ordered with really no improvement from the first serving. The crème bruleé was basically a dish of cooked cream of poor consistency and no taste, and was served with a stale cookie which fell apart when I picked it up for the plate. Previously dined at this restaurant during the summer and was blown away by the delicious meal which we had, however, this last time was truly disappointed. Seems like the restaurant is trying to skimp on good ingredients. Was charged four dollars for a little basket of bread. What kind of French restaurant is this?
Had reservations at 9:30 we had to wait till 10:10 to get seated! Food was descent but over priced. Atmosphere is very nice I got the lamb chop and only ate half of it told the guy to bag it. Wake up to eat it and it was never bagged for me just my girlfriends cous cous was. Now that sucks!
I found this restaurant from a book and read the yelp reviews and decided it was a winner. I cannot say enough about the ambience. It is great for a romantic dinner. The only thing I would change would be classic music, decrease noise environment, and tables space further apart from each other. The service was really good. I had the steak, it was undercooked for my taste, but it is better to be undercooked than overcooked. My date had the lamb, he really enjoyed it. We started with the house bread, it was pretty good. We had the duck for appetizer, we didn't really enjoy it. We had chocolate cake for desert. OMG, the cake was so tasty. I would come back and I recommend this restaurant.
Little Door just hits on all cylinders for me and my tastes. Creative delicious food, service that is not too pushy and not too aloof, lighting, acoustics, and music selection/level are unobtrusive and pleasant. It's the kind of place where 3 hours can pass and I feel like I want to stay for 3 more.
We had a nice dinner at Little Door for our 5th anniversary. Although the restaurant tends to pop up in searches for “French” food, the menu is more Mediterranean. I had an excellent rack of lamb, while my wife had the scallops. Great ambiance, and the place was packed on a Friday night. Very enjoyable dinner, would go back again.
I can see why this restaurant is famous for its ambiance, as it is very quaint and romantic. However, the service feels rushed which I don't appreciated when I'm paying well over $150 for 2 people. We were seated in a section that was extremely tight with tables so close together that I felt uncomfortable having a conversation because I felt like the people next to us could hear everything. Our server was foreign and seemed very pretentious, but maybe it was a cultural thing. Or maybe it's a LA thing.
The food was great and worth the price.
just give it a try and you won't regret it, the food is very tasty, the drinks were perfectly balanced, the staff really friendly, but what i loved the most is that it looks like a hole in the wall but once you get in it feels like it is another country, the lighting and the ambient were perfect, it was our anniversary and my wife loved it.
I LOVED this restaurant. It was our seven year wedding anniversary and it was the perfect date! So romantic with an amazing ambiance. I loved the menu and everything we ordered was delicious! The service was excellent and the price was very adequate to what we received for it. Very Happy!!
