What a perfect date night! If you aren't paying attention, you will walk right past the entrance to The Little Door. Once inside, you are transported to a gorgeous Mediterranean style court yard. Lights twinkle above your head as you walk to your table. We were there for dineLA so we ordered off the prefix menu. Our waitress was lovely and helped us select a bottle of wine to go with our meal (lamb). The food was delicious. I had brussel sprouts to start, lamb for the meal and coconut cheesecake for dessert. While the food was very good, go for the atmosphere. It's a wonderful place for a special occasion or a romantic evening out. My one complaint was that it was quite loud and took away from part of the vibe. I would absolutely recommend to friends and plan to visit again!
Amazing food and service. A must for any couple
we couldn’t have been happier with our dinner !
we were welcomed with warmth, changing table was not a problem,
and the food was very very delicious, refined, inventive, light, extremely
well prepared ( we also tasted what was in each other’s plate)
the loud good music was not overwhelming, but an incentive
for animated conversation
the waiters were just adorable (and french !)
we’ll be back, we thank the cook, the crew, everyone !
as a matter of fact, it was even better than the first time we came
(two years ago)
I love the romantic environment and great food
The food was excellent. My wife and I did the DineLA menu so the value was great. The regular menu is a little pricey for what you'd get. Definitely an interesting scene on the inside. You would never know that so much space existed behind the non-descript outside door. While the scene was exciting (fun people watching, beautiful set up/architecture), I would not call it romantic. We were there after 9 PM for dinner and it was very loud. We were in a quieter part of the restaurant and it was still pretty loud. We liked it, but it's probably more suited to a night out with friends rather than a romantic dinner.
I made reservations the day before. We still waited 40 minutes. What was the purpose of the reservation?
Other than that, the place was beautiful.
I read an article that voted The Little Door the most romantic restaurant in all of California. With such a great reputation, I was really excited to go. Unfortunately, I was truly disappointed; it didn't meet my expectations. The restaurant was crowded and noisy. The tables were so close together that there was no privacy, and the music playing was truly bizarre (and loud). Most romantic? Definitely not!
Great atmosphere and service, and delicious food.
The décor lives up to its reputation as a romantic restaurant. However, the real attraction is the food, with the executive chef doing a superb job of matching flavors and textures in all the dishes we tried. Food presentation is also excellent. The restaurant does showcase higher-end wines. The only minor quibble is the high noise level, but that is a function of the clientele and not the establishment. Despite that, the background music could still be heard at an appropriate level, a testament to the exceptional quality of the sound system. Overall, a very, very nice dinner experience.
We had a wonderful night there celebrating our anniversary.
