What Insiders Are Saying
The Little Door is one of the most romantic restaurants in the city
My husband and I went to The Little Door for date night and had an amazing experience. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready so we took a seat at the bar. The manager saw that we were waiting and took the liberty of buying my my first drink, thanking me for my patience. The cocktails were great, especially the 4 Pepper Smoke (not too sweet and not too spicy).
I fell in love with this restaurant's ambiance. Everything from the tree covered dining room to the unique bar. The restaurant felt lively without being too loud. My husband and I were able to easily converse over a cute cheese board.
I ordered the Pappardelle and it was to die for. It was a good sized portion and I just about inhaled the entire thing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a restaurant with a lot of character.
Great dinner! DineLa menu was awesome! Waiters were very polite and attentive. I would come back here again.
Great little place, with a great ambiance and excellent food. We went for DineLA so the price was definitely worth it! Service was also fantastic, and our server was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend for a romantic evening or to treat yourself with friends.
I wanted to love this place and was looking forward to dinner there. Perhaps it was because I only reserved a couple days in advance, but I had requested a table in the courtyard but was seated in the very back of the restaurant...Siberia! That aside, our waiter was nice and attentive. Appetizers were good but the main course (duck) was not. The breast was super tough and the skin on the leg confit was soggy. We are big fans of Little Next Door and I think we will stick with that.
The sea bass was amazing!
I had accidental made rezo at bar next door - similar name - but the host was very kind and got us a table - lovely atmosphere and service and food !
We came here on a Saturday night with a group of 6 people (3 couples). Our reservation time was 9pm. We came on time. I understand with Dine LA week going on they might be busier than usual but that does not excuse a wait time of 45 minutes. I feel like it is a point for improvement for management. I could understand 15 minutes or so but 45??? that's a bit too much. Some busier restaurants, have a 2 hour time that they give you for your meal, I feel like since the restaurant is so busy they could utilize the same strategy to minimize the wait time of other guests. Once we were finally seated, the guy, who seemed to be the manager appologized for the wait and said that the desert is on him. We were planning to do DineLA menu so I asked him if would give us a round of desert, he said oh he was just planning to send 1 desert to our table of 6 people to make up for 45 minute wait. Well, i feel like he shouldn't have even mentioned it in this case. Anyhow, we sit down and no one came up to us for another 15 min until we finally flagged a waiter down to our table. It took them another 30 min to bring a bread basket, appetizers didn't come out for another 45 min and entrees about 1 hour after that. We finished at almost 1 am. Now about the food, I tried octopus and sea bass. Both were ok. I thought they were great value for dineLA price, which was $59 plus gratuity and tax. But the full prices were too high for these dishes. The manager ended up sending peach cobbler and a cheesecake free of charge. I ordered cream brulee, which had an orange flavor that I did not like at all. Peach cobbler was ok but the cheesecake was really good. Another thing that I was happy about is the surcharge for living expenses??? what is that all about??? I didn't say anything because by that point I was over it and just wanted to go home but seriously? who does that. Overall, it is a nay for me. In LA there are so many restaurants and first impressions are everything. NEXT PLEASE
LOVED the The Little Door. Service was warm and personal, food and cocktails were outstanding. Loved the indoor/outdoor ambiance accompanied by great lighting and music. Very romantic too. Will definitely be making this a staple of my "favorite LA restaurants" list.
Delicious food, very romantic environment and friendly staff!
Between the service to the exceptional meal, this restaurant put a smile on my face and kept it there long after leaving. I’m coming back to spend my birthday here and to show my friends what they have been missing!
My date and myself had the most beautiful and wonderful dinner date ever the service was delightful. Food was very delicious cooked to perfection. Thank you for the most amazing night.
1st date and 5 year anniversary ... special place remained unchanged ...
Amazing service, food, and atmosphere. Will most definitely return.
I really enjoyed The Little Door. Liked the feeling inside. Food was terrific. Good value for what you are getting. Full bar is always nice. Great service.
My experience at The Little Door Restaurant was extraordinary! I made the reservation to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and I must say I was extremely happy with the service, ambiance, food and overall experience!
Maybe it was an off-night: The five of us have been there a few times together. Four of the five in our party thought the food was was not as good as previously. The service was poor. It appeared that the waiter was over-worked; maybe the staff was short-handed. In any event, the waiter was not particularly pleasant. I would recommend the restaurant, but with a caveat now based on our dinner on Sunday.
Took my mom here for a “welcome to LA dinner. “ it was a wonderful experience. From the decor to the lighting to the service - it’s a really romantic place. Definitely suggest for a date night. It’s dimly lit with a French Moroccan ambiance. Super pretty place. Now for the food - bomb! We got the tasting menu. Arugula salad was amazing. Pistachio goat cheese tart with beets and peaches. Fantastic. Then we both got the sea bass which was so fragrant with different spices - I’ve never had sea bass quite like it. For dessert we had hot mint tea with the cheesecake and some sort of chocolate pudding. Devine. Definitely recommend going for any reason.
Another great evening at the Little Door. The food, service and atmosphere were perfect. A special thank you to the incoming manager for his warm welcome and courtesy. Thank you.
Nice cute place but quality and taste of food is not worth the price. I had a prime rib which was very salty so did other food. Opinion agreed by table next to me.
It is always a warm and wonderful experience and the food is amongst the best in LA.
Wonderful place for a special occasion. Great food, wine, music.
Perfect place for couples have romantic dinner, a little too far for orange county people, but it worth for once you are there
Food was good though a little over seasoned.
Very expensive though!
Fantastic as always!
I loved it,it is part of Heaven🥰🥰🥰
The service was good and food was divine.
The new Manager was so friendly and professional.
We had a reservation for 9 PM and we weren’t set until 945. While they comped one cocktail for us, the rest of the evening was as slow and mis-managed as our arrival. We didn’t actually get our entrées until almost 11:00 PM which is outrageous. There was a huge birthday party going on in the restaurant, which - it has to be said - is the wrong venue for any type of party of more than six people. I won’t be back.
While the ambiance and food is great there was a cheap bachelorette party going on in the main area that was unpleasantly loud. Management should have asked them not to be so loud.
Really beautiful ambiance and great service. I was not a fan of our two appetizers- the ahi tuna and hamachi but the rest was great
It was my wife’s birthday and the Little Door turned out to be the best restaurant experience that we’ve had in Los Angeles in over 20 years
Beautiful location. Excellent service and food.
Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and great food. Would definitely recommend.
Great ambiance, Great Food and yes Great atmosphere, could not ask for more
A special night out with my wife ended up being pretty dissapointing. We were expecting a top of the range experience at the prices being charged, but were left feeling super let down. I must say though, the general ambiance and service were really good. Our problem was the food. I had the "CRUDO" HAMACHI to start. The fish was fresh, but the dish tasted of nothing, grossly under-seasoned and lacking any real flavor. The cucumbers and radishes weren't pickled or dressed, and added nothing to an otherwise flavorless dish. A great shame! My wife had the Goat's cheese tart for her appetizer. Again, another flavorless dish. The most subtle of all the Goat's cheeses I've ever tried. The beets lacked any depth of flavor, their preparation seemed to be simply peeling. No attention is paid to to the togetherness of the dishes here. Once again under-seasoned/under-dressed, badly judged. We moved on to our extremely expensive steak entres, a rib eye for my wife and a fillet mignon for myself. At this price point you really do expect the best. The steak, well cooked. The marrow a lovely accompaniment to my mignon. Why did the chef choose to serve me soggy potatoes instead of frittes. Why did the chef choose to serve over-done bland broccolini. The most out of place of all the elements on my plate was the scattering of sun dried tomatoes. I did cross my mind they must have tumbled from another dish whilst on the pass. They had no place on this other wise lack luster Sunday pot roast style plate of food. Very frustrating. I did give feedback to my server who quickly spoke to the restaurant manager and reduced our bill slightly. This wasn't goal, but I felt he dealt with things really well. To sum things up. Don't go to this restaurant for the food. Go there for the service and the lovely patio, or to surround yourself with other tourists in 'LA's most romantic restaurant’
Food was delicious
Service very good
The Little Door is my favorite restaurant in the world! I have been going here for years and love it just as much each time I go. One of my best friends and I simply MUST go here every time she comes to town. The ambiance is so charming, the wait staff is always attention and friendly and the food never disappoints! I don't each red meat but my friend does and she always says she's going to try something new but always ends up getting the Rib Eye steak which happens to be the best one in town. I usually get sea bass or the day boat scallops and love them both. Don't skip dessert!
Actually this review is for the Little Door - Santa Barbara, where we had intended to make our reservation. The staff was excellent and got us in anyway despite the mix-up and the food was fantastic.
The ambiance is best in LA. Food is good price is a bit high but it’s a great for date night and for our 20 year anniversary !
Everything was great! The service, the management, the food. Would definitely come back.
