A favorite of area locals for many years, we are located in one of the oldest buildings in Tremont. We have worked hard to preserve the character of the historic location and offer an intimate atmosphere, inventive cocktails and a variety of wine and beers, chef made entrees and appetizers.
The menu online was not was offered at the restaurant, and we wanted something that wasn't available. That was disappointing. The cesaer salad was not very good - seemed like the lettuce was not fresh and basically just some croutons added. The other food was good, and service was very attentive. I know in these 'covid times' things are a bit different - but it was just an ok experience, considering - and it was a special occasion for us, so that kind of added to the just ok experience.
It was absolutely delicious! Nice find for our first time in Cleveland
Great service, great tasting food. A little off the beaten path, but that makes it nice as well. Road construction makes outdoor seating a bit dusty.
Nice place. Limited menu right now. Food was good. We liked the quiet room in the back. The bar up front is a fun, neighborhood spot.
First time at Literary and loved it! We highly recommend. Food inventive and fun. Bartender Billy is knowledgeable and fun to talk to and he knows his stuff. The menu is a bit limited due to Covid re-entry process but it is so good! Wine list needs some help but Billy is working on it. If you prefer mixed drinks - you will be very happy with the options. We will be back for sure.
Good Service. Good Drinks. Good Food.
Good food and atmosphere. Cool little place. Would totally recommend this to others, and would go again.
Fantastic food, great drinks. All around awesome experience. Will definitely be going back.
It was so so, my past was soooo heavy with garlic and I am a garlic lover :(
We were there on aa early (6:30)Wednesday evening when snow was predicted. We were alone in the back dining room so noise level was nonexistent! We had all the apps plus fries and Brussels sprouts. All were very good. It’s a very cool little spot!
A return visit did not disappoint. Prompt and friendly service as every time we've been there, the appetizers (especially the corn elote) and entrees (especially the charred corn carbonara) were excellent, and the prices reasonable. This is a great addition to the Tremont bistro scene. Two suggestions: expand the menu a bit, not a wide range of entree choices; and add some more reasonably priced wines by the glass. Still rates 5 stars.
Literary Tavern is a hidden gem. Highly recommend. Will be back for sure.
This was our first time at the Literary Cafe and it lived up to its reputation. The front half is the bar and is noisy but the back half is quieter and a little romantic. I had the burger with fries and it was fabulous. Enough for 2 meals. My husband order the pasta and it was generous too.
Great drinks and service along with delicious burgers made for a great dinner with friend.
The atmosphere is perfect for a date night. We loved the dim lighting and lovely crowd. Food is good enough especially since I consider this more of a place for cocktails. Drinks were great. We had an awesome time and will be back!
Nice little spot. The food was excellent. Nice draft beer selection. Billy makes the best ever cocktails! We will be going back.
Food was fantastic! Great place to have dinner on NYE!
I have been to many places where the bartender cannot make a good manhattan. This manhattan was perfect!
Great food, amazing service. Highly recommend the seasonal Coquito drink special!!!
Cozy and charming. Good food and service. But does it really have to have music, nice music, that LOUD?? I had to shout to my friends across the table. But we'll come back and ask for the back room to be a little bit quieter. Please??!!
We’ve recently moved to Tremont and love The Lit. The food has been great every time we’ve been there- and at an excellent value. The noise level out front in the bar area is higher than in the back room but we like the bar atmosphere anyway. Service started out a little slow and hesitant but has consistently gotten better and is quite good recently. Bartenders are great!
I ordered a seafood pot that was supposed to have shrimp. crab and mussels for $23.00. There was no crab, 5 shrimp and 5mussels. I inquired where the crab was and the waitress said they changed the dish. It was a very small portion and I mentioned that but she didn’t seem to care. I will not be back.
Great neighborhood bar and restaurant, with fabulous concoctions and creative menu. We devoured the burger, possibly one of the best we ever had! Also enjoyed a terrific squid ink risotto, a fresh crispy and well balanced Fall salad. Amazing cocktails!!! Definitely our new go-to in the Tremont neighborhood!
Had a great time! Will definitely come back again!
Love this place. Food was fantastic and the people were lovely. Can’t wait to go back.
Edward was our bartender and he was phenomenal. Took time to talk to us about cocktails, appetizersb sides and main courses. He also made some really good margaritas. His service and his personality made a difference thank you for the experience.
The food was excellent, but the wait staff seemed to be finding their feet still. Our table had a great view of the dishwashing station, so that should be fixed. The noise level was really high... might need to get some stuff on the walls to absorb.
Had a great meal and the atmosphere was really fun and energetic.
I would but with the caveat that it is very noisy. We (3 people over the age of 60) were definitely the oldest there, but in Tremont it doesn't surprise me. I am sure that, because we are older than the "usual" customers, the noise level bothered us more than it might bother younger clients but for the life of me I don't understand how they are happy with shouting over the noise in order to have a dinner conversation. All that said, the food was awesome! The charcuterie board was perfect!!! Caesar salad excellent! Airline Chicken was a beautiful presentation and I was told it was amazing. The lamb lasagna was very very tasty and the seafood hot pot was a total treat. Will likely order carry out next time---LOVED the food!!!
Great food, great service! Cocktails were also excellent. Nice ambiance but the back room can get very loud if it is full - maybe some sound panels would help.
Cozy atmosphere in one of Tremont’s oldest buildings. Customer service was stellar. Bone in ribeye was perfectly cooked and the seafood pot was delicious.
Everything was great except for my wife’s entree the airline chicken which was very dry barely edible, she couldn’t finish it. Otherwise a nice experience and we would revisit
Personal, generous service and food filled with love and attention. Outstanding
Will be back soon!!
