Lovely friendly staff. Great food with very reasonable choice - and very reasonably priced. My only gripe was the poor design of the saucer the tea/coffee is served in. There is a central plinth surrounded by a very deeply "scooped" surround. If, as for us, a small round piece of paper (like a small round serviette) is placed under the cup, the scooped out bit is hidden. An accident waiting to happen - which it did in my case! The cup, placed slightly off-centre, tipped pouring its contents over the table - and my trouser leg. Sorry that the gripe has taken up so much more space than the rest - as it was otherwise a first-rate experience. All four of us in our party thought everything else was brilliant. We'd certainly recommend the Lion very warmly - BUT be careful if you have the tea or coffee!!

Lovely pub with a choice of places to eat, we chose the restaurant. The food was good, the service a little slow but no real problem.

Staff lovely and friendly and very attentive. Starters were delicious - a caprese salad and beetroot cured gravadlax. As the weather was so warm we both decided to have the tuna nisciose salad. It was lovely apart from the raw peppers and onions, which are not normally included and weren’t listed on the menu. Also, there were no olives. I must emphasise that these were only minor niggles.

Great place to eat, inside or out. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Staff were attentive and food was delivered quickly. Lots of flavours and cooked to perfection. Bar area is well stocked and can't wait for another visit. We'll done to all of you.

We spent a wonderful time in the Garden, by the river. The food was well presented by friendly staff and it was amazing. Would recommend the Lion as a great place to enjoy great food
