Unfortunately I have to provide a low rating because the restaurant was closed for renovations, but did not make this clear on their website or on Opentable, where we were able to secure (and received multiple confirmations for) a business dinner reservation for 6 people.
The party was left locked outside, having to find a last minute restaurant.
How can you take reservations online and then not be a open on a Saturday night???????
The place closed weeks ago (we showed up and found out the hard way) but is still taking OpenTable reservations !? What gives?
Even though I made an OpenTable reservation at the Lindeman for Sunday brunch, when all of my party arrived at the restaurant, it was not open. I wish OpenTable had alerted me. It caused us difficulty because we had a theatrical event to attend afterward, and our time was tight and had been planned carefully.
Was closed even though open table let me make a reservation...found out upon arrival.
Visited for Sunday Brunch. Sat in bar area which is in entrance. Very nice ambience. Unfortunately bartender did not show for work but waitress was very accommodating on supplying the drinks she could make. Food was excellent but took a very long time to be served. Know this is a somewhat new establishment so will give them a bit more time to establish themselves before returning.
Very mediocre. Would not go back.
This has risen from the ashes of KTCHN which had always been a disaster--never knew what it wanted to be and staffed by people who wanted to do anything other than be working there. The new incarnation is a complete turnaround. The food is delicious. The half price small plates for happy hour are a steal. The service is great. The drinks are strong. This place deserves a shot. It is a bit of a hike up 42nd, but worth it.
slower than the slowest service possible. we had brunch this weekend , there were maybe 4 tables occupied in the restaurant. food was ok, but service was almost non-existent. we got the omelets on time, but then afterwards that was it. nobody asked us if we want anything else, the glasses stayed empty, we wanted to order dessert but there was nobody to ask for. in the end we asked two different waiters happening to walk by for our bill-our waiter just came in the end to get the card. weird- one would think that he would want to sell more- but maybe not???

I was very surprised with how good the food was. Went there just because it was close by and honestly didn't know what to expect. Turned out it was a movie night and there weren't too many people there. We ordered 4 small plates: Broccolini with Pistachio and Lemon oil, Chicken Fried Quail, Lamb Meat Balls, and Hudson Valley Duck. Everything was amazingly good!
The broccolini was a bit tangy and loved the little bits of pistachios that added a slight crunch to it. I only wish that the broccolini was a bit crispier but most people I know would think it was perfect as is. The quail was done like fried chicken and I never had that before. It was such a delight even the health-conscious me ate everything piece of fried skin. Yum! The star was definitely the duck. It was made with toasted hazelnut one a bed of farro and pickled carrot salad. I kept saying this is so tasty over and over again while I was eating it. I wish I knew the recipe to that so I could cook it at home all the time.
All in all, the food is like what you would find in one of those shi shi places but the restaurant was not sceny or even crowded. Prices were quite reasonable and the decor was nice and cozy. Definitely would go back.
I use to go here when it was KTCHN - I like the new menu, the food was very tasteful and I would come back again.
brunch in NYC is overrated anyways and this place has no fancy dishes except avocado toast but everything on the menu was very well made. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and omelets were cooked perfectly.
The food was very good and service great. My only complaint was the music was awful. It was distracting.
Shared a bunch of small dishes and a pasta for a light dinner date. Place was a bit of a disappointment. Grilled octopus was tiny and a bit over cooked. Beef carpaccio was inundated with olive oil and the slices of beef were measly. Presentation was nice except for the lamb meatballs which looked like cup of marinara for someone's entree.
Service started ok and then fell apart. Felt cheated when i ordered the less expensive glass of wine which they said they ere out of and had to pay three more per glass... bait and switch. there's some sort of back room that has a half curtain hanging on it and you can see storage etc. You can fit into a booth if you weigh more than 150. Maybe the'll get organized but I wont be back until I hear they are

Great place for an intimate dinner; the food was amazing. It's just a hike getting there and is not a cheap meal.
We have loved this place for years. Under new management the atmosphere is even better! Food is amazing. We had the roared chicken and the pork chop m entrees. Both amazing! The specialty cocktails are incredible. One of my favorite NYC dining spots!
Good new spot. Good small plates, fantastic ribeye entree. Not too busy yet, need to work on ambiance. Have a spot for a piano player which would go a long way to kicking this to the next level.
Sent back the octopus appetizer - rubbery and too salty. The vegetable appetizers were disappointing. The homemade sorbets - very ordinary. The new restaurant (formerly KTCHN) is nowhere as attractive or inviting.
The setting is lovely!
We ordered 3 appetizers and the portions were so very small! quail,carpaccio,spring salad.
For entrees we had:
*Ribeye(thin and fatty, decent flavor)
*Pasta something, small portion and so so flavor
*Pork Chop was large and best flavor of the table
*Chicken Breast , lightly fried but no serious flavor
2 dishes came with mashed potatos, those were good.
We ordered coffee, 2 which came ice cold! Sent them back but desserts had already come, serious coffee drinkers who like it with their desserts would have been very upset! One of us was!
* Desserts were the best part! 😘 Peach crumb, strawberry shortcake and third I can't recall. But we liked all 3.
The waitress. Mireya??? Was lovely and kind. I'm sorry I can't recall her name, but she did tell us this place had only been open 1 month. I hope it makes it but it has a bit of fine tuning to do.
I'm wanting to be honest, and helpful as a critic, not mean. Food biz in NYC is brutal.

Convenient for dining before or after Playwrights Horizons, and especially Signature. Appetizers were quite good - tempura string beans and meatballs. Main course was salmon. Preparation lacked seasoning and since we were never asked how we liked our fish prepared (we assumed it would come medium rare), it was overcooked, and a bit dry. Server was friendly, but overall the service was quite inattentive. Restaurant was empty and yet the server and busboy were both absent for long periods. Empty plates remained on the table for way too long. Skipped dessert.
This is the former location of KTCHN, one of the dining disasters of the last several years which no matter how it tried, just couldn't get its act together, mainly because the staff were THE WORST EVER. Lindeman has a good menu, decently priced--Manhattans were a tad bit pricey. The place was dead--location is not a strong suit here. It is too far west. Our waiter started off okay--helpful, friendly, attentive, but as things went on he became scarce, and we were reminded of KTCHN and its always disappearing staff. Note to new owners, the waiters shouldn't be chatting each other and the bartender up and ignoring their customers. We'll go a gain, I suspect, but won't rush to do so.
I took my daughter to NYC for her birthday and a friend recommended The Lindeman for our first dinner in the city. It was fabulous. West of Times Square, this hidden neighborhood gem was the perfect spot to begin our weekend. The dining room is simple elegance, and allows you to escape the frenzy of midtown. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and helped with meal choices as well as wine. The pork chop is divine! I will definitely have dinner at The Lindeman the next time I am in New York!
Nothing special. We are local residents and happy to have them join the neighborhood. Service and food nothing special. Food arrives at random times. Manager never came by for a visit or welcome us. We have not returned.
My college friend and I had a great reunion dinner at the Lindeman on a Saturday night. They sat us at a cozy table in the back, and were very attentive (but not invasively so) from the start. We shared a bottle of sparking rose (perfect). For appetizers: the tempura string beans (lighty battered which was delicious) and tuna tartar on an avocado bed (fresh and tasty!). For our main meals, I got the pork chop (juicy, great mix of flavors; I think it was an apricot compote on top?) and my friend had the creamy pasta dish, also really good. For dessert, poached peaches with ice cream to share. Perfect portions (not too small like in some comparable restaurants), tasty creations, reasonable prices, and a knowledgeable, personable and professional staff. I recommend the Lindeman and will go back!
Chef Carl is amazing!!! The food, the presentation, the ambiance...everything was top notch! The Lindeman does not disappoint from the minute you walk in you are greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere and terrific service. We had the pleasure of meeting the very talented Chef Carl, his love of food and people is evident through each phenomenal dish brought to the table! This fabulous restaurant will sure to please even the most disconcerting pallet!
This new restaurant is a great find conveniently located adjacent to the 'Out' hotel in hell's Kitchen, combining ambiance with a great menu.
Chef Carl has created great eclectic dishes for all foodies! Be sure to indulge in the appetizers- our favorites included the lamb meatballs, Japanese stringbeans, special oysters and kale salad.
You won't be disappointed!
Excellent! From the moment we walked in the door of The Lindeman , we were graciously attended by charming Corral, the General Manager and the entire staff. The unique ambiance inspired by Jacob provides an inviting sense of warmth and comfort. The farm to table menu has a nice variety and will satisfy everyones palate. Chef Carl Alioto culinary skills are amazing. He came to our table and explained each mouth watering dish in detail. Delicious! Leave room for dessert, you will continue to be amazed. Can't wait to go back!
The food was just amazing!! The Lindeman was beautiful and the service was spectacular. I can't wait to come back again and order the Avacado toast and the other amazing dishes I was able to try! It's a must when in Times Square and in NYC. You need to try it! AMAZING!

I recently had Sunday brunch here with two friends, not really knowing much about the place. Turns out that there was a drag queen performance that started at 1:30p, which wasn't bad and made for interesting brunch entertainment. When you think about brunch, you think about a big meal. However, the food portions were small for breakfast items (eggs) and my friend had to get a bagel after we left. I ordered the french toast, which was a decent portion. Nice staff at the restaurant, the dining area in the front is cute. Food is average and small on the portions side. The entertainment added a different flavor to what would have been an ordinary brunch.
Great place! Excellent service, friendly staff. Loved oysters( without lemon sorbet for me), duck, tuna tartar! 'Ve been there 5 times since the opening
