The Library (formerly The Peabody)
George Peabody believed in the power and importance of education in the lives of others; one of his many legacies is The George Peabody Library, built in 1957 in Baltimore.
Johns Hopkins was inspired by his close friend George Peabody to use his great wealth for the public good. The collaboration between these men and the institutions they created is the inspiration for our restaurant, located within Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.
Beautifully designed, polished staff, nice food selections and just overall cool atmosphere.
Brussel sprouts were delicious. Desserts were amazing. Did not like that the sangria was bottled and too sweet and didn't like receiving beer in a can. It wasn't crowded but even with a reservation we had to eat outside. Food and service were very good
Service was awful. Server did not offer Parmesan cheese on the Bolognese and we finished most of the meal before she brought us the Parm that we had to get up and ask for her. Also had to ask three times for lemon with my water.
I love the relaxed and trendy feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The sweet potato pancakes were amazing and the hot latte was not too sweet. The table also enjoyed the parfait and oatmeal. Service was well-timed and friendly, dishes were affordable."
Beautiful setting outside and excellent service and especially when in and around the hospital. The raspberry rose tea was so refreshing and the chicken salad was amazing, as well as the chocolate brownie dessert either butter ice cream Great place for a nice lunch.
Food was soso, waitress was super slow at everything. Very loud and not over all just not worth it
The Library has become one of my favorite places to dine. The service and food consistently surpasses my expectations.
The staff couldn’t be any nicer! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. I had made a special request for seating and was it was accommodated with no hesitation. It was a perfect experience and i will be returning. Thank you to the staff and everyone involved to make this night truly special!
Alan was great! Will defn be back!
Good food and good ambiance. Service needs more experience but very accommodating.
Very nice for a fancy date night. Expensive but I wouldn't say it's too expensive, the food was delicious.
We made our Valentine's Day reservation at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised to find that our outdoor table was as nice as being inside. Service was fabulous (it's always nice when the manager visits your table), and the generous portions were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves the downtown feel without the noise and traffic. Kudos to the chef and wait staff.
The food was excellent but it’s a bit pricey. The menu is a little limited. Dessert menu could use more options. French fries with steak was a bit too much. Would prefer if you could have healthy side options instead of being stuck with what each plate consisted of. Despite that, the food is very good and the atmosphere is amazing. Staff is very good.
We had lunch at the library with friends. The staff were excellent, the setting is interesting, very convenient valet parking. The food was tasty. Good spot for lunch with friends.
The curry chicken sandwich was a disappointment. Not much chicken and not much flavor. Otherwise, a pleasant lunch. I'll go back but hope they add some more choices, especially some with some spice.
Loved the ambience of the restaurant! Very cool vibe. Food was amazing!
The service was AMAZING. My friends and I went here for my birthday brunch and we were all pleased with the amount of food we got, the quality of the food and our service. We loved the ambiance - such a great concept! We will definitely be back!
Loved Jared and our waiter was the best !
Will definitely return
Food bake excellent
Small menu but worth trying.
We have come numerous times and always enjoyed. With that said waiter (we’ve had several times) poor attitude. Also feel your roasted veggie salad is misrepresented - my veggies were not roasted just barely seemed had been blanched - out of 4 at table no one expected it to be that. Also outside of boratta very tuff - unusual.
Excellent service. breakfast menu limited, but well prepared. A little to bright for the library vibe. Almost too expensive. The main recent for going back is the staff and the way they treat you there. They are very customer oriented in an age where few are.
Wow. This is a great find and I have already recommended it to both friends and strangers in St Pete. Who doesn't love a restaurant with bookcases full of books? I have been twice now, once for brunch and another time for lunch. I love the "make your own salad" choice so you can get just the goodies you want. I had roasted sweet potatoes and roasted brussels sprouts on mine-both choices you don't get very often on a restaurant salad. The sweet potato pancakes for brunch were delicious also. Go soon as I keep telling people about it and soon you won't be able to get in :) Make a reservation on OpenTable!
Great location and perfect as a place to celebrate my wife’s birthday
Our server was phenomenal, extremely friendly. My avocado toast had a very thin layer of avocado which I could barely taste so that was disappointing and only one thin piece for $10 was somewhat offsetting but the Grouper Bites and Fish Tacos were very good.
Aside from a rocky beginning. Having to be told to wait when we had reservations and being argued with etc. the food was great and service was excellent.
Food was very good (had the Branzino and Steak Frittes). Wine prices very reasonable too. We sat outside because the music was too loud and annoying inside. But outside, you really feel the restaurant's very unusual and not very pleasing setting (for a restaurant) ... in the middle of a children's hospital complex...
I wish they had better options for a Paleo diet
I have been here a few times and always enjoy the quiet library atmosphere and the friendly service as well as the food. I especially liked the Brunch menu.
Lovely restaurant but the food was off. the chicken was dry. The vegetable was gold and prepared long beofre it was eaten. The vegetable was the brocli rabbi
Everything was delicious. Service excellent. Very accommodating for vegan.
We were running late and the team were very accommodating, still finding us a table during a very busy Sunday brunch service. We will definitely be back!
We love Oxford exchange so we were excited to try this Very nice environment and service. The food and drinks were excellent. I highly recommend for brunch or casual dining . Parking was easy and easy to find with Waze app they have valet and validate so it’s perfect. Reservations a must there was a long wait but with reservations we were seated immediately
Delicious sweet potato pancakes, egg burritos, avocado toast and excellent coffee.
We very much enjoyed our breakfast. Our only problem was with service. Server did not check back on us and never offered refills on our coffee. Coffee with breakfast is important to many patrons and that refill is a tip maker or breaker.
What a great way to escape the crowd in downtown St.Pete. Perfect, clean, great ambiance, great service and great food and wine options.
Wonderful service, ambiance, and not too loud! Food was delicious, smaller portions than other restaurants, but certainly enough. Very fresh salad, salmon, steak, spaghetti. Will definitely return.
Friendly staff & delicious food!
What a gem!
Loved everything about it!
Everyone in our party thought their food choices were delicious but the Gouda bacon Grits are decadent and worth the trip alone.
Staff and management were charming , attentive and very welcoming.
Don’t let the location in the John Hopkins Hospital, put you off. It is in a separate building and the ambiance is lovely.
The food was delicious and the service was amazing.
Having had the best salad lunch, I went back for dinner the next evening and was rewarded with another great meal. Our party of four each had something different and each thoroghly enjoyed their dinners. Our guests were from NYC and have lots of choices in their home city, it was great to have such a favorite choice in our city. The Library is one more place to let me know St Pete is really growing up into a truly cosmopolitan city.
