The Library (formerly The Peabody)
George Peabody believed in the power and importance of education in the lives of others; one of his many legacies is The George Peabody Library, built in 1957 in Baltimore.
Johns Hopkins was inspired by his close friend George Peabody to use his great wealth for the public good. The collaboration between these men and the institutions they created is the inspiration for our restaurant, located within Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.

A great place worth visiting! Unique dishes with great flavors in a modern open setting. Outside seating is nice too
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and meal. The service was friendly and excellent! The food was delivered hot and tasted amazing and was also eye appealing.
Took my partner to The Library for the first time this past weekend. My partner lives in Orlando and had been encouraged to go by a mutual friend of ours who wanted pictures of the food for her food blog. Let me tell yall that the food was not only picture perfect but freaking delicious. We split the chorizo omelet and the lemon poppy seed french toast. Portions were generous for sure. In regards to the vibe, The Library had a great theme of all blue books, staff dressed in denim and blue campus Adidas, and the thoughtful touch of electrical outlets/charging ports. And...valet parking was complimentary. What more is there to say? This is my new favorite spot in DTSP!
The chef is talented and creative. The Benedict eggs with crispy pork belly, fried green tomatoes, and a Creole style hollandaise sauce was amazing. The French toast at the next table also looked like it would be fabulous. We will definitely return.
We had a good experience overall - the food was very good but I only rated it 3 stars because one of us ordered a cinnamon roll from the menu as a main part of the meal, and it was never conveyed to us (through the menu or the server) that it contained bacon. As a lifelong vegetarian, I usually know when to ask questions, and I don’t assume restaurants will cater to me, but in a situation like this, why would anyone ever assume there would be bacon in a pastry if it wasn’t noted?? My friend wasn’t a vegetarian, but didn’t like it and wouldn’t have ordered the cinnamon roll if she knew. Also, our server was very nice, and offered some good menu recommendations, but he forgot to bring us a lot of the non-order things we asked for (like extra napkins, more water), despite multiple, good natured requests. We’ll come back - again the food was great, the staff was pleasant and there is more I’d like to try. It was Easter Sunday, with what we were told were several new menu options (including the bacon cinnamon roll), so going to chalk this up to an off day.
Great experience every time! Thank you
I have become a regular customer of The Library for its service, food, ambiance, and music. The service is always friendly, courteous, and professional.
Went to The Library on a Saturday evening for dinner. Our reservation was @ 6:00 and the dining room was only about half full. It got busier around 7:00 when we were finishing. We split/shared three courses and it was plenty for the both of us. The buratta was excellent with the crispy grilled bread and make yourself topping. For our second course we had the roasted vegetable salad that had a nice combination of flavors and textures. Finally we finished with the steak frites that included the parmesan truffle fries.
Truly awesome. Will be back... and soon!
Tucked away on the corners of the Johns Hopkins hospital this place is a true delight! Food is Ah-mazing, be sure to try to the grits, truly a bite of heaven.
We had a wonderful time at The Library for a prom night dinner, I have been to the Library with friends for brunch (amazing). Three of us were very happy with our meals (I got the Branzino which was amazing with couscous and the my friend got the steak-frites). The only disappointed party was our vegan. There was only one vegan option (which was an appetizer). She ended up taking everything off of a salad to make it vegan and was not satisfied. Overall great experience for most but would not recommend for those with very strict dietary restrictions.
Outstanding food and service
My party of four was very happy with their food. Service was very good also. Hard to see this place from outside but we found it anyway.
Menu has something to please everyone.
The ambiance with the heigh ceilings, large book shelves, herringbone wood floor and wait staff dressed all in navy blue makes it feel upscale but casual all at the same time.
This hidden gem shouldn’t be missed.
We took my sister and brother in law to brunch. It was fabulous! We started with a delicious Bloody Mary...great start. The club sandwich was wonderful served with the homemade chips. My husband had the classic breakfast...excellent. Another enjoyable experience at The Library!
Really great space and the staff was super friendly while easily accommodating our large group. I love that they sell Buddy Brew coffee. Only thing that was concerning is that they didn’t feel the need to mention on their menu or when we ordered the cinnamon bun that there was bacon in it until we ate it and asked the server about it.
Service was great and attentive to our needs. Accommodating with my gluten free request by substituting certain menu items. The burrata appetizer was delicious and skirt steak and chicken dish was flavorful. We will definitely return!
This restaurant cousin of the outstanding Oxford Exchange was/is in the last three days of serving breakfast. It should have stopped the day before we came. Some items served clearly stale. Out of other items. Service was very nice, and we will return for dinner. Dinner menus themselves could use a freshening, and perhaps a few more items on that menu itself.
This restaurant overall won't make the 4th of July without a little more/larger exterior signage, directions to parking, and pop and sizzle.
What a great find. This restaurant is lovely and the food was chef-driven, making the menu interesting and delicious. Plus they have valet parking even during the day.
Wonderful Brunch! We started with a grilled blueberry muffin and it was delicious. My husband had the Eggs Benedict which he absolutely loved. I had the French toast which was fabulous...best I have ever had. Our server Eder was very attentive and gave us suggestions for our next brunch at The Library. All in all, we loved everything about our visit to The Library. We are looking forward to dinner there real soon. I want to add that the host and servers were so friendly and nice. They were so welcoming! Thank you!
We went for brunch for the first time last weekend and absolutely loved it! I got the cinnamon swirl sourdough French toast and it’s my new favorite! My boyfriend got the Peabody Breakfast and was more than impressed! We also shared the Gouda grits and they were amazing!!! We sat outside and the weather was perfect! The servers were polite and the food came out fast even though they were pretty busy! We will be back!
Everything was great with our experience this past Sunday. The service was great, the food was great and the company was great. All of us agreed that we would love to dine at The Library again!
We had a small baby shower gathering. Food was great, surrounding beautiful, good service . Woul
I loved the atmosphere, classic, clean, yet modern. The only not so awesome thing was there was no bathroom in the restaurant, but it was close. Food was tasty and moderate priced for the location, definitely will return when I’m in st Pete !
We had brunch. Everything was wonderful. Best omelet I've ever had.
We enjoyed our dinner and the ambience, but didn't appreciated the constant slamming of the door as waiters and patrons went in and out of the patio. Surely something could be put on that door to keep it from slamming.
Absolutely amazing atmosphere and food. I had the steak frites and the flavor was excellent and the portion of truffle parmigiana fries was enough for the whole table. The Manhattan and the cheese platter tasted great as well. Really nice.
Every day or date or special occasion. Lovely to have it n St Pete
A fantastic atmosphere! I am a huge fan of Oxford Exchange in Tampa, so I was expecting The Library to be just a grand and it exceeded all expectations! I definitely will be coming back!
Fantastic service in a unique atmosphere! Food was incredible.
Interesting food choices. Nice presentation and service. Room is large and comfortable.
Don't let the outside fool you, The Library is nothing like the hospital look on the outside. The decor was lovely and the atmosphere calming. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious. Our only negative was that the guy working the valet parking was pretty inattentive.
Good food and quick service! I ordered the sangria which was poured at my table from a premade bottle. It just seemed silly because now I could see that I could have gotten a drink like that from the grocery store. I would just pour that at the bar to eliminate the presentation.
Outstanding dining experience.... impeccable really. Cannot recommend enough... You
Great food! Our third time in and always delicious! A little noisy but manageable.
So this place has a James Beard nominee! Been wanting to come here for a while and today the weather was perfect so here we are for brunch.
We did our reservation on OpenTable and it was pretty busy so that was a good call. We got sat quick. Seating outside is really nice, cafe style. Servers are quick and attentive.
We started with crispy avocado wedges. These were tasty and creamy. They had the deep fried but the breading was light. Went really well with a Chardonnay.
We then had the Benedict and the burger. I like how they don't try to name the food crazy. It is just a burger and a Benedict. The burger was good but not spectacular. Deb's Benedict was tasty but the eggs were over cooked.
I will echo what others have said about it being pricey. $19 for a burger is a lot to ask so the burger better be amazing. It was OK but not amazing. Don't get me wrong, the food was really good. We especially liked the truffle fries but the burger was just OK and the Benedict's eggs were overcook. Oozing eggs is the best part of the a Benedict and these were hard.
We will be back as the food had some really great flavors and the drink menu has some great options but we will be choosy about what we buy. The price to flavor is not quite there yet. IMO.
Nicki our server is excellent. Andour food was very good and came hot the way I like it
We stopped in for brunch while in town. Complimentary valet was available for parking making it a breeze. Since it was nice weather, we chose to dine outside. The outdoor seating isn't super comfortable as the chairs are narrow. We ordered the griddled muffin, bagel & lox, and french toast. Portions were plenty and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Service was prompt.
This place was amazing we got a burger here after going to the Dali Museum and I was great. Definitely going again
