Absolutely loved it for a romantic evening
Food was mediocre
The Leopard would get all 5-star ratings if you request a seat in the front section. For 2 people, seated in the back, it is not PERfECT; but one cannot fault the ambiance, decor, service, or the food. Next time, I'll specifically ask for a "front table" and bring a blow-up doll if there are only 3 of us. ;-)
This is my favorite restaurant when in NYC. The artist, Howard Chandler Christy, was born in my home area. I feel a sense of pride when I look upon his murals in this enchanting restaurant.
Excellent experience! Will revisit and send others.
Delicious local food in a lovely, elegant atmosphere. Love the place!
THIS RESTAURANT NEVER FAILS TO BE WARM AND WELCOMING and delicious goes without saying. But above all, the staff treats everyone with love care, respect and interest. It is always a pleasure to be at THE LEOPARD
My husband and I always come for birthdays. Totally elegant, understated service- I don’t want someone hovering over me! Wonderful food. I do appreciate good advice. Kit, for example, is much better with white wine rather than bubbly and a bit of lemon peal.
We had an absolutely amazing experience. Our food was delicious and the service was in pacable. They do a very fine job at accommodating their guests
The Leopard is a delight. The cuisine, ambiance and sevice are exceptional. Importantly, without exception, everyone is a professional, in that they take a PERSONAL reponsibility for their guests' experience at The Leopard.
The Food, the restaurant and the price didn’t match. To noisy and missing quality of the food.
Beautiful place, great ambiance but service just ok and food mediocre. Rabbit terrine pretty tasteless, artichoke salad even more tasteless, venison was ok, cooked perfectly but the sauce also tasteless and not helped too much by the juniper berries. Clearly not worth the price unless you are accompanied by a hot date who has numb tastebuds.
Dinner was lovely. Frankly, better than we'd expected. The food was delicious. The sdervice attentive - and professional. Most of all...how nice to be able to hear each other across the table. The door to the outside is a terrific addition...it's been a very long time since we dined at des Artistes...we will return.
The main reason I would not recommend the restaurant is that I ordered pasta with eggplant and tomatoes and there was virtually no eggplant in it. The pasta was $23, and it was all pasta with red sauce. It was an uninspired dish. On the plus side, our farro salad was excellent and my husband's entree was quite good.
Not at all trendy-but always reliably good food, service and of course the iconic decor
The Leopard is a stunning room and the murals are a conversation starter.
We chose The Leopard for pre-opera dinner and as the room began clearing out around 7:30, we still hadn't gotten our entrees. We asked about our order, and very quickly everything came out, including my husband's seriously undercooked pasta, which we can only assume they rushed.
We arrived at 6 and ordered quickly, and obviously the staff knows pretty much everyone who's there at that time has a curtain deadline. We watched as everyone around us got their food, their tables were cleared and they began to leave ...
Overall the service was attentive and I enjoyed my risotto.
That said, I would go back for a beautiful New York experience, but might not wait as long to inquire if it seems our order might have gotten forgotten.
Food way too salty severely masking any other flavor
And very pricey
We went before the opera and had the prix-fixe, which was delightful. Service got us to our show in plenty of time without feeling rushed. Highly recommended for pre-theater dining.
I was disappointed I didn’t get to hear the live music as we were seated in an area of the restaurant that you couldn’t hear the music
Wonderful place for a weekend brunch - great service and delicious food. Lovely environment
The food was deplorable. tasteless artichoke salad. Lamb chops were paper thin, full of fat, and not cooked as ordered to medium rare. The tarragon that was a key ingredient in the lamb chops as advertised on the menu was nowhere to be found or tasted. The broccoli raab was way overcooked to the point of being slimy and greasy. No seasoning and no red pepper flakes on the broccoli raab, as advertised. The dover sole and accompanying vegetables were overcooked and poorly seasoned. The hostess was rude and not helpful. No one would help us take our drinks from the bar to our table. The waiter was very snooty and condescending as we tried to order wine. I used to come to this restaurant many years ago and it was really special. This time it was so appalling, I will not return unless I hear that they have gone through another turnover of management. It was shockingly bad.
The atmosphere is cozy and the place was inviting. Our wine was excellent but the meal was not. I expected more of the food. The highlight for both of us was the little side salad which was served with the rabbit terrine appetizer.
We had an early dinner prior to attending a play. I loved the murals on the wall and the general feel of the place. The food was mixed with one outstanding dish (poached halibut) and two good dishes. The primary negative was the noise level and the number of waiters scurrying back and forth. (At one point there were six waiters at a table of five next to us.) It was not a relaxing atmosphere. Despite the large number of servers, our service was a little slow.
The #1 restaurant on the UWS!!!!!
It was our first time there and we absolutely loved it.
Great food and service. Not faraway from the Metropolitan Opera which is very convenient if you would like to have nice dinner before the show.
As we’ve come to expect, the food was delicious and served with attention and care. It’s always a delight to visit this restaurant.
Completely lovely on all fronts!
We were celebrating a birthday and had a delightful evening.
Fabulous live jazz! Impeccable service from a great staff. Such a neighborhood gem.
They held our res when we called that we were late and were really nice about it!!! Super accommodating servers- we wanted to split an appetizer and hurry (because we were late) and it wasn’t a problem. fantastic and interesting menu - superb food quality (home made pasta), fish deboned at the table for you etc. Delicious cocktails. Excellent and attentive service. About 10 minutes walk to Metropolitan Opera house. Very reasonable price for quality of food & service and location. More mature crowd as can be expected before the opera/lincoln centre shows. Thank you Open Table for this awesome recommendation
Loved it, always do!
Beautiful murals, lovely service and ambiance and good food.
Lovely restaurant, nice ambiance. We were there for a jazz brunch. The food was very good. I had eggs Benedict which they had no problem customizing by putting it over the potatoes and leaving pour the bread since I’m gluten intolerant. I ordered a peach Bellini which was strong and didn’t taste like peach. I told Lu the waiter and the manager came over and was so nice, he had them add more peach purée and it was then delicious. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary which was too chunky a lot if horseradish and she did not care for it. They took it away and she got a glass of wine. They only charged us for the glass of wine; not the other drinks. I would come here again but probably skip the bar drinks.
Great place for Sunday Brunch. They have a jazz group near the entrance, so if you like that, sit on the first level. We preferred quiet and enjoyed a delightful and delicious brunch on the upper level near the bar. No one sits at the bar for brunch! Our only caution, don't order a side salad unless you're prepared to spend $15 for it.
Great service from the moment we walked in until we left. Excellent food, service and value.
I was so happy to find that the Leopard at des Artists is so very similar to the Cafe des Artists, which I frequented years ago when I lived in New York City. It is still a very romantic, special place.
Delicious Italian cuisine. Great service. Beautiful decor. A bit expensive for our neighborhood.
A great spot for any occasion. Very good service, food and a pretty restaurant. We are regulars
Surprise birthday event
They were cooperative in seating guests early, attentive service and excellent food. The atmosphere was elegant, intimate and easy for conversation .
Wonderful setting with tasty food and excellent attentive service. A great choice to dine with special friends.
This is our 3rd visit to The Leopard and it never disappoints!!!!
