The Leopard at des Artistes
We enjoy The Leopard at Des Artistes very much. Lovely, delicious, family-run ristorante.
We had a lovely dinner. The service and the food were outstanding. The wine list could have included a greater variety, but our wine selection was very good. We were with friends we hadn’t seen in a long time and we appreciated the fact that we could have a conversation without being drowned out by loud music or other diners. We like the wider spacing of the tables too. Highly recommended.
This is the best restaurant on the UWS!!
We dine here 3x per week
It was so wonderful to be back at The Leopard des artiste. I had not been there since they opened after the Cafe Des Artiste has closed. They have updated the interior giving it a warm elegant modern vibe.
The food was superb and the service couldn’t be outdone. The venison was so tender and delicious. I also appreciated the noise level and I didn’t have to shout at my dinner companion (husband) to be heard. Definitely going back soon.
This is the second time I've been here since I wanted to give it another chance. The service staff really needs training, from coat-check through bussing. The food is no better than a good home cook can do, and the portions small. After barely being greeted at the front desk, we had to squeeze past three waiters each deboning fish in a narrow dining room. The waiters did not seem well-versed in the wine list and no one seemed to tell the bussers that we had asked for water without ice. When the busser at the table next to us crashed several glasses and dishes, he spilled wine into the votive candle holder and when I pointed out that he might want to change it, he simply set for the following guests with the wine still in the holder. Then there was a ten-minute wait for coats. Way over-priced for the quality of food and service.
Outstanding food in a classic New York setting
Birthday dinner before theater. Very elegant and delicious
The food is terribly bland and the service is fair at best. The atmosphere is probably good for 60-year-olds and +, but abysmal for younger people. Beverages seem to take too long. I may return to the bar only for one cocktail that I liked, The Fountain of Youth. The bathroom was also not clean and nearly as cold as being outside.
The Leopard is a beautiful, cozy, elegant restaurant for an occassion or just a wonderful meal when you want something a little special near Lincoln Center . The staff was knowledgable, and helpful while not hovering. The maitre de spent a lot of time with more than one party who were planning private events (we were there on a Monday night which may be why he tells people to come then since it's a quiet night). While certainly not inexpensive, it is also not offensively priced. The menu has a lot of options, a very wide ranging wine menu (of all price points) and many vegetarain/pescatarian choices. All in all a great spot.
We had a great meal with excellent service! We'll be back.
Good food and excellent service
Excellent service. Lobster in appetizer a bit rubbery and dish seemed too oily. Sea bass almost too done while Dover Sole was superb. All in all, maybe we prefer lighter and simpler dishes.
Lovely evening with daughter and son in law before a show. All around perfect dining experience.
We really enjoyed the brunch. A lovely dining room with comfortable space between tables. Very good fresh egg omelet. Excellent danish basket. Also fresh orange juice good. We will go back.
Our favorite place.
Great food and service.
Always a pleasure to dine at the Leopard! Great food, ambience and service.
Make no mistake about it, this is an Italian restaurant That is the only thing that is ordinary. Innovative well prepared food using quality ingredients. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Nice Italian wine list that is fairly priced. The space is one of the most beautiful in New York. We will be back.
After opera- New Years’s Eve - perfect!!!
The ambiance and serve are superb but the I ordered the lamb chops and thought they were flavorless and not very interesting.
Love the atmosphere . Service is excellent . Perfect for a romantic evening or special occasion.
we go here quite frequently, and are never disappointed.
Character and ambience are the keynotes for the Leopard. The jazz brunch was delightful. We will be back when visiting NYC.
The noise level and the prices are high. Not too many choices for vegetarians. Service was pleasant but a little confused.
The room is beautiful and the service and food were wonderful and very professional. We will return soon.
One of the few restaurants near Lincoln Center that actually moves opera patrons in a brisk, but not hurried pace. Some other restaurants make me nervous that I will have to run to the opera house. That has actually happened once or twice. Food and service are both great.
Very good authentic Italian food served in a stunning setting.
Always a pleasure to be in such a legendary space, while continues the traditions of good service and food.
Will be returning soon !
One of my favorite places
Perfect for special occasions
We frequently dine at The Leopard. It’s one of our favorite places in NYC where the food is consistently wonderful and the service impeccable.
The best service ever at a first time visit! The faggotini was superb as was the risotto with scallops. And they introduced us to a special southern Italy red that is bottled just for them, which was delightful. What a gem!
On the noise side not over powering. Perfect service, food was creative and satisfying. Would return for another great dinner. And other selections.
Christmas Day at 5:30 and the place was packed. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service. All of our dishes were perfectly prepared. Want to go back on a quiet slow night to really enjoy the ambiance
Fabulous food in a beautiful room. I think the Leopard and its sister restaurant Il Gatopardo serve some of the best Italian food in the city. There isn't a pasta on the menu that I wouldn't want to eat! However, be mindful of where they seat you; a seemingly innocuous shelf abutting our table turned out to be a very busy waiters' station. No one should be subject to that at those prices.
The Leopard at Cafe Des Artiste is a gem that shines as a New York classic should.
Very disappointed with the restaurant. It is tired, in need of a new menu and a make over.
It feels like an old country club. What a shame.
Pretty much perfect on every count. They do everything right at The Leopard.
We had a reservation for dinner and we were on time and they had our table and it was in a quiet area as I requested. Our server was very good and helpful. The problem comes with the food that I felt for this kind of restaurant and price I thought was really quite ordinary. I don't mind paying $50 for an entree if I feel it is special and after I finish I say "wow I have to come back". I am writing this review 5 days after dining there and I actually can't remember anything that I had. The rob roy I had as a cocktail was excellent.
Excellent restaurant: very nice atmosphere, very well run, creative menu, great food with very good service!
I had the Bucatini and it was decent enough though I've had better. The crumb topping was some dry. My friend's dish, a fish dish, was rather good.
Our. Favorite go to place .
Never fails..great food ..great service
