Lovely restaurant, nice ambiance. We were there for a jazz brunch. The food was very good. I had eggs Benedict which they had no problem customizing by putting it over the potatoes and leaving pour the bread since I’m gluten intolerant. I ordered a peach Bellini which was strong and didn’t taste like peach. I told Lu the waiter and the manager came over and was so nice, he had them add more peach purée and it was then delicious. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary which was too chunky a lot if horseradish and she did not care for it. They took it away and she got a glass of wine. They only charged us for the glass of wine; not the other drinks. I would come here again but probably skip the bar drinks.
Great service from the moment we walked in until we left. Excellent food, service and value.
I was so happy to find that the Leopard at des Artists is so very similar to the Cafe des Artists, which I frequented years ago when I lived in New York City. It is still a very romantic, special place.
Delicious Italian cuisine. Great service. Beautiful decor. A bit expensive for our neighborhood.
A great spot for any occasion. Very good service, food and a pretty restaurant. We are regulars
Surprise birthday event
They were cooperative in seating guests early, attentive service and excellent food. The atmosphere was elegant, intimate and easy for conversation .
Wonderful setting with tasty food and excellent attentive service. A great choice to dine with special friends.
This is our 3rd visit to The Leopard and it never disappoints!!!!
We had a great meal, a wonderful time - we’ll come back again.
Lovely ambiance. A bit of NYC history, updated. Food was delicious for our after theatre dinner.
Waiter was great but some dishes were better than others. Fish tasted strong.
What is there to say. It is classic in every sense of the word. Staff is impeccable. We are so lucky to live only a block away from this little slice of heaven. (But heaven does come with a price tag :-) )
Very well prepared and very original Italian cuisine. Personnel very thoughtful while celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Would certainly go again. Thank you for making our dinner unforgettable.
Leopard at Des Artistes wasn't kidding about the "gut renovation" from the now-memoried Café Des Artistes - but they did such a nice job, and kept the famous murals, that it definitely improved the ambience (now warm wood and earth tones). Our appetizers - cold salume and cheese board, and a salad - were fresh and tasty. Our dinners - Dover sole (expertly deboned at the table) and grilled swordfish, were perfect and I mean perfect - and a neighboring diner asked me how the swordfish was, I recommended it heartily, he ordered it and he was taken with it as well. Dessert was a lovely pear tart, shared. Excellent selection of wines. We approve!!
Our friends hadn’t been to the restaurant since the original Des Artistes closed. They loved the renovation/restoration, menu and the entire experience. They will no longer hesitate to step back in.
Exceptional food and service. Ambience is perfect!
The food quality and preparation was poor: generic presentation, not seasoned well, and amateurishly cooked. In addition, there was a stone (yes, a small rock) found in one of our meals which was only discovered after it broke a tooth. The staff was attentive after that, and apologetic, but the dining experience had already been ruined. There are other, more tasty and reasonably priced alternatives in the area, until the Leopard can change its spots.
Beautiful environment, very warm service, and excellent food.
A beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service! Truly a NY favorite!!
It's a pleasant place, well located near Central Park and the service is good. But the food is just ok, nothing special, nothing particularly "inspired." And it's not inexpensive. I go there -- been there a couple of times -- because of BYOB Sundays, which is a very good idea.
As regular patrons we enjoyed our visit. The food was very good and the service was attentive. We will be back.
Exquisite cuisine and excellent service in one of the most original and beautiful interiors in New York City
It was wonderful to dine again in that space with its beautiful murals. The food was really good with a couple dishes excellent. Arancini, carbonara. Gnudi and the night-‘s pasta special. The service was attentive but not rushed. And when we quietly told them it was a birthday. They came out with a lovely piece of taramisu and a candle. The Italian wine on the menu was great and not overly expensive
Great meal. Attentive staff. A bit pricey. But would go back for a special occasion.
There are still places in the city where being a happily in love gay couple somehow feels scrutinized and awkward.
We made The Leopard our place of celebration for our Valentine's Day, based on the proximity from our apartment, and the beautiful setting.
The crowd feels very stuffy, old and boring.
We enjoyed a bottle of champagne, several dishes and desert wine before we left a little disappointed.
classy, top notch service, delicious food in a beautiful dining room. The swordfish, halibut and special pasta, gnocchi, were excellent. Goerge, the Host was very warm. Valentin, our server, was a pro--attentive but not intrusive and the courses were well spaced making for wonderful evening. We will be back to try the Sunday jazz brunch.
It was Valentine’s Day and I was treating my wife. Everything was excellent as has always been our experience!
Beautiful decor, excellent service, great food. An excellent dining experience!
We visited The Leopard for the first time when we first started dating, because they had a fixed price menu I knew I could afford. The food and service was so good we've gone back a number of times. The most recent time we visited for my husband birthday. Our waiter was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. The food, again, was amazing. The salami board is a definite recommendation. Everything the waiter recommended wad a great choice. We'll be back, and I would definitely recommend The Leopard.
Enjoyed in every way
I was immediately impressed with the attention upon my arrival from the staff and taken to a well-located table. My friend arrived shortly thereafter and was also immediately seated.
Our waiter was attentive throughout the dinner, offered us advice when asked and, most importantly, we enjoyed our dinner of very unusual selections. It was Restaurant Week so the restaurant puts together dinner selections. I had rabbit for the first time and enjoyed it very much. The chocolate desert was scrumptious!
Pros: gorgeous interior, impeccable service.
Cons: obscenely expensive wines, even by the glass - a single glass of wine costs as much as an entree. No wonder their bar was empty at 6:30 on a Friday night.
Food was good but not great.
We had not dined here since before the change in management eight or so years ago, when it was called Cafe des Artistes. It was better then.
We won’t be returning.
I've been wanting to try this place and managed to get there the last day of restaurant week and had the option of the "Sicilian" menu for $42. It's beautiful because the murals are still in place but the restaurant has an updated, chic decor and vibe. It's a well-heeled NYC clientele but friendly, not stuffy. I thought the food was superb, and believe me, I'd love to try more. The menu is expensive however, so for me, it's got to be a pretty special occasion to go back.
A lovely evening at The Leopard. We have dined there several times and it has always been wonderful. Service is great and the food is superb! The ambiance is so special and you can actually have a conversation! Definitely a five star restaurant!
the quality continues to worsen ..what as shame as its such a lovely intimate place..the Milanese was burnt and the poached Halibut was tasteless . Enjoyed the lamb chops ..\
The kitchen needs new eyes ...things are getting stale
Great restaurant week menu. Will plan on returning twice a year - at least.
Great service and the food was delicious. The clientele is definitely more older than ourselves and intimidating but we were treated well and the service was great.
The Leopard at des Artistes is a fine dining establishment. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and the service was decent. The staff did their job but were not friendly. My biggest reservations are really regarding the taste of the food and its value. My two friends and I went to the Leopard to take advantage of restaurant week, and yes, given the high prices of a la carte items, $42 for a three-course meal seems to be a steal. However, compared to other restaurants with similar pricing, I just did not find the food to be amazingly delicious. My dessert (chocolate mousse) was quite good but I found both my appetizer and main dishes to consist mainly of one taste - salt, and too much of it. I would probably not return to the Leopard for the value, and for more spectacular tasting food, I would probably go elsewhere as well.
Nice place and service, brunch menu offered limited selection but tasty
Memories of Cafe des Artistes are probably coloring my review, but I found the new incarnation lacking. The service was excellent and the murals are still gorgeous but it lacked the warmth of its predecessor. The food was mediocre and we were very disappointed.
