Pasta was poorly cooked (like waaaaaay undercooked) and the sauces were either not tasty or lackluster. Pretty disappointing.
Everyday outdoor brunch. Everything was just right.
The food, particularly the seafood soup, was excellent, but were quite disappointed at the overall level of service. We dined inside, which at this time is a tad nerve wracking. Nonetheless, we were placed at a standalone table in the highest traffic spot in the entire restaurant (at the corner along the path to the bar and restrooms). This despite a lovely banquette option remaining open just a few feet away (apart from all other diners) the entire night. It was clear that the manager decided - perhaps since our adult child and ten year old were with us - that we were not worthy of a better table. Our server treated us with similar aloofness (and the restaurant was not full even up to the 25% level). (To be clear, our kids dine out regularly and understand how to behave.)
We were so hoping to have a better experience. We know restaurants are struggling right now and had hoped to find another spot in our neighborhood worth investing in (we dine out regularly). Instead, the host and server seem to have decided from the beginning that we should feel lucky to be in their restaurant and receiving even their distracted attention.
This was a terrible error in judgement. The manager's attitude and table choice cannot be excused. It is a reflection of a bygone era when high end restaurants felt like mistreating customers added ambiance and an air of exclusivity. Life is way too short.
Some of our server's attitude could perhaps be attributed to the fact that we did not order alcohol (as we told her at the start of the meal, we are eliminating added sugar and alcohol for 30 days), although we usually would have had a bottle of wine and likely an after dinner drink. Given our experience, we will be doing that elsewhere next time!
Even after enjoying the exquisite food, we decided not to return. We will dine out where we feel welcome and where our investment is appreciated. Such a shame.
Luckily, we have many other fantastic options to choose from.
My girlfriend and I were looking forward to dining here after a great experience, about a year ago. Overpriced for sub-par food. Was not pleased with taste of any dish. Even the simple lasagna dish lacked flavor and dimension.
the classiest restaurant on the upper west side. old world charm, amazing service, great food.
We were so happy to be back at in door dining in this world-class ristorante. Everything was perfect, and we felt perfectly safe in its environment. Having been vaccinated and past the immune waiting period, we were completely confident. The setup was socially distanced, and it did not distract from the beautiful backdrop of the murals. All in all a wonderful evening with great food and wine.
We went to the Leopard on a Thursday and were very happy with the social distancing as well as the food and service. We felt completely safe -- it was just like a normal meal out in that way. The pastas we had (a pork lasagna and cavatelli with lemon, cream and shrimps) were outstanding and portions very large and filling. The wine (Montepulciano) was excellent too. I recommend very highly!
Exceptional food, great wine list and stellar service to boot! Consistently excellent.
Still remains the best Italian restaurant on the upper west side
As always
Very good food presented well
Cheerful staff
Been there many times
Always try to come off hours
The ventilation in restaurant is terrible
AlwAys too hot too stuffy
It was great to return to The Leopard have almost a 12-month hiatus due to COVID. The ambiance was just as romantic and lively as it was a year ago. The food is still good to excellent. And the service, attentive and considerate.
I had a delicious crudo to start, followed by a tasty and tender rabbit with polenta. My husband and I shared a light-than-air zabaglione, prepared tableside, with berries. The highlight was a glass of red, new to me, called Ciro (the grape varietal). Deep, full-bodied and richly aromatic, it was a perfect pairing with the rabbit. Bravo, Il Gattopardo! Nice to have you back.
Beautiful experience, delicious food. Loved the murals.
The food and attention at The Leopard never disappoints. Fresh ingredients, flavorful compositions and a menu with something delicious for every palate. I am so glad that The Leopard is open for us to enjoy.
Wonderful place as always. 👌🥰
A wonderful, beautiful intimate restaurant. Delicious food, kind and professional staff.
We had a wonderful dinner, everything was just great from the staff to the atmosphere/food. They have done a wonderful job creating a comfortable and beautiful atmosphere during this very surreal time! Thank you again!
Food while very good is no where near the quality you would expect given the price. very, very expensive. Other places nearby have food that is the same or better and the price is at least 30% less. Server staff, while polite, are not very friendly. End of the day just not worth the price.
Top shelf in all regards! It will be one of my new “ Go to “ spots.
Outdoor dining option was the best we have experienced. Food delicious and lovely service.
Authentic, great food, great service, great outdoor heated patio. The service was great especially given that the employees are Italian and helped a lot with choosing which dishes are a must try.
Lovely setting, attentive service, wonderful food and drinks. Plus the perfect outdoor arrangement for covid times.
Felt like a real celebration.
For the price… The food was subpar. I ordered the risotto and it looks like a plate of porridge. For the price it really did not deliver. The best part of my meal was the Barata but who can screw up Barrata? I was not impressed and overpaid for a meal that I really did not enjoy
Everything was perfect!
It's a special occasion restaurant. A bit on the pricy side but the food was good and the service was exceptional. Would definitely return when the indoor dining is back to normal.
Beautiful outdoor environment with solid heaters - we even took off our coats we were so warm - and great ventilation. The food was outstanding - and the service was extraordinarily outstanding! The host and waitstaff makes everyone feel like a valued guest. This is one of our favorite restaurants and we always look forward to coming back!
Always fantastic!
A great treat, in these times. Ambiance, service and delicious food! And heaters!
This is one of our favorite spots as it’s right near our apartment. I hate to be critical as I love the restaurant. But we were both very disappointed in the Branzino. It was mushy and a bit tasteless and I suspect it was frozen not fresh. The roasted mushrooms were also very disappointing. I think the chef needs to step up his game because at those high rices one would expect much better. The ambiance and service is wonderful.
We had a lovely outdoor dining experience, despite the temperature being in the upper 20s. The Leopard has done a wonderful job adjusting to the changing conditions. Both the food and the service were first class. In sum, the Leopard remains a class establishment despite all the challenges being thrown at it!
Service was impecable. Food was delicious
Love the outdoor setup - significantly more so than the indoor setup. With the street lights and Hotel des Artistes as background, it’s a lovely, lovely ambiance.
Service is outstanding as usual and even under the circumstances.
The food was better the last few times. They changed the menu to feature more wintery preparations, but something was missing. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen.
Now that we have to go out for dining outdoor, this is a very good option. Has plenty space, good social distance, warm . It’s one of the best place. Food was very good, we had pasta cacio e Pepe, y achicoria salad with anchovies. Service good and wine list excellent.
Great place to dine; wonderful food and impeccable service
Kind and engaging with appropriate boundaries
Awesome food, service and ambiance.
Bones in the fish, couldn’t understand the waiter
The food had no taste. It was the worst meal I ever had!!! Terrible!
Perfect in every way.
In spite of the challenges that we are facing every day we are fortunate to have one of our favorite restaurants staying open and serving their usual fabulous food in a well designed outdoor space.
Great food very attentive service
Great food. Great service.
