The Leopard at des Artistes
Because our reservation overlapped with the exodus of a large corporate group, the noise and crush was extreme upon entering the restaurant. Perhaps these numerous patrons could be seated separately in time or space from the individual diners. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and found a bit too much salt in the antipasti, the fish a bit dry, and small marshmallows not expected nor appreciated atop an apple tart. The wine list was excellent and the servers were professional, courteous, prompt and effective. The murals in the historic setting tight with tables (understandable with the current cost per square food of city real estate) were the magnet that might draw us back.
We love The Leopard at des Artistes! The food, service, and ambiance is always outstanding. It is an elegant respite from the hub hub of New York City and we always have a memorable and delicious meal there! Truly one of NY City’s best!
Delicious as always... the beet salad was scrumptious
Excellent food, service and ambiance!
We came here for a pre-orchestra meal for my dad’s birthday. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I got the whole Branzino, which was roasted whole and served at the table. It was a nice touch. All in all, we had a lovely meal. Highly recommend!
Loved everything. It’s special but we are coming often! Dushan was perfect. Not stuffy and very knowledgeable
The experiences and menu was excellent as usual.
Our NYC favorite.
Everything was great once we got seated after waiting for our table for an hour.
Food not very good. Menu choice poor and food not very tasty. Service was indifferent. Restaurant is, however, very pretty.
Great old school NYC space. Service was excellent. Food was very spotty and sort of outdated. You are paying for the space and the service. Food is very average Italian.
Love everything about our dinner. We enjoyed the total experience.
The Leopard is The Bomb! I'll always remember what a special place the original Cafe des Artistes was...even when it had gotten a bit dog-eared and overly fussy...but the new incarnation of The Leopard has reinvented the restaurant and elevated the Italian cuisine to level that befits this West Side Gem. The ambience of the original place is still evident, but very tastefully updated. The service was impeccable...we were celebrating a momentous birthday this evening...and our entire table of eight enjoyed every minute of the evening. And the added plus of corkage-free Sundays allowed us to bring some truly special bottles to go with the meal. Huge thanks to Henry and the entire staff for making our night perfect in every way. Bravo!!!
My wife, son and I all had a fabulous experience following an opera matinee. The food was interesting, perfectly prepared and plentiful. A glass of the just opened jeroboam of brunello available by the glass was a very special touch for the restaurant. The staff was all very nice. A table up just few stairs to the terrace level overlooking the main floor was perfect to view both the artwork and activity in the restaurant. We will return and the cool bar at the back of the restaurant may become our new upper west side rendezvous point. Thank you for a beautiful experience.
Best prepared whole fish I’ve had in years.
Wonderful New Years Eve celebration with friends!!
Everything delicious, everything special! We loved it!!
Wonderful for New Year’s Eve and any special event
Good food but too fussy.
Amazing service, gorgeous ambiance, and food was divine!
Food was not so good
Had seafood pasta - it had been in a pot for quite some time
I hate not giving outstanding/great reviews but this restaurant was not what I expected. Appetizers were just good. Not a lot of thought in presentation but taste was good. Not the outstanding I expected from other reviews. For the entrees two of the pasta dishes were undercooked. Very undercooked. There are too many restaurants in NYC to try. Most likely will not go back.
We were seated at a table in the bar area, which has never happened before in all the years that we have been going there. Not good.
I loved service and staff, but food was below my expectations, considering I’m a huge fan of Italian cusine
The service was superb the lobster ravioli and the seafood in a skillet and zabionne dessert were delicious and special
Wonderful Christmas dinner
Ambiance style and service perfectly balanced.
Wonderful as always! Perfect place to spend Christmas Eve! Kudos to all!
As Always a great experience!
Holidays! Great food the owners attentive service. Always love the ambience even though it was a bit loud.
We had a lovely dinner with delicious food and warm attentive service. It’s a wonderful spot for special occasions or for dinner with friends. The staff is very professional and treats everyone like a regular.
Beautiful place. Great food - excellent lamb chops! Hope to come back.
Still a unique restaurant because of the erotic wall murals. The current restaurant lacks the ambience of the original Cafe des Artistes. The food, however, is much better than average Italian cuisine. A sensible wine list.
It is, however, crowded and somewhat noisy.
Gabriella was an outstanding server and was very attentive
This should be a special occasion restaurant. it is beautiful, the food is delicious
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. The atmosphere is lovely. Will definitely return.
Civilized in the mold of "adult" restaurants from the height of NYC social culture.
Legendary rooms and murals. Delightful. The southern Italian menu is excellent. Cooking was exceptional.
Lovely meal in great surrounding. Service impeccable. Manager very kindly found us really nice table despite the fact that I had made error on date of booking.
Wonderful restaurant for an Artist's birthday celebration!
Very accommodating and relaxing.
We liked the restaurant but there were few choices that were dairy and salt free.
