Located in the New York landmarked Hotel Des Artistes, and surrounded by the astonishing 1920s murals by Howard Chandler Christy, THE LEOPARD at des Artistes finds its roots in the area once known as “The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies” (mid 1800s) and in the culinary traditions of the regions of Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Apulia, Sardinia, and of course Sicily, reaching a balance between dishes based on rural elements, such as pasta, vegetables, cheese, and seafood ingredients from the Costiera.

An elegant blast from the past. Delicious food, solicitous service and oh those murals! BYOB Sunday is a nice touch but note that you cannot order from the prix fixe menu if you BYOB -- something you are not told until you have handed over your bottle.

We planned to come here for Valentine’s Day. Ambiance was very nice but unfortunately food was a huge disappointment. The risotto wasn’t cooked at all , so we sent it back. They cooked it a little more but it still wasn’t cooked. We also ordered crab cakes , the chef didn’t realize it had no flavor, I’m a lite salt eater and this one had no salt or flavor at all. I was surprised to see this kind of food quality at the Leopard because i had better expectations. Will not return here.

We went for the Jazz Brunch, pre-theater for show at Lincoln Center. The service was very good, the food was also and brunch items were reasonably priced. We all ordered Bellinis, but they were clearly made with pear nectar, not peach, as bellinis are meant to be. Good anyway. We were not rushed at all, and it is a very beautiful venue. All enjoyed it very much.

Lovely venue with great food and service. The main room, however, can be a bit on the noisy side when it’s at or near full capacity.

The Leopard at des Artistes, never disappoints. Rather, it thrills and the resplendent combination of beautiful and artful decor, interesting clientele, delicious food, unparalleled wine and drink selection, superb staff and warm atmosphere make it my definitive "go-to-restaurant" for Lincoln Center nights. Highly recommended, especially when those in the party are impressed by high quality food, service and one of the most interesting and comfortable old New York City treasures which has been restored to pristine quality.

Came for special regional menu. Had limited time prior to early theater commitment. All staff were highly professional and accommodating; as a result the strict schedule constraints were easily met.
Eager to return when possible for unhurried meal from the regular menu.

I would only recommend the Leopard at des Artistes for its beautiful ambiance. The food is hit or miss and it's best to stay with simple recipes from the regular menu. I have been there many times, both during regular times and during Restaurant Week. Each time I have gone for RW, the food has been a big disappointment and the servings are meager. We were still hungry after we left and my boyfriend stopped for pizza on the way home. The Leopard doesn't seem to understand the purpose of RW is to introduce their restaurant to new diners. If I didn't have a history that dates back to the 1940's when my parents and aunt and uncle dined there, (I have been going since I moved to NYC in the early 70's), I would never go back. Also, the waiters are generally unfriendly, glum, and we didn't have confidence that he knew the food or the wine to make recommendations. But the maitre d was nice. However, we did enjoy a superb bottle of organic Italian wine that was reasonably priced. Maybe the next time we go, we will skip the food and just order the wine at the bar and enjoy the beautiful setting.

We were very disappointed in our dining experience. The meal was mediocre but overpriced for the quality. It was old and outdated. I can’t believe it has the high ratings on open table because I will never recommend or go back. The wine list was terrible and we were restricted from bringing our own bottles. If you have celiac and gluten free, do not expect to be able to order much. They do not have a separate gluten free menu and accommodate begrudgingly. To top it off, we checked our coats, scarves and hats and not everything was returned. I recommend finding somewhere else to eat on the upper west side if you are looking for that address.

The Leopard at des Artistes is a great, perhaps overlooked, option when going to Lincoln Center or just a wonderful meal. It is a beautiful, romantic place. It has been updated since the prior owners, all for the better. The prices are on the higher side but no more than other higher end restaurants. You can choose reasonably priced apps and pasta or share a entree. Wine selection is very good and wait staff are professional. We particularly liked the bartender who mixed an excellent negroni and martini. Try it. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful restaurant with cordial service and excellent menu . The wine prices are a bit inflated, as are the food prices, but this is to be expected in Manhattan at a beautifully arranged restaurant such as this. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

My friend and I had a New York Winter Restaurant Week dinner at The Leopard. Each of the three weeks of restaurant week celebrated a different part of Italy. Ours was Tuscany. We had the same salad; I found it to be fairly bland and unexciting. I also had the Mediterranean fish stew which was much smaller than I thought it would be. This dish was also unextraordinary. My friend enjoyed her pappardelle with rabbit and mushroom ragout. She had the chocolate ice cream bombolato for dessert; I had three little cinnamon encrusted balls filled with ricotta. They were delicious.

We liked our Thanksgiving dinner at The Leopard so much that we decided to come back for restaurant week. While the quality of the food is always excellent, I was disappointed by the Restaurant Week choices this time.

But we still love the restaurant and will definitely return.

We went because we loved the Tuscany inspired fixed price menu. When we are in NY this is one of our must go to places. Never had a bad meal or experience. The staff is very helpful to suggest wines if you are not familiar with Italian wines. A really great restaurant

We have been to Leopard a few times for Restaurant Week and have enjoyed it every time. This time the food stood out as exceptional. We brought two guests from out of town and they were blown away by the seafood stew and the doughnuts (though named something Italian). It is beautiful, the staff was attentive and friendly but not pretentious and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Always a lovely place for brunch or dinner. Service is wonderful, food is delicious and nicely presented. The restaurant week at $26 or $42 is a nice bargain and introduction to the place if you haven't been. Only suggestion, add two more ravioli as it seemed liked an appetizer rather than the main course.
