Executive chef: Stephen Jones

From the OpenTable editors: The larder & the delta has been a comfort for nearly a decade, and it moved into a cozy home with a new menu in 2024. James Beard semifinalist Stephen Jones folds local and seasonal produce into Southern cooking with unexpected dishes like chicken-fried mushrooms and country ham–style swordfish. Start with the multi-course tasting menu, that has one seating on weekdays and two on weekends, and then look on the restaurant's Instagram for specials like brunch and chef collaboration dinners.

Went for restaurant week, only 3 courses and less expensive. Great service, food very good, portions small. Likely the normal size they make for the 5 and 8 course menus. We got the wine pairing, enjoyed the wines. Stopped for a bite on the way home as we were still hungry.

Went during Restaurant Week. The chef knows his spices and they make his food. We had his Hoppin John, Asparagus Salad, Iberico Pork, and Citrus Pound Cake. All excellent. Atmosphere is mellow and garden view perfect. You can talk easily and not be drowned out by noise. We will return.

This was an excellent dining experience. We tried all of the food options for the three-course Restaurant Week menu, plus the wine pairing. The restaurant is small, creating a cozy and intimate ambiance along with charming low lights and elevated farmhouse decor. The servers were friendly and attentive. The music selection was surprisingly delightful with some R&B in the mix. The highlight of each course for us was the asparagus with truffle aioli and crispy bacon to start, and the pork skirt steak with zhoug for the entree. The dessert poundcake was good, though it didn’t blow me away. All in all, we can’t wait to go back for the 5- or even 8-course tasting menu!!

Last Sunday we were fortunate to be able to have great Sunday brunch with Chef Stephen Jones at The larder and the Delta. His tasting experiences have always been first rate and he has expanded his offerings to family get-togethers on Wednesdays and brunches. Regardless of the format, the service is always attentive and professional and the food is innovative and delicious! Definitely recommend reservations! Check out the menu and pics!

I booked reservations after having this restaurant on my try list for some time. Upon arriving the front reminded me of an old house. After parking finding the front entrance is somewhat confusing as there isn’t a name on the front door, signage or a way to designate the front doors. After entering I was greeted by a bartender with a welcome cocktail. While the cocktail tasted good there wasn’t Name or description provided for the drink and it seemed incomplete without a garnish. The bartenders attire, a Hawaiian blouse, reminded me of a dive bar and not a fine dining restaurant. Upon seating in the dining room, which was intimate with an open kitchen concept, the ambiance was nice. The server never introduced themselves, provide beverage recommendations or upsell on any of the accompaniments that were on the booking form of open table. There wasn’t a menu on the table as well. The first two courses were described as snacks and they both tasted good, however the asparagus course was difficult to eat with a tablespoon. The radish and butter dish presentation could have been presented in a way to exemplify fine dining, it lacked salt and acid to cut through the fatty elements of the butter which coated your palette. The pork cheek and the rice were the highlights of the evening, both exemplifying bold flavors. For a five courses dinner with two beverages I would anticipate to pay a minimum of $250 per person without beverages. Overall the food was good, the service and consistency of a fine dining experience are a work in progress.
